These are very simple alcoholic drinks. Basically a slushy with alcohol. They are a great summer drink actually they are a great year long drink :-). They are open on Sundays during the summer, so that is a great benefit for people who want to get out and just go have a nice refreshing on a hot Sunday afternoon. My wife went in this afternoon. And we were the only two people in there on a Sunday afternoon. It was quiet. Relaxing. Overall, this is a wonderful place for a fun alcoholic beverage. I've never tried the food here and I don't care to - they are renowned in Columbia for their alcoholic slushies! You can only imagine my confused look when I heard about this place. It's a bar and grill that specializes in a variety of perfectly concocted fruity and tarty spiked slushes poured into a styrofoam cup in which you can walk around in public with at a college town?!?! NO WAY! That just sounds so wrong and so right at the same time?! As if the cops around here DON'T know what you're drinking?! pppssshhh!! I'm a lightweight, so I hardly drink, but when I go here, I get the sissy Pina Colada slushy. It's GOOD. Try "Trops," cause that's all you'll hear the locals call it. This place has beer. It has t-shirts (because Trops is a lifestyle). I think it has jello shots? Look, ignore that. You come here for the 15+ alcoholic slushy machines. Pina colada? Done. Daquiri? Yep. Fruit punch? Yes sirree-bob. You can order shots, floaters, or, a frozen grain alcohol "shot" to fortify whatever slushy offering you choose. Last time I was there, I ordered a rum runner with a dark rum floater (I'm from Miami, now, b1tch). However, they pour the floater directly on top (instead of a test tube) and the thing was too sweet to finish. It didn't suck. But I wouldn't order it again. Try the creamy almond (probably with an added shot, so people know you're serious) or the sweet tart. Takes me back to my high school days. My friends took me here for an alcoholic slushy and I have to say it was pretty darn tasty. I had the Sweet Tart which tasted just like you would think it would from the name. The slushies are Sonic-like, which makes it so great and I even told my friends I liked their alcoholic spin better than Wet Willie's. It's virtually impossible for me to cruise through the fine state of Missouri without a stop at Trops. I've had the pleasure of stopping at both locations. They serve "adult spiked slushies" and while I'm sure it's not advised to drink and drive, they are basically served in a to-go cup for you to take home and consume at your leish. My go-to is usually the Tiger Paw and trust that if you order it in a large, you'll be good to go. If you're in town for a game, some tailgating, or just a fun night, you HAVE TO start your night with a stop at Trops. After all, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" right? Patio is open year round, and when the freezing temps hit MId Mo, they pull out the patio heaters, so you can enjoy your frozen drink in the snow! Tropical Liqueurs, or "Trops" as it is better known to those who call Columbia home, is a CoMo staple! Their specialty lies in their wide variety of alcoholic slushies available in mix-n-match flavors of various sweetness and alcoholic content. No Columbia summer would be complete without a stop at Trops. They've mastered the art of the alcoholic slushies; I don't know how they do it, but they've perfectly balanced the amount of alcohol to still be substantial with enough sweet flavoring to make the drink taste good--all while still keeping it cold enough to stay frozen (which is one of the most difficult parts of alcoholic slushies because science). "Tiger Paw" is a classic in Columbia, with its delicious peachy-pineapple-orange flavor. My two personal favorites are Sweet Tart (a tangy cranberry) and Raspberry Lemonade. Since you can go half-and-half on any two flavors, I often like to blend something sweeter with "Silver Bullet" as a way to get a higher alcoholic content that retains a great flavor! Trops has a lot of specials, such as a little rewards card that you can tick off with each purchase to earn a discounted drink at the end of it, or a mailing list to receive coupons and notifications of specials in the mail each month. Love this place!! Have been to both locations. The South Providence location is nicer, but the downtown location is the original and a nice place as well. I suggest getting a mixture of Tiger Paw, Jungle Juice, and Silver bullet (44 oz.). Just be sure to drink this a home or in another place where you won't be driving for a long time. Trops is one of the kind of places you must visit in mid MO. I've never stayed there and hung out but it's always a great day to get a drink and bring it back to Fulton. I enjoy most of the flavors but you really only get buzzed if you drink it super fast, which is difficult because of brain freeze. I say go for the medium over large because by the time you finish the large, it isn't that great and a lot of the flavor is gone. read more
