I've now been on this "ride" a few times, so I feel better prepared to review this attraction. First time I visited, it was in the middle of last summer, on a beautiful day, and after purchasing our tickets (which I thought were crazy expensive, BTW), we had to stand in a line that was practically wrapped around the whole upper level of the Convention Center. Seriously, it was the longest line EVER and we were herded along like cattle. When we finally arrived in the small ante-room to watch a brief 10-minute movie about Canada, it was standing room only and the room was SO packed, I was getting claustrophobic, for real. It was really unnerving and, for me, uncomfortable and stifling. I couldn't even enjoy the video playing.
Today, however, it was a WHOLE 'other story. I paid for and ordered our tickets online in advance (note to the wise: this is definitely the way to go!). Yes, we were able to specify a show time this way, and we saved $5 per ticket by ordering online. When we arrived to the attraction, we immediately went to the line and there was surprisingly NO wait! The line was SO short! The staff (guys and girls) were all so nice and smiling and welcoming. This time, there was plenty of room for us all to stand in the ante-room, and I just loved the movie they showed! It depicted split screens of Canadian sites, from the cities to the mountains to the wheat fields to the Maritime vistas. It was great!
Then onto the main event: going to the FlyOver Canada room. All I can say is, it is truly exhilarating! The entire ride takes 15 minutes, but it's a multi-sensory experience: visually stunning, plus with accompanying music and other sounds, a scents, and feel (the breeze! the mist!). I totally understand why our seats have seatbelt; when the pace quickens, and when your seat feels like it's going faster, or tilting so as to feel you're turning right or left, it TOTALLY feels real, and the seatbelt helps let you know you aren't going to fall off your seat. Because it really truly feels like you are going to!
I'd warn others to think twice about this ride if they easily get nauseous or have vertigo or are afraid of heights. Otherwise, this is one of the few attractions that is worth the admission price. read more
