Deserving of an updated 4 star review for still bringing amusement park fun plus mini golf, haunted…read morehouse, midway games, climbing wall and concert entertainment to the city in 2025. I had a blast on their thrill rides such as the OG wooden roller coaster which was built way before we were born in 1958...yup, its age does add an extra rocky and spooky element when you are on this ride. Their mini golf course was cute and with enough challenging designs for family fun. Hole in one at hole 16 and 17 was a thoughtful and encouraging design too. Paid parking available and free street parking is possible if you park further away. Staff is overall quite friendly. Vendor foods' costs are of course usually higher at an amusement park but hot dogs, burgers, pizza, donuts and cotton candy are the standard food options at an amusement park. Tips: Recommend to visit on a less sunny or even cloudy day to avoid the heat while in lineup. Do bring a hat or sunscreen on sunny days and stay hydrated. Look for online promotion when buying admission tickets for better value and please don't compare Playland to Disneyland. I chose to visit Playland when PNE is not open for less crowds and spent about half a day there. Put your hands up on the rides and scream for a good time :)

Attended the PNE summer fair this year on their very last weekend! I love their summer fairs, but…read morethis time I thought their food selection was not as good as last years. :: Pig racing - they had their petting zoo open which had many farm animals and a pig race! We were so excited for the pig race, we dropped everything to make sure we make it. However, we were pretty disappointed... the race was for 20mins in total but we only got to see the pigs for probably 1min. They only did two races. The space was also very tight so it was hard for people to see, on top of that, there was no ventilation so it got very stuffy and hot. Considering this is a part of their summer fair, it would've been nice if they some water coolers or fans. :: Superdog show - hands down best part of the fair!! The show was for 30mins and we got to pet the dogs after which was amazing. The show itself was very humorous and had lots of fun elements. Now the food - :: The Tochi YVR flights were amazing, 5/5 would recommend (especially the coconut one) :: Slush Zone - we got their slushies from the Slush Zone which came in funky bottles that looked big but did not hold a lot of fluid. You had to pay $2 to refill them which was not too bad. :: Shrimp Basket from the Shrimp Basket stall, pretty good! The Shrimps were fried to perfection. I wish they had the foot long fries, they were my favourite at PNE!! Hope they bring them back next year.

The three-year-old had a great time, he could climb and run through most of the structures, and his face lit up when he figured out how the vacuum ball tubes worked. The place was less suitable for a one-year-old, but there was a pretty good toddler area. I thought the place was pretty clean and had lots of stuff to do. My main complaint is that the merry-go-round type 'rides' shown on the website cost a loonie, even though I paid admission. I'd expected them to be free. Also, some big kids went into the toddler area and were rowdy for a bit, but didn't get asked to leave. But overall, pretty good, though not as spectacular as the best indoor playgrounds I've seen

Lots of comfy seats for parents to lounge on (I brought knitting) It was reasonably clean when we went there and the staff member who was working was friendly. They had signs everywhere saying "no outside food or drinks" but nobody batted an eye at my obvious Tim Horton's coffee. They do have k-cup coffee available for purchase there, as well as some snacks. Check their website for coupons before you go. When we went there was a buy one admission, get one admission half price coupon. Unlike some other play gyms in malls, you can't drop and shop here, but admission comes with a wrist band and in and out privileges for the rest of the day.

For $10 you get approximately 7 minutes of a virtual reality experience. Most of it is video game-type stuff but there are a couple of roller coaster simulations and others as well. Pro tip: Ask about what's not in the book. And ask for age-appropriate experiences too, if you want advice - the nice guy working the booth had a good handle on what I might like and what I wouldn't, and I'm sure he could do the same for young kids as well. I've never done *any* VR before so this was a first. It definitely seemed like a glorified video game. The graphics are not FlyOver Canada quality (think somewhere between 1980s Nintendo Duck Hunt and Wreck It Ralph), but the water slide program I chose was really fun! Because I chose a shorter program, I got to choose another. I chose "Iceland" - which I don't recommend. It seemed like I was walking around sub-par graphics with no aim or any control over my "body." Next time I'll definitely do amusement park rides only! A fun way to pass the time (or at least to get away from screaming children in 7 minute increments!).
