Summer Love roll
Miriam T.

Was at Pier 39 for the Pokemon Go event. I felt like sushi and Flying Ninja was down the street. Small corner restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating. I lunched outside as the weather was sunny and cool. We ordered the Summer Love and Flying Ninja rolls. Food was enjoyable and customer service was great. They had a lot to offer on the menu.

Just ate here and it's delicious! Highly recommend the Wonder Woman, Ghirardelli and Flying Ninja rolls. The service was great and the sake too!

Amazing food even better service! Highly recommend. I was looking for something with my coworkers for dinner after a long flight. Stumbled upon Flying Ninja and could not be happier with the decision

A Disappointing Experience at Flying Ninja We had walked by Flying Ninja many times over the last few months and always wanted to try it. Finally, we got the chance to do a takeout. I stopped by the menu outside for a glance and was pleasantly welcomed by the lady and gentleman working there. The menu looked very inviting. I decided on a Sherek Roll and their Salmon Special, which came with a few pieces of nigiri, sashimi, and something else I do not recall. I had read the reviews, and I was hoping for a pleasant experience, but we were disappointed. The fish did not taste fresh at all, and we did not finish either dish because it just did not feel right. As mentioned above, I had read other fellow Yelpers' reviews and ratings, so I am guessing Flying Ninja had a bad day on that date. As for the environment, the outside seating area looked fine, but when I walked in, the tables and the counter were a bit messy, so if we were to eat there, I would not sit inside. I am giving them a three-star rating instead of two to account for the possibility that this was one of those bad-timing situations, and things are usually much better.

The food was great. Service was very friendly. It was cozy and comfortable. We had a very late lunch. Gyoza and sushi was great. Soda was in a can

Cherry blossom roll (top) and Alaska Roll)

Was in SF for the weekend for an Alcatraz/Golden Gate swim event, staying in a hotel at Fisherman's Wharf. This is an annual event and we have done this for many years since I was diagnosed with celiac disease (coming into 16 years now). For whatever reason, this trip has been especially difficult finding places that have GF (more than a salad or steamed vegetables, and not just pizza). I have gotten attitude from multiple places and then gotten severely glutened. By the time we came to Flying Ninja, I was pretty worried that it would happened again. Let me just shout from the rooftops: **THE OWNERS OF FLYING NINJA ARE VERY WELL VERSED IN GLUTEN FREE AND WHAT GLUTEN IS!!** This was SO reassuring!! There's nothing that makes a person with celiac more nervous than asking if something is GF and the response being "well, it has meat" or "it has cheese". They were quick to let me know which items had gluten and after we ordered, we realized the roll my husband got had imitation crab (which theirs has gluten), and since we wanted to share everything, we let them know. The lady (who I assume is co-owner) ran back to the kitchen yelling "stop! Stop! Gluten!" and then let us know alternative rolls to get. The pieces of fish were generous and tasty. And of course they had GF soy sauce. What we ordered: Hamachi Kama (grilled yellowtail cheek) - delicious! Negihama Roll (Yellowtail + green onion) Alaska Roll (Salmon + avocado) Cherry Blossom Roll (salmon + avocado inside, tuna outside) Tl;dr SAFE FOR CELIACS/GF! Delicious and generously portioned fish! Will definitely keep this on the "safe" list for next year!

10/10!! This was so yummy. Such good and welcoming service. Every single item we ordered was so tasty and the portions were so generous. I highly recommend the Golden State roll!!

Amazing location and ambience away from the crowd. The place is tucked in the classic brown bricked building away from the noisy crowd along beach street. One will truly enjoy the meal. Food is good and served hot. The service is on the dot. Thank you to the 2 lovely Japanese couple manning the restaurant.

Salmon Teriyaki bento box

Was excited to see a sushi restaurant right next to our hotel! Loved how it is located in such a busy area! Right when you walk into the patio the owner/sushi chef greets you with a hello! I love the authentic feel of the restaurant. Bento box came with a lot of food, especially for lunch! Husband ordered the golden gate roll and enjoyed his Choice as well! As we were leaving the chef/owner tells us bye with big smiles

Flying Ninja is located in a busy area but it didn't feel overly crowded. I ate here the last two times I visited San Francisco. I hadn't been back after the pandemic until this trip. I was pleased to see it was still open and thriving. The sushi chef is always so friendly. He greets guests as they walk in with a smile from ear to ear. It's an authentic welcome! I enjoy chicken teriyaki with miso soup. It was delicious. We also ordered sushi to see if still tasted as fresh as the last time. It was right on point. Flying Ninja is an authentic Japanese eatery with quality food for a good price. They offer daily specials with good friendly service. The outside dining area is a nice choice for a table if available.

Fried Tofu, calamari, gyoza, various rolls!

Low quality pics, high quality food (and service)! This gem is right in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf and made for a perfect dinner on a warm SF evening. The outdoor setup was decked out in twinkly lights and brought a nice ambiance to compliment the delicious food! We got to try a few rolls, including the Flying Ninja, the sashimi combo, calamari, gyoza, and the fried tofu (which was a highlight). Also had the privilege of trying the gyudon-style bbq beef with rice which was very tasty. The sashimi was buttery fresh and I loved the unique roll combinations. The owners were so friendly and kept bringing us food and drinks! Will hopefully be coming back soon.

Very good service and decent quality food. Might be a bit pricy but that's probably just due to the area it's in. Solid 8/10

The sushi wraps were good but they can be a bit messy. 2 sushi wraps, 1 ramen, 1 sushi roll, seaweed salad, 2 sodas, came out to about $90. We'll be back to try more.

We were seated pretty quickly on a Sunday evening, and there were a couple of other parties there. They had a sign advertising a special where you can order two items from a list and it comes with soup, salad, and rice, but we ended up just splitting two house special rolls - the Salmon Mango roll and Rock N Roll roll (tuna, avocado, spicy mayo). Both were delicious. I particularly liked the Salmon Mango roll - it was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The rolls came with 8 pieces each and each piece was a good size, so it was plenty for two of us. I also got a Sapporo beer (bottle) to sip on. Overall, good experience - quick, efficient service and satisfying meal.

From the moment we sat down, the sushi train immediately caught everyone's attention. Once we submit our order in the iPad, the bullet style train brought the food to our table. It made the whole meal feel interactive and exciting, especially for a family night out. The robot food server was also a huge hit at our table. It added a fun, modern touch and definitely made the experience memorable. It's not every day your food is delivered by a robot and train. It brought a lot of smiles and conversation to the table. On top of the entertainment, the food itself was fresh and delicious. There was a great variety of sushi to choose from, and everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. I think the combination of good food, unique service, and a lively atmosphere made this a standout dining experience. If you're looking for a place that's both fun and tasty especially with family, Hikari Sushi & Bar is definitely worth a visit!

I think expectations are usually low when going to these types of spots but given the quality and price, it's actually pretty surprising. I usually stop by for dinner on weeknights. It can get busy sometimes but I've never waited more than 10-15 minutes. Service is quick and friendly. The goal is to get you seated and taken care of right away. Once you sit down, it's game on. Chefs are busting out all different kinds of dishes for you to try. They also take requests if there's something on the menu you'd like to try. I love not having to commit to a roll and being able to try a ton of different things. Admittedly, I keep coming back for the seared walu. The plate color lets you know the price of what you're getting. Most plates come with 2-4 pieces and run from $3 - $8. I can make this dinner as cheap or expensive as I'd like!

It kind of makes me feel like I'm in a station since it's a counter space is right out in the open in a corner amongst all the cute little boutique shops and dessert places between Peace Plaza and the indoor bridge. $120 for the sixteen-item omakase set when we went back in February 2025. Courteous, polite service. They provided a wet towelette for us to wipe our fingers and instructed us to eat each sushi piece in one bite. The temperature of the fish was not too warm and not too cold. I loved the variety of sashimi offered, especially the charred ones! Out of all the dishes, the smoked trout with the egg yolk and the Hokkaido scallop stood out. Only dish I wasn't too crazy about was the squid and pickled lotus root/eggplant, which was shocking to me since I normally love all those things! The texture of the pickled lotus was starchy.
