This place is always busy, it seems and it's because the food is SO good. I love their cheeseburgers. They are hands down the best seafood in town too. They have add-on cost for the burgers like cheese, mushrooms, onions, or jalapeños. I wish their fries had more seasoning or even just sea salt. The skin has texture but no taste. This is a solid eatery! I was in between a 4 and 5 and decided to round up. What made me do so? Glad you asked...those doggone hush puppies were u like any I have ever had. They were delightful little pockets of cornbread that just took everything up a notch. There was one in our gumbo...an unexpected finish that worked. And others in the shrimp basket. The jumbo shrimp basket was nice. The shrimp was dipped in a cornmeal batter which was again another beautiful and unexpected touch. I am used to a flour batter. The gumbo was pretty solid. I would've enjoyed a bit more of a kick but maybe I should've added some hot sauce. It was still very nice! We also had a cheeseburger. Another solid choice. It was hot and fresh and the bun was just right. I also really appreciated the sauces that were available. We tried the remoulade, tarter, cocktail -- all excellent...beyond a standard recipe. We were stuffed after splitting those 3 dishes. I would love to come back and try the gumbo again, the fried green tomatoes and the catfish. The staff was also very nice. The dining room was clean and well maintained. They could've hit up the front doors and kept them wiped down. There were lots of hand prints. Minor but noticeable. I happened to see a kids plate -- a boat -- it was so cool. I would imagine kids get a kick out of it. All in all, this place is highly recommended. I've eaten at the one in Magnolia and El Dorado which I would say are better. I ordered the Fish & Shrimp with fries. The fish and shrimp tasted like they had absolutely no seasoning at all and it was not fresh for the time we had to wait on the food. Also, they do fresh cut potato fries and they were very soggy. Felt like they have been sitting in oil. The best thing they have are their cinnamon rolls and ice cream. By far! I have also eaten their burgers at the other locations and they were good. Excellent burgers and seafood! Was traveling through and decided to stop for lunch in my old college town and stumbled across this gem right off the interstate. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu but for now I can say the burger was the best I have found in years. The grilled tilapia was off the chain good!
