UPDATE (9/24/2024): I had a good chat with the owner and it sounds like changes are being made to…read moreaddress the phone, tech, and work culture issues. The situation was described to me as the perfect storm. I'm glad to hear that my unfortunate experience might help others after helping to identify things that weren't working. Again, my dogs were well-cared for thankfully. ORIGINAL POST: Poor service, poor communication, and concerning practices. *This was my experience as a first (and last) time customer. My dogs seemed ok but I was not impressed.* NOTES: - Only one person is vaguely trained in the computer system (new as of 9/2024) - I was almost charged double because of the lack of system training. - The Sunday pick-up window ends BEFORE 11am. - There is no way to contact anyone outside of "business hours". - The manager does not have access to all dogs (from how it sounded. I was told upon pickup that the manager conveniently came back from out of town at the exact same time and didn't have keys on her). PRO - accepts last minute reservations - reasonably priced (if not charged twice) MY EXPERIENCE I had a last-minute trip come up, so I was grateful that I could get my dogs into boarding from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. I received a call the day before drop-off to confirm our reservation. Check-in was when things began going downhill. Apparently there is a new computer system, so my dogs were not on the same invoice and I was informed that my card would need to be run twice to make sure both invoices received payment. Slightly inconvenient but whatever. Until I was informed that I would be charged for 2 dogs and 2 nights twice, doubling my payment. It took 3 people explaining that ($43+$39) for 2 nights charged twice was $300+, not $175 total. We had to completely redo the reservation before everything was settled. The worst part of this experience was the pickup. I was told to pick up between 10-11am. I hit traffic on my drive and pulled into the empty lot at exactly 11am. I got out of my car after rearranging luggage at 11:01am. I checked all doors to find them locked with no one inside or on the property and proceeded to call the website number to leave 3 separate messages at 11:03, 11:05, and 11:09am. THERE IS NO AFTER HOURS LINE AVAILABLE. The only person I could find on the property was a handyman who proceeded to call the manager. When the manager arrived around 11:15am, I was told that everyone is on break and no one would be back for a few hours (3pm was the earliest time when people would be back in the office based on what the manager told me), so I had to come back at 5pm. According to the manager it was my responsibility to call and ask them to stay "late" even though I was not told that this was the case during check-in. When the manager asked which dogs I was picking up, she immediately responded with, "Yeah, I don't have the keys to their kennel." I have boarded my dogs in Indiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, California, and Nevada. I have never been told that it has been my responsibility to make sure that I call to make sure workers are available during "open hours". Nor have I been told that the manager didn't have access to my dogs. That concerns me when my dogs have no one with them and the two people I could find don't have access to them. I understand that I arrived at the end of the pick-up window. I was more disappointed by the fact that I had informed them of my pick-up time, did not receive a call about changing that time, and there was no humanly way possible for the entire place to be locked up and vacated by 11am while staying open during posted hours.

This is a total bummer as I was really expecting great things when I found this pet grooming place…read moreon Yelp based on all of the great 5 star reviews. It was a traumatizing disappointment to say the least, for both me and my dog Molly. When we arrived for our appointment for a nail trim, Molly was rushed onto a raised platform for the trim. The owners didn't even talk to her or greet her or ask for her name, no treats, nothing to calm her down. When I booked the appointment I didn't realize that they were going to have me be involved, as with past pet grooming places the professionals handle the entire operation and then let you know when it's done. While I was helping to hold her down, she was shrieking in terror as the owner cut her nails. Molly literally screamed out about 3-4 times, it was awful to watch. Past places like PetSmart trimmed and buffed the nails and then gave Molly treats for doing a great job. Shear Elegance only trimmed the nails and sent her on her way, no treat. The plus side was that it only cost $5 but be warned that they only accept cash and don't accept credit cards or any other form of payment. Molly couldn't wait to get out of there... after I paid she was pulling me out the door terrified with her tail between her legs. I really had high expectations based on the reviews and really like to support local businesses, but I think I'll stick to PetSmart where they will clean her ears, trim and buff her nails, and give her treats to calm her down for $20. I'm hoping this experience won't scare her going forward for future nail appointments.

My dog was LONG overdue for a grooming! He had such a bad experience the last time he was groomed…read morethat my husband and I were a little hesitant to put him through that again. We didn't need to worry with Cassie. She arrived right on time and I prepared her ahead of time about my dog's issues. Two hours later, our dog Larry appeared well groomed and very happy. She took a lot of time dematting him in areas we didn't even realize he had mats. She also filed his nails instead of just clipping them. It was also apparent that she really gained Larry's trust and affection. The only reason I gave her four stars is because the price was significantly higher than I was expecting. I told her we just wanted to trim him, not style him, as shown in the mini-groom package but when she gave me the receipt I was charged the highest amount for a full groom, plus dematting. I was totally okay paying extra for the dematting but was a bit surprised. She said the minigroom only covered a bath not any sort of cutting. This confused me on the website as I thought since I did not want him styled we would be paying the minigroom price. Thankfully she did such an excellent job that it was worth the money we paid, but it might not be something we can do as frequently because of the high cost.

This one has the thickest densest hair of any I have ever seen or owned. This was not going to be an easy project. The grooming team at Angel's Pet World worked on my pup for more than three hours and he looks fabulous! When I picked him up, my little guy was happy and seemed to really like his new friends at Angels Pet World. They charged me a very reasonable price, especially when considering the effort involved. Yes, I will be bringing him back again in the future, and yes, I would recommend them to others!

Angel's Pet World is a great place - thumbs up!…read more APW seems mostly dedicated to dog & cat stuff...food, accessories, and equipment. It's a big place. They have a huge variety of items. Don't come here for the big brand, cheap, large quantity foods though. I didn't find any bulk Purina dog foods or any cases of Friskies cat foods. So I guess you need to get those at Walmart, Target, or your local grocery store. They seem to have a little of everything...live rodents, Beta's, a few lizards, live insect feeders, fresh foods, and dog grooming - full service & self-service. The only things they don't have are live fish (except the Betas) and aquatics. The other big area I like about Angel's is cat adoption. There's a huge cat adoption area right up front. They're very serious about it. They also have a big display (in the entryway) of dogs that are up for adoption through local agencies. This is the kind of good-hearted thing that separates Angel's from the big box corporation pet stores. I had a chance to talk with Angel herself. She's a very nice person and she's super knowledgeable. Thanks, Angel's Pet World! -Daddy Maxx Retro
