Her demeanor felt off from the start, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and left. At 10:22 AM--just 12 minutes after drop-off and right as I walked through my front door--Cassandra called me. She suddenly claimed she is a "slow groomer," was running behind with another dog still to finish, couldn't guarantee 2:00 PM, and stated it would take a full 3 hours from then because my dog is "big." My dog is established client with charts on file, so her size and coat were well known before booking. When I pointed out that it is completely unprofessional to take in a dog knowing you are already behind schedule, Cassandra abruptly refused service, stating "she didn't want to groom my dog." Between her erratic communication, backtracking on the timeline minutes after I walked out, and my dog's uncharacteristic reluctance at check-in, I did not feel my pet was safe in her care and went straight back to pick her up. The owner was not on-site, and while another employee promised the owner would call me, that follow-up never happened. Pet owners trust groomers with both their schedules and their pets' well-being; this salon failed on both counts. Would not recommend.

Today's training for me and the pup with Mark was first rate. Clearly our dog now loves his behavioral training which is primary with obedience second. We've used Red Star for five years for boarding our two other dogs, a small mixed breed and a GSP. The GSP was always straining to get into Red Star so we knew from the beginning they were treated right. There's a reason dog lovers have brought their dogs here for training and boarding - some over 15 years. Quality, consistency, fairness to dogs and owners. We have used them at least 5 times in the past year and everytime they remember our dogs and are just as excited as the dogs are to see them. We typically board them but have also taken them in for nail trimmings and baths. They even offer joint rooms so Rex and Raiden were able to still be with each other in the new environment so we always tell our friends about Dogs At Play when they're looking for boarding!
