Hubby and I got tattoos from Jenn R today. After 1 month of non stop research in the DMV area, I reached out to Jenn on IG and she's very responsive. She's also very friendly in person! Weekend appointments tend to get booked far in advance. We went to her specifically for fine line tattoos. She listened to what we like and also provided her ideas and suggestions. My last tattoo was about 7 years ago, and some things have changed in the tattoo industry, and Jenn was patient to explain what the differences are nowadays. It was a very positive and relaxing experience. Now the studio itself: Fluid Ink is welcoming and not intimidating (which I often find at other studios). I agreed with Mr. Jason Nunley for more than a month, he was recommended by the receptionist of this office and recommended by Mr. Ivan Lopez and I paid him 100 dollars to save me my share, the vual would be today July 2. Three days ago I spoke with Mr. Hason to confirm my visit for today Friday July 2 and he told me that if we would meet today to do the work. Last night around 9:00 pm he wrote me a message telling me that he canceled my appointment because someone gave him the full money. It seems to me a lack of respect, lack of professional ethics, lack of word and lack of responsibility. I cannot trust people who work like this, much less in the name of this company that supports all its tattoo artists. It is proof that my appointment was canceled because someone paid him in full. This proves the lack of respect, lack of professional ethics, lack of responsibility and the fact of producing mistrust or discrimination. He preferred to take someone who paid him in full, having paid my deposit of 100 dollars more than a month in advance and having confirmed three days ago that he would do the job for me. OMG, hands down on the best tattoo studio in the area. From the beginning consultation with Jen, who help me process my concerns and suggested the best artist for my ideas. We booked two appointments, one with Jason and in January will be doing a cover up with Antonio! Which I am super excited to work with. Went to the studio on Monday to see Jason, from beginning to finish he walked through the process of the best location for the tattoo. After, going back and fourth in conversation with him, he they suggested putting the tattoo stamp on both areas to see what I would like better. Which was so helpful, because of my indecisiveness. Eddie connects you with the perfect artist for the kind of design you envision. My artist, Lotoe, took my vision and created a custom design. He drew an original Phoenix on my arm, shoulder, and chest. I wanted to cover my chemo port and Lotoe was able to do so with beautiful artwork. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Fluid Ink this past weekend!!! I got my very first tattoo there and am so unbelievably satisfied. It started from my first consult, where I met with Eddie, who was really attentive to what I was looking for and took copious notes on what I had in mind. He suggested I work with Ivan because I had been looking for someone to do a watercolor-style tattoo. I am so grateful I got matched up with Ivan, who was so lovely to work with. He took my ideas from a Pinterest board ("I like these outlines" and "I like this illustration style" and "I want this shape") and managed to mesh them all into a really beautiful, cohesive design that is so unbelievably meaningful to me. He spent several hours painstakingly drawing up the draft until I was perfectly satisfied, and then he printed the stencil in several sizes so I could try it on in several different positions on my arm. I so appreciated Ivan's thoughtfulness, thoroughness, and attentiveness during this whole process, especially because it was my first tattoo and I had been pretty nervous. The shop was clean and super professional, and all the staff were so lovely to interact with and so supportive of one another's work. It really was a lovely place to spend five hours on a Saturday! Ivan and Eddie made sure to give me plenty of resources for pre- and post-care (such as Eddie recommending a few different types of lidocaine cream to apply before the tattoo and Ivan suggesting coconut oil and several different brands of moisturizer). Stay away from this place, dirty, smells like weed. Staff was unprofessional .If I could give it a lower score I would.

The artist I went to was sweating a whole lot during the session. He kept grabbing a paper towel and wiping his face with it and then would go straight back to tattooing without changing his gloves or ANYTHING. Long story short, my tattoo swelled up to twice the size of my arm within the first two hours of me leaving there. I have 20+ tattoos, so I know they swell slightly, but this blew up like a balloon. It eventually started peeling on its own because of the infection that formed. I had to go to the hospital two separate times because of it. While I was at the hospital I the doctor gave me two different pill antibiotics and an antibiotic ointment. That's three different antibiotics for this tattoo... they doctor even said this might be one of the worst tattoo infections he has ever seen. I called Fluid Ink and I told them what happened. They proceeded to tell me it was my own fault, that I didn't take care of it properly, or that I was, in their words, "allergic to coconut oil." I told them I use coconut oil on my face EVERYDAY and they STILL proceeded to tell me I was allergic to coconut oil. I have 20+ tattoos, NONE of them have EVER been infected because I take amazing care of my tattoos, as I tried doing with this one. I really do think it's because the artist kept wiping his sweaty face, not changing his gloves and proceeding to tattoo me. I didn't want to go back in for the touch up, because why would I? They just messed my arm up and I had to pay for ALL of my medical bills. I asked if I could have the $300 dollars back since I payed for the second touch up appointment ahead of time, and they refused to give me MY money back. I went to a different shop to get it fixed, and what do you know? I encountered ZERO problems with the healing, because I take care of my tattoos. The artist would change his gloves every time he touched something that wasn't my skin. I had a horrible experience with Fluid Ink, and I would never recommend any friend to go there. Anytime a friend of mine tells me they are getting a tattoo, I always tell them to avoid this place like the plague. Anytime I show a friend pictures of what happened to arm arm, each person says the same EXACT thing, "you should sue that place! Or at LEAST get them to pay for your medical bills!" Again, long story short, I take amazing care of my tattoos, the artist kept wiping his sweaty face and not changing his gloves and proceeded to tattoo me, my arm got infected and they blamed ME. read more

I can't say thank you enough to Antonio and his staff. For the past 11 years I've been walking around with a horrible "cupcake" tattoo on my ankle. This tat has a lot of sentimental value to me as it pays homage to my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (further details aren't necessary, just know it's special!!). Anyways, I've been walking around with a horrible tattoo on my ankle for the past 11 years that people have often mistaken for a cheeseburger. After following Antonio on IG for quite some time, I finally decided enough was enough, and I reached out to the shop to have him rework my "cupcake". I spoke briefly with Antonio about how I wanted to keep the original design, but I wanted my cupcake to look like an actual cupcake. When I tell you he did his thing! I decided to cover the tat on my back first. The consultation - Jenny is amazing and super sweet. I felt like she was my sista from another mista! I sent the picture I wanted on my back, we set a date, and I was good to go. The tattoo - An amazing experience. Antonio is super cool and I verified the needles were unopened and up-to-date prior to the session beginning. My tattoo session took approx 6 hours. I am only giving 1 star because my initial interaction was positive. I showed up on March 26th for a consult and was told Ivan (not sure if that's the correct spelling) would be best suited to do my tattoo, but wasn't in that day. The guy at the front desk said that Ivan had stepped out and probably went to 7/11 and would be back in about 5 mins. I said ok and sat down while the guy called him and said "your consult is here and yeah I told her you stepped out and would be right back, she's waiting." 20 mins later I'm still sitting there and not one word was said to me. So I just got up and walked out. I've stewed in this for the last 2 hours and feel like they could have apologized and not lied to my face. I have plenty of tattoos and I've never had such an unprofessional experience in my life. So I can only speak on one artist in the shops because that's all I had the pleasure of dealing with. I had Jnoon outline my previously existing Tattoo (sleeve) and add my sponsor's logo to it. Everything went great But we ran out of time. i scheduled another appointment to have it finished and it was set for Feb 20. The night before my appointment he DM'd me stating he would have to reschedule me (bad weather) so I said ok and sent him my next few months off days. a week goes by and I hear nothing so I ask again. finally he responds and says soonest he has is March 20. 1 month for a push back date? For starters, I'm picky with my artists. Out of the 11 I have, majority came from one artist in the northern VA area... which I still would recommend and suggest. I stumbled upon Antonio's work via social media (Instagram to be specific) and I was definitely intrigued by his work. I fell in love with his pieces when it came to watercolor. He definitely has his own style and edge to his work. All of my pieces are black and gray.... so getting color was a big risk for me. The placement, the size, and the overall concept of what I drew up was still a blur. I walked in the shop for my consultation with a lot of hesitation. I was worried because I've only been dedicated to one guy and now I'm branching out. I didn't know how his personality was or how he basically priced his work. Within the first 5 min, I was comfortable. He listened to what I had to say and he knew I was indecisive about it. He offered suggestions, he was open to my ideas, it was the full 9 yards. I made my appt that day with a $100 deposit. Last night was my appt and I could not be happier with my piece. He gave me different sizes to see what would look best. The session took 5.5 hours with a few breaks in between. He used so many colors and was super detailed oriented.... and IT HURT LIKE A B****!!!! But he didn't let me pain stop him from getting the tiny little details in. Overall, great artist. Great work. Every person will suggest "their artist". Just see his work and actually talk to him. This review is long overdue ( sorry Antonio). I saw this shop and the DC tattoo convention and didn't realize they were so close to my home. Tucked away in a little office building on a side street in Arlington you would almost never know they are there. I think I had to wait about 6 months for my reservation but it was worth it. Antonio listen to my initial ideas , we both looked online and something and he came up with a great drawing. He printed several sizes so I could choose how big I was comfortable with before starting. Day of it was about 6 hours with a few breaks but Antonio powers through stopping several times to show me what he had done so far and make sure we were on the right path. Great personality. 9 years had passed since my last tattoo and I was looking for an artist who could create a botanical piece for my left side. I set up a consultation at Fluid Ink. I went to them with my ideas and scheduled an appointment to have the work done ~2 weeks later. The piece that Antonio created is absolutely beautiful. He really captured everything I had envisioned for the tattoo (my first color piece!) and made it come to life on my body. The shading, clean lines, and fluidity of the flowers are outstanding. I honestly couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. He was also very amenable to taking some breaks when I needed them. After 5 1/2 hours in the chair, I was cooked. Antonio and his wife, Jenny, run the shop together. They are extremely professional and friendly, and the shop is clean and well organized.
