Have seen beautiful work from this place and it came highly recommended, but never even made an appointment because how rude and disrespectful the guy at the counter was. His condescending attitude made me feel like my business was not welcome and I was an annoyance.
I went in yesterday with full intentions of making an appointment for three weeks from now and putting down a deposit on a tattoo. This was not my first tattoo and this was not something I had thought of while shopping on the streets of Georgetown. My friend and I had talked and researched for several weeks and finally decided on Jinx.
We knew we had to go in to put down a deposit and make our appointment in person. We explained to the guy at the counter what we wanted, where we wanted it and when. He was pretty happy to print out pictures for us, resize them according to what he thought was best and offer his opinion. After making the appointment he asked for a $50 deposit, which we had anticipated and were prepared to pay. Obviously though we wanted a price quote on how much each of our tattoos would cost.
The quote he gave both of us was way higher than either of us had expected, and we had expected high prices based on what we knew about Jinx. My reaction was a simple "Really?", at which the guy snapped my picture away and threw it away. Never once did I say I would not pay that price or react in a way that warranted his rude response. My friend and I said we needed a minute to discuss it and think it over, since we were making a decision about a permanent piece of body art.
His rude reaction and the price combined allowed us to think that perhaps our business would be more welcome some place else, but we still never decided against Jinx, just needed some time to shop around some more. When we told the guy our intentions, and made it very clear that we could quite possibly be back, he snapped with saying there were a million places we could go in Georgetown and if we really wanted we could get ours done for $30 (mine) and $110 (my friends) some place else. We told him we realized that and that we still wanted to think about it. I asked him if he threw out my picture and he replied that he would keep it, cutting me off before I even asked if I could have it.
The customer service at Jinx Proof made us decide to go all the way out to Sterling, to the Body Gallery which was our second choice, but very very far from our houses. In total our tattoos would have been over $500, which I know for Tattoos is not the most expensive. Yet in this economy I was shocked to be treated so poorly to the point that I will never go back there or recommend that anyone else go there. Again I know the work that they do there is top quality and worth the money, and I wish I could say that for myself, but I would like to be treated with much more respect and professionalism if I am going to be handing over a large sum of money and making such a permanent decision about my body. read more
