During the entire time I sat waiting, no one came out to clean any of the dirty tables. I was literally sitting there looking at them the whole time. I normally don't leave negative reviews. If I simply don't like the food or drink, I usually move on and don't say anything. But in this case, the cleanliness, smell, long wait, and incorrect order made the overall experience disappointing enough that I felt it was worth mentioning. It's actually a really cool place with a unique interior and a lot of potential. I'm sharing this because I genuinely hope the owner sees the feedback and makes some improvements. I wasn't greeted but I wandered up to the register where an employee was listlessly -- and I mean LISTLESSLY - pushing around a few sad ice cream rolls. I said hello; I don't remember if the young female employee said anything back, she might've muttered an acknowledgement but it definitely wasn't a warm welcome. While that thought flickered through my mind, I abruptly heard her say, "I'm sorry." I assumed she was talking to me since I'd been waiting for a while, and so I reflexively said, "You're fine!" I quickly realized she wasn't speaking to me at all and was instead having a conversation on the phone through the headphones she was wearing. Nice. This went on for another minute or two -- it was a fairly personal conversation and she seemed to be consoling someone on the other end -- and I just decided it wasn't worth the hassle and frustration. Y'all know I try my best to be very forgiving of service and such but this was a bridge too far for me. At least they're handmade, but they're just okay basic sandwiches. - Only open Wednesday through Saturday. - No self-serve water and no water at all unless you purchase bottled water. The Lowe Mill is a historic building with prehistoric pipes that are filled with rust and lord only knows what other contaminants, so they can't offer you any tap water to drink. That's not their fault, but it's a bummer having to pay for water. - No outdoor seating because they're located inside the Lowe Mill. - Paper cups My husband and I frequent the Lowe Mill quite a lot and we love popping in for a coffee or tea. This isn't my go-to place for eats, so I can't rank them higher, but they do offer a really good tea service if you book a reservation in advance. They have the best ambiance of any coffee shop in town. They're worth checking out just for the atmosphere alone.
