Great little stop on our visit to Huntsville. They have lots of drinks options that sounded delicious and a good number of food options for our lunch too. My husband and I have been to this coffee shop many times and have even tried their tea service. I'd say it's more of a 3.5 stars place, but I round up for Yelp. For the record, any place I give 3.5 is a place I'd be willing to return to, so they're okay. Pros - Great location at the Lowe Mill. - Cozy atmosphere. I can't say enough how much I LOVE the decor of the Dragon's Forge. I'm a fantasy nerd, and this place is decked out with dragons, swords, medieval everything, and even the music they play is appropriately themed. - Great service - Great coffee and a huge selection of tea with some really fun and inventive flavors. They also make a good Chai latte. - A menu board - A great selection of pastries. - You can book an afternoon tea service that includes sandwiches with sweet and savory pastries. Cons - While their pastries are good, their regular sandwiches are pretty awful. They're the prepacked sandwiches you can get at any gas station. If you get their tea service, the sandwiches are better. At least they're handmade, but they're just okay basic sandwiches. - Only open Wednesday through Saturday. - No self-serve water and no water at all unless you purchase bottled water. The Lowe Mill is a historic building with prehistoric pipes that are filled with rust and lord only knows what other contaminants, so they can't offer you any tap water to drink. That's not their fault, but it's a bummer having to pay for water. - No outdoor seating because they're located inside the Lowe Mill. - Paper cups My husband and I frequent the Lowe Mill quite a lot and we love popping in for a coffee or tea. This isn't my go-to place for eats, so I can't rank them higher, but they do offer a really good tea service if you book a reservation in advance. They have the best ambiance of any coffee shop in town. They're worth checking out just for the atmosphere alone. read more

This is every fantasy lovers dream hangout! It's located inside of Lowe Mill Arts Center on the 2nd floor. They sell a variety of artsy things on here from jewelry to notebooks. They have a decent amount of food and treats to choose from and even give the option to have a tea party. I tried their Elven Kiss Latte and the Fairy Garden Iced Tea. The coffees are a little too sweet for me, so next time I'd cut the syrup in half. The tea was perfect. I love the decor throughout. You'll notice different things from eyeball flowers to a dragon throne. read more

We tried this new little coffee shop on Saturday. Located in the old Alchemy coffee lounge on the 2nd floor of Lowe Mill, Dragon's Forge brings a nerdy flair to the artsy community. Stepping inside, the space is warm and cozy, with all sorts of fantasy inspired art scattered about. Each specialty drink has a hand-drawn dragon mascot that goes along with it, and there's fun memorabilia for the dragons -- stickers, T-shirts, buttons, etc. There's other kind of geeky, quirky flair, too -- cartoony kittens and possums and raccoons with funny sayings emblazoned on all the aforementioned goodies. There's ample seating and big windows looking out over Lowe Mill. Board games are available to play with friends (D&D is highly encouraged!), and there's a comfy fireplace to read by. You can schedule a tea party with friends, fancy dishes and all. Overall, very fun concept executed quite well. Service was friendly and dressed in cute regalia. Our drinks came out quickly. Boyfriend had a hot chocolate and picked up a ham and cheese sandwich from the cold case, while I ordered an iced "Vi's favorite," coffee with hazelnut and chocolate flavors along with a coffee cake muffin. We liked both drinks well enough, though they hedged a little sweet for both of our tastebuds, especially the hot chocolate. The ham and cheese was good as far as pre-prepared sandwiches go, with soft white bread and high quality ham. The coffee cake muffin was kind of disappointing: very large portion size, but dense and not super flavorful. Overall, this is a fun new place to visit, has solid drinks, and fits in well with the culture of Lowe Mill. read more

Nice little setting at the far end of floor 2, at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, to grab a snack and drink and get off your feet for a few minutes. Staff here were really friendly and helpful to make recommendations from the menu. They also let us know about modifications they could make (such as no espresso in the milkshakes - win for me!). Like the décor, giving it a kind of castle feel. Also, very fitting, they have days that they do D & D - so if you're a fan, get on the website and check out the schedule. Prices are reasonable for the type of shop that this is and what you are getting. Drinks were good, I really can't remember the name of my shake, but it was a toasted marshmallow shake. It was certainly sweet, and I drained it pretty quickly!! I'd definitely recommend and it's a good spot to stop and get off your feet for a few minutes before going on with your journey's at Lowe. read more

I wanted to love it. The staff is super great and friendly! 100% staff all the way. Initially the decor is very fun and whimsical. After spending 20-30 min the vibe I get is a kind of neglectful good enough feel. No vegetarian or special dietary needs food menu options. Small pastry selection as in 4 types of cookie, 3 cake type options and no they can't warm it and no there is no microwave. My husband got a sandwich which was ok. This place is so cool!!! The fantasy theming is lots of fun and the food is fabulous! I enjoyed a health potion cherry lemonade, the Eloise special soup, chicken salad sandwich, and a cream cheese danish. Not a disappointing dish among them. The danish might have been the best I've had. The pastry was so rich and buttery. The Eloise special soup was very hearty and loved the soft roll it came with. Next time I come back I want to try their milkshakes or get a group together for a tea party. It looks like they have game nights weekly. Big time looking forward to that. How disappointing. We were so looking forward to our high tea today. They pointed us to our table instead of seating us. The food was brought with no explanation of what was being served . There was no napkins or water brought to us . 15 mins after getting our food, I went up and had to tell them what tea we wanted instead of asking what we wanted after bringing the food . The sandwiches were made in house, But nothing else was hand made, store bought pastries. Absolutely no table service at all! Total waste of money and time. read more

House-made lunch-type sandwiches (ham and american cheese, for example on thick white bread (with crust) and mediocre store-bought pastries. The only water available is bottled. We scheduled a high tea for 4 and were so looking forward to it as the pictures online looked amazing! When we arrived we were pointed to our table in the back not seated, our food was brought out and after they there was zero interaction with any staff. No water at the table, silverware or napkins. About 15 minutes after our food was brought over we had to seek out an employee to tell them what tea we wanted, they should have been asked when the food was brought or prior to. We were finished eating before we even got our tea. For 63 bucks for a high tea service these are things that should be done. The food was only ok, sandwiches were house made but all the pastries you could tell were store bought. Zero service, zero follow up and definitely not worth the money. You cannot advertise a high tea if you're not sure how to put one on. A high tea has specific standards. Yes the restaurant is cute, the decor is neat it looks like a castle but the high tea and service was definitely a let down. . read more
