Lovely family dinner at Flour. Service was great and server was super helpful. Interior is a little austere but it is a large space with lots of windows. I think it will seem nicer when construction outside is completed. Noise level is good. No trouble having conversation with our large group. We all ordered salads and entrees. She circled back to say we maybe had toooooo much salad coming to the table. We ended up with 3 salads for the 6 that we shared family style. I loved the arugula prosciutto salad and am thankful she suggested we share! Caesar was a bit bland but the croutons were flavor packed! Perhaps a dinner salad or half portion would be a good addition to the menu. Entrees were all good. Chicken parm was a huge portion. The teenage boys were in the clean plate club, everyone else had leftovers. I had the lamb rigatoni and it was quite tasty. Bolognese was also good. My sister had the lentil dish with chicken, and said it was very flavorful with a pesto-ish sauce. Desserts were also good.....although one nephew said - what no cannoli or tiramisu! I had the lemon tarts. Very tasty. The chocolate peanut butter ganache was excellent but extremely rich. Share it! The blood orange gelato was excellent! All in all a great meal and nice addition to upscale eats in the area. read more

We've been going to Flour in Moreland Hills since Paul Minillo first opened it in a then-new format that was trending nationally at the time: a more relaxed, upscale fine-dining experience versus the formal Continental style he'd become known for at the legendary Baricelli Inn. When we moved from Shaker to Richfield, one of the things we missed most was the easy access to this restaurant--we still went, just less frequently because of the drive. When Paul gradually transitioned ownership and operations to Matt, we were pleased to see the core dishes remain on the menu, with the same consistently high quality. So imagine our delight when Flour's new location opened practically in our backyard. We had our first meal there yesterday, and it was the same solid Flour experience we've enjoyed for years in Moreland Hills. Standouts, as always: * the fried olives (a staple--don't skip them) * Caesar and field-greens salads * fungi, pepperoni, and cheese wood-fired pizzas * stuffed peppers in marinara (a personal favorite and, in my opinion, one of the best preparations in the region) We had originally planned to bring one of my best friends and his family here while they were visiting from Colorado, but the weather pushed us to do takeout instead. I did get to see the space when I picked up the order, though--and it's beautiful: large windows, a central bar, an open-air kitchen, and the same inviting layout that makes the Moreland Hills location so fun and relaxing. The staff were warm, welcoming, and especially helpful walking me through menu options for four adults and two ten-year-old girls. So happy to see an oasis of quality open up in what is otherwise an Independence-to-Akron food desert--and thrilled that one of my favorite Northeast Ohio restaurants was the one to do it (note Dante's new Masu is next door - another favorite NEO chef and we will be checking it out, too, soon). The food is over priced and very very small portions. As you can see in the picture attached, this is a "full portion" that cost $25!! I am shocked and in disbelief that they can charge $25 for a pasta portion meant for a toddler. & when I went back in asking if this was a full portion she said "yes honey it is". Very disappointing. When you stop into this restaurant make sure you see the bartender/server named Katie. She is truly one of the reasons Flour is such an exceptional place to dine. Her service is consistently top‑notch --attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. She explains the food, drinks, and specials with total ease and expertise, and her recommendations are always spot‑on. She works incredibly hard, yet somehow maintains the most positive, welcoming demeanor. Loved being able to sit at the bar. Such a vibrant and good vibe on a Friday evening. The stuffed olives with goat cheese and a really good dipping sauce were the perfect way to start - glad we got to try these. The gluten free pasta with clams was also delicious. Love their take on the clam sauce on this dish - like a spicy olive oil with chili paste gave it a really good flavor. Garlicky too! My friend loved her pizza. Wish they had a gluten free option - maybe one day. We will be back again. Have to try some dessert next time! read more

We had heard really good things about the Moreland Hills Flour so we were excited one was opening a few minutes from us. We went on a Tuesday night. Ambiance is just okay. I guess it's meant to be a pretty casual place. They brought focaccia and olive oil to table. Focaccia was ok; olive oil was really good! Very peppery. We started with calamari. It was pretty heavily breaded and a little too chewy. We didn't finish it. I then ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza. It was very good but pretty salty. Mushrooms were awesome - not your usual white ones. My husband had the salmon which he said was very good. No side dish with it, those you order separately. Side note: for xmas eve we ordered their large pan of lasagna and everyone loved it. I wish this place was better. It's so close to us but I doubt we'll go back. read more

They are a newly opened restaurant, so I 100% understand getting open and working out the issues. We ordered pizzas for takeout and they were pretty good. The price is definitely high for the quality of pizza, but it was pretty good. I did like the atmosphere when I went in to pick my order up. We were excited to try Flour for my grandpas birthday. Unfortunately the experience didn't have a great start. It took us 45 minutes to get drinks. Apps took over an hour. I know it's not our waitresses fault, but she rarely checked in on us for drink refills or to apologize for the wait. Despite the wait, the food was good, but we spent over 2 hours in the restaurant. We had a reservation at the new Flour at Valor Acres this past Saturday. We were seated in the corner by the server station and could hear conversations by staff - was not an optimal seat (and we had made the reservation earlier in the week). The pasta was very disappointing - never had pasta that was such a strange gummy texture. The sauce was not remarkable. A pasta bolognese it was NOT, and it looked like Chef-boyardee. Pizza was good but very expensive for the size. Ambience was good. Bread and olive oil best thing on the table. VERY EXPENSIVE and not worth it. Service was okay, but felt forgotten by the end. Went tonight with my wife for an early Valentines Day. Kim was our server and she steered us right Drinks were great....I had the gin-ginger cocktail. Wife had the Rose'. Calamari was the best we have ever had. Wife had the lobster gnocchi (v day special) I had the Ribeye. Both were very good, we also got a side of the spinach and potatoes. Spent almost $400. On two small trays of chicken and salmon piccata through their catering menu. Expecting to present my guests with an elegant entree, it was anything but. The most disappointing issue was the chicken was grilled with defining grill marks and the sauce was more like thin soup with no recognizable taste of lemon or butter. I feel ripped off. They should stop calling this piccata because one, you don't make piccata with grilled chicken, and two, by definition, the sauce should be velvety with lemon and butter. Came for dinner with reservations. We were looking forward to a new spot in Brecksville but left feeling like it was an expensive night out for just an okay experience. Took a while for a server to come to the table. Took a very long time to get the drinks we ordered two separate times. Took about 20 minutes for an espresso martini. One of us ordered another glass of wine when our meal came and the wine didn't come til the end of our meal and we had to ask twice for it. The sausage pizza was ok a bit spicy. The Chicken Parmesan was pretty basic nothing that makes you want to come back. Modern decor, dim lighting, depending on how busy it is there is a bit of a walk to parking. read more

Excellent addition to the Brecksville dining scene. Beautiful design with open kitchen provides a vibrant dining experience. I have to believe that the outdoor seating will be very popular this summer. Service was point on for a busy Saturday night, which is a challenge with any new restaurant.
