Solid 4.5 out of 5 stars! Go during the summer months. You will see more species of sharks and the water will be warmer, our guides said you can see up to 6 different kinds. Overall great experience, especially because my friend and I missed our turn and had to move to a later group. The guides were nice and energetic and you know they were working hard; we were their last group of the day! It was more of a snorkel endeavor, and they had everyone hold onto a rope attached to the boat. One of the crew member was free diving and she got very close to the sharks and took everyone photos. Honestly wish I was certified, bc diving with sharks seems much cooler than snorkeling with them. Guess that'll b my next adventure!

Best adventure of my adult life...I've wanted to swim with sharks forever. I didn't expect my first time to be in open water but it was AMAZING once the rush of fear washed away after seeing these Apex predators in their domain. Our dive master Sophie was a true professional and absolute badass feeding and photographing the sharks and divers from all angles. Captain Curt was a true seaman captain type, rough and rugged but knows his fish. Overall the adventure was perfect for me. Here are the few feedback items for future divers and the reasons why I didn't give them a 5 star: 1 - The cages aren't going to be there. Not an issue for me or my buddy, but one guy in our group was very afraid when he found out there wasn't cages. Maybe other dive sessions do use cages, but the 2 boats that showed up for the 2 groups I went with were not large enough to pull a cage to sea. So be warned, you'l most likelyl be free dive snorkeling and you will be pretty safe. 2 - The pace at which the captain and diver go is a tad bit intense for first time divers. It was basically hammer to the floor out to the dive site at about 20-30 knots. Once the boat stops, it's here get dressed as fast as you can. Then jump in. Not an issue for a military man like me, but I could tell the man and girl who wanted a cage were a bit weary to go in and they ended up getting out after about 15 minutes. Needless to say, the captain and his diver are 100% professionals and know the shark life well...trust them and don't let your fears ruin the dive. I'll be back for more...I want to meet a Bull, Tiger, and Hammerhead still. See you guys in a few months. PS get the picture/video package you'll love it.

Amazing experience swimming with bull sharks with no cage. The Bullies are huge and extremely friendly. Up close and personal. Take the boat a bit out, find the congregation, throw in the bait box, observe their behavior before jumping in and grabbing a line. The water visibility was pretty decent and the temperature was borderline wetsuit. I would recommend buying the photo package. We had the go pro so skipped it, but the team takes some pretty clean shots. An experience of a lifetime. We will be back.

Great time, well worth the money. Recommend getting the picture and video package. You feel same the whole time and it is a fantastic experience!

Hands down one of the best experiences of our lives!! We went in late February and the water was fantastic! Clear and smooth. We were out on the boat with 3 guides, a total of 5 guests. Got to our location and the sharks seemed to be waiting for us there! Guides were great with giving direction and helping with gearing up. We got in the water with snorkel gear, held on to a buoy and rope, and watched as 12-15 bull sharks approached and swam around us, getting within feet of us. Amazing experience that we will never forget. Got the picture and video package and will upload some of the highlights once we receive them. Highly recommend!! Giant thanks to D and the crew for a life time experience!

An absolutely AMAZING experience -- this was a birthday gift to my husband who has always been fascinated with sharks. Prior to our excursion, we no kidding had 4 or 5 scheduling conflicts between travels and a few unexpected obligations; I emailed back and forth with the FSD team about our conflicts and we're so grateful for their assistance in making sure we were able to make our dive date. On the day we ~finally~ were able to make it out, we were given the choice of cage diving or free diving... CHOOSE TO FREE DIVE!!!!! As anxious as you might be...this is the best choice. Promise. Our guides took us onto the open ocean first thing in the morning.. [Pro tip -- bring sunscreen for the ride out & back!!!] and drove us a few miles out while briefing the group of what to expect. Our small group of six was given swim-shirts, flippers, snorkels, life jackets, and goggles and we were able to jump in! Anyone free-diving is required to spread out along a rope to control the space between us and the staff responsible for feeding. We were so excited to see no less than 20 sharks below us (only interested in their chummy meal)!! Prior to our day our, my husband and i chose to purchase the photo/video package (photos attached) and were glad we did. Great photo quality and visual memories of our trip out. Would recommend this diving company to anyone who loves the open water and wildlife! 10/10 day with the sharks

I wanted to give my son an experience he would never forget for his 16th birthday, so I booked him a trip here. The communication with the company through booking and payment was very smooth. Yesterday we went out on our excursion. Captain Kisane and Janelle we're very informative in explaining everything that was going to happen, and their expectations of us while in the water. There had one more employee on the boat with us, but she did not speak with us so I can't remember her name. I can't explain why my son and I had no fear, but I think it's because we felt safe with the team we were with. When we got in the water there was already for sharks there, all bull sharks. I think at one point we had seven sharks. I heard Janelle say they were all bulls, and one Caribbean reef shark. It was AMAZING to be so close to them, and just watch them and their natural environment! It is surely something that we will never forget! If I had one complaint, it was that I was told we would be provided wetsuits on board. They gave us t-shirts and gloves to wear instead. My son and I were absolutely freezing because we had a little bit of a cold snap, and the air was 73. But other than that, the trip was perfect. I paid extra to have the pictures and video of our trip, but I won't be getting those for a week. I can't wait to see what they captured. Here are a couple underwater photos I took with my camera. If you are looking for an experience you will never forget oh, look no further!

Great trip with Captain John and Janelle today! Our group of 6 saw bull, sand and reef shatks the entire dive. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I have dove with sharks before but this experience with sharks in the Atlantic Ocean was top on my list of things to do! Open water- we decided to snorkel. If you have never snorkeled, practice before you go as learning how to breathe through snorkel in rolling seas can be a little tricky. It was flat the day we went so very easy to snorkel and to get on and off boat. Great crew, Dïana and Captain John! So friendly and knowledgeable of the sharks. Gave us really good tips and allowed us lots of time in the water with the sharks. They were a very chill crew. We were definitely comfortable with them. We had reef, sand and silky sharks. I can say that my new favorite shark is the silky. She was so beautiful! So graceful. This is a MUST DO if you are heading to FL. We were in Orlando and it took us 2 hours 15 minutes to get there. Just jump on turnpike! Do not miss doing this if you love sharks and or want to learn about them. Don't forget to take your GoPro or buy the pictures from the crew.

Just like everybody else, this experience was an absolute dream! I just want to take a second to brag on Sophia because she was the absolute sweetest and did an amazing job at informing us of what was going on. She would pop up above water every now and then and let us know what shark was what species, and let us know how much time we had left. She took wonderful pictures and had such a high energy that you couldn't help but smile while talking to her. She made the trip even more special. Also, a huge thank you to Capt. Curtis as well! It was raining and had the potential to storm, however he stayed on board to watch the radar and make sure we were safe the whole time. Also, I had never snorkeled before so I got very overwhelmed as soon as I first got in the water. He was so kind and patient because I had to get back on the boat on two separate occasions during our dive because I started to freak out (which was no one's fault except mine and the rough water due to weather). He let me sit on board and he talked me through it and told me what a great job we all were doing. Honestly the sharks are amazing and a once in a lifetime thing, but the staff is so wonderful that it just makes the experience even more meaningful. One last thing: BRING CASH TO TIP YOUR CREW!!! I do not carry extra cash with me on vacation so I wasn't able to tip (and we are from Texas so I did not know tipping was customary for things like this) and I have felt horrible about it because they deserve a tip BIG TIME. Hopefully this review will let them know how much I loved them despite my lack of a tip :(

What a great experience! Our guide was wonderful. We saw several sharks. Very relaxing and not intimidating at all.

WHAT. AN. EXPERIENCE! It started with good response time through email answering all my questions. I got to the boat ramp and while we were waiting for the rest of the party to show up, they answered everyone else's questions. This was an AMAZING once in a lifetime experience! We saw 15 bull sharks and a lemon shark. There's a rope to hang on to if you want to feel secure. They also have life jackets too so you don't have to worry about swimming while trying to watch. Captain Curtis and Janelle were the best! We got to go on Captain Curtis's charter boat so we were spoiled. Everyone had a great time!

What's the pricing like? I'm 16 and want to take all my friends out diving but obviously price is a big thing for us. And would I need like a parent sign off or something since I'm a minor? Is it cage diving or free diving?

It's about $200 per person $195 I believe is what it says on the website. They have cage and free dive we originally booked for cage but the water was too choppy and it would bash us around so we did free dive. Free dive was so much better. Can't… Read more

Before booking, we were very clear that we were relatively new divers and had never done a drift dive. We specifically expressed that we wanted to feel safe and properly supported. We were assured it would be fine, but once we were in the water, the support simply wasn't there. There was very little help with weights at the start. I quickly realized I was underweighted and had to go back and get more, which immediately separated me from the group. From there, things only got worse. I ended up alone on the reef during a drift -- something that should never happen -- and ultimately had to surface solo and wait for the boat by myself. To make matters worse, my surface marker/flag device wouldn't inflate properly, and I had to be picked up alone. At no point did I feel like anyone from the team was proactively ensuring I was safe or accounted for. Afterward, the only response I received was essentially, "Sorry you had a bad experience." That was the extent of the support. The diving itself may be beautiful, but the staff's lack of attentiveness and concern for client safety and experience was deeply disappointing. When newer divers communicate nervousness and inexperience with drift diving, that should be taken seriously -- not brushed aside. This wasn't about conditions or bad luck. It was about a lack of care and leadership. I would not recommend this operation to newer divers, and I left feeling unsettled rather than excited about the dive.

Their service and…read moreprofessionalism are evident, and they still have great personalities that keep the anxious divers relax. The story: My wife has been diving for 20 years but has never seen a hammerhead shark. When we were looking at different charter companies for shark diving, we found Emerald Charters and had multiple phone calls back and forth with Randy, the owner, setting up the trip and also answering LOTS of questions. My wife had no concerns whatsoever, but after talking to some people who told horror stories of being thrown into the water after they drop chum in, I had questions I have a hard time believing that that can even be true, buuut it did prompt me to ask Randy. So it turns out that Emerald doesn't do it that way. We would be following a guy with a bait bin (think of fish parts in a big cat toy) and never actually be in contact with the bait. Phew! Randy is in charge of the boat. The scuba portion and gear is provided by a concierge scuba outfit called Jupiter Scuba. We contacted them the days before the dive. They helped us fill out all the forms and made sure we had the gear we needed for the dive. It was going to be a 3-tank drift dive across a wreck field, so we knew that getting cold could be a factor in late March. We rented one of those giant, fluffy warming coats for my wife during the surface interval. She gets cold usually by the end of the 1st dive, and we wanted to make sure she got all 3 dives in to have a chance to see her hammerhead. The place you meet is under an overpass where there is a fishing dock and ample parking. It also appeared clean and safe - but the town is also pretty nice. We passed the turn on the first try because we were looking for an address marker on a storefront when all we had to do was turn left under the overpass. Pretty sure that was on us. The gear was all there waiting for us and we went through the Nitrox mix on our tanks and checked our rental gear. We only rented fins, wet suits, and hoods, but others came with just bathing suits. The gear was in good shape and easy to use, and after we had all checked through in the parking area, they brought all the gear down to the boat. All we had to do was walk. At the boat, we met Randy who introduced our Skipper, Brandon and deck hand Shelly. They both did a great job the entire time. Brandon handled the boat like a pro. He minimized rolling and was always to us quickly and safely when we surfaced. Shelly was on the spot for everything we needed including helping me escape from the bungie holding my tank in when I had only seconds to get up and dive. She rocks! The boat was comfortable for the 14 divers we had. The head was clean and easy to use. We saw 20 plus lemon sharks every dive. They are actually sort of tame. During the second dive, an 8 foot, juvenile tiger shark came in at the end, and the third dive had all the lemons, the tiger returning and staying most of the dive, and even Thor, the 10 foot great hammerhead, visited. It was amazing!! the return back to the docks was comfortable and easy as was the offload. The Good: Nice boat, comfortable and well appointed. Very knowledgeable staff who helped us with every problem that arose. Great dive and a wonderful day. The Bad: Nothing at all. The mediocre: Really nothing. Overall: We will dive with Emerald again when we return. I have no reservations about recommending them. Since you read this far: Some people have a problem with bait diving for sharks. It is true that this activity is modifying their behavior to a certain extent, but so is every other thing that man does in the ocean. I believe in conservation and not preservation, so I believe that the more people have a chance to see sharks in person and experience the simple, calm, and pleasant interactions, it will change their opinion about sharks in general. I believe this will lead to greater conservation efforts and people will STOP EATING SHARK FIN SOUP! Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk :-)

We tried calling but they don't have voice mail set up. She said she gets "thousands of calls" and didn't want to set it up. Employees park in the parking spot reserved for loading/unloading tanks so we had to walk our tanks across the parking lot. We will not be using their shop any longer and I would others to stay away. There are better dive shops in the area.

We met up with friends from the Down Under Dive Club in Melbourne, FL (the Florida one, not the Aussie one), and everything ran like clockwork. Drop your gear, they load it. Finish your dives, they unload it. Zero hassle, zero stress. Jessica, our dive guide, and Kayla, the deckhand, were absolute pros - organized, attentive, and on-point. Both drift dives were well briefed, smooth, and comfortable for everyone on board. The surface‑interval touches were great too: cold sodas, plenty of water, and fresh watermelon that hit the spot. Kyalami is easily one of the top dive charter operations in south Florida. I almost want to keep them a secret , but they've more than earned the shout‑out. Can't wait to go diving with them again!

My wife and I just finished several weeks of diving in the area with Kyalami and had a fantastic…read moretime. We completed 26 dives each out of both Palm Beach and Jupiter, including a PADI Deep Diver certification before heading to the Blue Hole in Belize. The Kyalami team is outstanding -- true professionals who run a tight operation but still know how to keep things fun. From the office staff to the boat crew, everyone is attentive and detail-oriented. If I had one minor critique, it would be the requirement to complete a waiver for every dive day. There is no legal reason this can't be done once at least per year or season. It was a minor annoyance every day we dove (which was a lot) The diving here is excellent -- it's hard to believe this level of quality exists just a short boat ride off the coast. We dive in January-February and water temperatures ranged from 71-75°F. I wore a 3mm full wetsuit with gloves and a hood and was comfortable, though it was a bit chilly on the colder days. Visibility varied but was often very good. Only a couple of dives were scrubbed due to weather or rough seas. They aren't afraid to cancel if conditions aren't safe -- something we genuinely appreciate. Don't miss visiting Jasper the Goliath Grouper at Breakers Reef or the massive Goliaths and lemon sharks on the Jupiter Wreck Trek. We even had a rare hammerhead sighting during our stay and some massive bull sharks on our deep dive! Top-notch diving with a top-notch crew. We plan to return annually and are even considering a winter home in Florida close enough to dive with them regularly. Can't wait to go back and dive with Kyalami.
