Florida Cracker Kitchen - Riverside Resort - hanging out on some chairs - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Homosassa, Florida

This is our first time at this location. We'd previously been to the location in Brooksville,FL and it was a 5! This one was a little disappointing and I give it a 3. We had the chicken fingers with fries and the shrimp with fried potatoes. The food looked great! But although the quality was good all the food was bland. We had to use a lot of salt and pepper to get flavor. The restaurant was cute inside and was pretty busy. We were served promptly but once the food arrived we never saw another person. Had to go to the counter to get a box for the remaining food. We were going to pick up one of the famous cinnamon rolls but after the bland food and lack of follow up we decided against it. Maybe an off day but it may be a while before we come back to this location. Ok food... ok mood! read more

Friendly service. Quick and efficient. Huge portions! We were seated immediately outside on the patio. Our waitress came right over and took our drink orders. They have several types of mimosas. We went with cranberry. Ordered our food and amazingly it came out hot and fresh within less than 15 minutes! Everything was cooked exactly as requested, the portions were generous and it all tasted delicious! Wish we could have tried their homemade cinnamon rolls but maybe next time. Tip: they are cash only but there is an ATM onsite. read more

Came here for lunch with a friend.. parking is a little strange, no parking close to the Restaurant, you have to park behind on gravel..very welcoming when you come inside, there is a little gift shop with branded merchandise and more...this place is Cash only too...it is very homey feeling and a comfortable atmosphere inside. Very nice server, ordered drinks and she gave us time to look over menu..no straws with drinks since they are by the water...ordered lunch, my friend ordered a Breakfast Burrito and liked it, I ordered a Shrimp Basket and it tasted like someone dumped the whole container of salt in the batter, I had my friend try one in case I was mistaken and she agreed...no way...let the waitress know and she gladly replaced it for me, ordered. a Chicken sandwich instead, it was o.k. service was prompt and friendly, food was o.k. would make this a regular place to visit? Probably not but they have a nice variety of Breakfast items for you to choose from for a hot meal if you are in the area... read more

The service is the only thing I can say is good about this place. Got a lot of feedback from people that go there and they say it's hit or miss. Apparently I went on a miss day. I'm not saying the food is bad. I'm just saying that I was not impressed. Sad thing is I hear they know on the Shamrock and floral city. I have spoken to people that have gone there and say they will not go back. read more

The Florida Cracker Kitchen is our go to breakfast place when vacationing in Homosassa, Florida. We've had just about everything on the breakfast menu and honestly you can't go wrong with any dish. Their French toast, skillet potatoes and sausage are really good. The portions are huge so if you go away hungry, it's your own fault. The wait staff are always friendly and fast. The atmosphere is Old Homosassa fishing. I love it here. read more

I have been wanting to go to Florida Cracker Kitchen for such a long time but rarely was in Brooksville to go so imagine my surprise and delight when I heard they opened a Florida Cracker Kitchen in Old Homosassa!! Located in the Resort Complex called Florida Cracker Riverside Resort near the Monkey Bar - aptly named because of a little island where monkeys live and you can eat and have some drinks watching their antics! Florida Cracker Kitchen is right across the parking lot with a little souvenir store in front with Florida Cracker Kitchen clothing and products you can buy. Enter through the gift shop's back door into the restaurant. The restaurant has old country decor with booths on the sides and tables dispersed throughout. Small but cozy and very busy when we were there. Our waitress was a sweet young lady who took care of us very well, brought our drinks right away. Unsweetened Ice tea was good with a few slices of lemon. My husband and brother ordered the same plate Country Fried Steak with gravy, two eggs over easy, home fries with toast. They both said that Florida Cracker Kitchen's sausage gravy was the BEST gravy they've ever had and believe me when I said they have eaten their weight in sausage gravy! I opted for something unique on their menu that tweaked my interest. I ordered their version of Shrimp and Grits called 10,000 Island Shrimp and Grits. Generous portion of fresh shrimp served with their tomato gravy and bacon served over a fried Grits cake. I've never seen or tasted a dish like this anywhere else. The overall flavor of the shrimp and gravy was delicious. It reminded me of a stewed tomato dish with extra flavors especially with chopped up bacon mixed throughout. The grit cake was a triangle shaped fried cake of Grits. It was good and paired well with the gravy. The portion was nice sized but I'm a Grits girl especially with lots of butter and cheese. While the dish was very good it didn't give me my Grits "fix". It's great for those wanting something different and may just convert those who don't like Grits to loving them. Next time I want to try their 10,000 Island Shrimp with regular Grits which my waitress said is also an option!! So happy!! A very solid restaurant for good Florida Cracker homestyle cooking and a very welcome addition to our town. We definitely will be repeat customers and will stop and watch the monkeys from time to time!! read more

On a recent girls trip, we ended up stopping in to Florida Cracker Kitchen for breakfast. We were seated quickly and our waitress was promptly available to obtain our drink orders. She (waitress) was great. Seeing that we were on a birthday girls trip, I inquired about "adult beverages". She informed us that their liquor license was coming soon but not in place yet (this was in May of 2022). She suggested we walk across the street to the bar and purchase drinks to bring back. Needless to say, that's exactly what we did while the kitchen was preparing our breakfast. While I personally was on a liquid diet, everyone else enjoyed their meals. I will absolutely be back! Great food and friendly service. There is also a gift shop adjacent to the restaurant and has tons of t-shirts, sunscreen, sunglasses, and Florida souvenir's. read more

Review by My Out n About - Robert and Sheila Henley FB - https://www.facebook.com/groups/myoutnabout Bar 1609 of 1800 different bars Name: Florida Cracker Kitchen Location: Homosassa, FL Date: 03/28/24 Overall Rating (1-10) 4 Description: Very popular complex, with a hotel, bar, kitchen, marina, etc. The kitchen side has Bloody Mary's, beer, etc. CASH ONLY We went for breakfast. When we entered the restaurant, we should have known how it was going to be. The music was very load for 7:00 in the morning. The waitress started to seat us under one of the speakers so I asked to be seated somewhere else. Even moving as far away as possible, it was hard talking with each other. Sheila had the cinnamon roll they brag about on their menu. I had their FCK French Toast. The Cinnamon Roll was about the worst there is. It was hard and dry. However, It was large as advertised, but I strongly do not recommend it. The French toast was almost equally as bad. All I could taste was cinnamon. It was also very dry, I'm not sure there was any egg applied. Also, not recommended. Great food!! Cinnamon rolls to die for!! Service is good and fast but be prepared to wait!!

We're still talking about our experience here, a month later and back in CO. We were driving back from doing tourist shit on our trip to Florida, and I yelped for a good rated place to eat. After looking at the menu, I knew I found the place. It was off our beaten path but when you're on vaca, you want to try LOCAL eats. This place was HANDS DOWN the best place we ate on our trip. The staff immediately greeted us with big smiles and warm welcomes, something I deeply appreciate being in food and beverage myself. We started off with a cinnamon roll. Just do it. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles, I got a scramble. Both were delicious, but the CHICKEN AND WAFFLES ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!! Seriously?! The BEST fried chicken west of the Mississippi. I can't. stop. thinking. about. them. Go here. Enjoy the local love, spread the love, tip big, smile back, and eat until you can't anymore. Hats off to FCC read more

It might be a smaller menu but everything on it that we have tried is really good... The Ponte Vedra salad is one of my favorites but today I tried their catfish... Very good catfish and the collard greens were so good. Did you know that you could buy their fresh baked loaves of bread to go? A lot of people don't know that. Anyway you won't be disappointed they have the best breakfast as well!!! read more

This place is the best! I can't wait to get back there. Staff is amazing, very welcoming and friendly. The food is amazing. The best corned beef and hash that I have ever had in my lifetime...so good that I purchased 3 side orders to bring home and freeze for another time. The brisket sandwich was great too! Fair prices, and large portions...almost to much! A must try if you are in the area! I wish they did dinner as well however, it is a breakfast and lunch place. read more

Went here for breakfast with my husband and we aren't the kind of people to complain, but we just had the worst food ever. We both ordered the skillets and V8 juice. Our food came out fast which should've been our 1st clue. The potatoes were sliced into planks similar to how you would cut for scalloped potatoes. They were cold and raw. The toast was cold. Our server was very nice and the V8 was the best part of the meal. For 30.00, lesson learned. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

I was looking forward to trying this place and man was I so highly disappointed. We came for breakfast I ordered scrambled eggs sugar cured ham and normally I would like home fries or hash browns BUT this place only offers "skillet potatoes" which had tons of onions so I had to order French fries instead. The eggs ugh don't get me started and the ham was sliced sandwich meat piled up on my plate. Oh and not to mention ONLY one type of toast WHITE but it's homemade lmao!!! The servers are not very experienced and they def need to put on some longer shorts. It's a restaurant not a bar. The shorts were up her behind !! Never will I go back read more

We were travelling through the area yesterday and we stopped in for breakfast. While the service was fast and friendly, the food just ok. The issue was when we sent to pay and we were told they only accept CASH as payment and that there was an ATM in the gift shop, that we saw this was not posted anywhere in the restaraunt. After getting cash and paying the bill ,I was given my change in $2dollar bills. All I can say is heads up if you are not aware of this places business model. read more

Stopped here for Breakfast and enjoyed really good food. It was delicious. Service was awesome! And the hot sauce was tasty!

I highly recommend the Florida Cracker restaurant in Homosassa Florida. Their food is the best and great quality but what really complimented my experience there was the service and wait staff. My servers Madison and Shealy were the absolute best!!! Very professional and courteous. You must visit there for yourself. You will not be disappointed. read more

been here numerous times before, breakfast always good, had a brunch with my wife, my shrimp basket was missing a shrimp ( 8 vs 7 ) would have asked for a tail count but it wasn't that good so i didn't want the other one. my wife's omlette was good so decided to go on. Madison the server seemed distracted and was not attentive, cost her and the crew $15.00, as i am a 40% tipper, went across the street to the MBar and can't say enough about the staff over there, OUTSTANDING !!! 5 STARS. so we ended the day on a positive note and will return as we are locals and try to keep it in house. read more

We heard so much about this place on radio we had to check it out. Arrived early on Sunday and was seated right away. Staff was very attentive and service was superb. We love this place. The food is terrific with big portions. You can eat a big lunch or a great breakfast. Chicken and waffles are the best anywhere. The only drawback is the wait for a seat is sometimes long, especially on weekends. It's also very noisy, but the food is wonderful. read more

We went a few weeks after they opened... Really good food and service... So we mentioned that to friends, and we all returned for breakfast with all of us leaving less than excited.! I ordered the roll that was so good the first time... HARD AS A ROCK.. Nothing was really good!! But I never am one to not know everyone has a bad day, so we tried lunch a month or so later with maybe a two star outing. But today we returned with visiting friends as our last outing before they left. What a total disappointment and mistake it was. Coffee and waitress were super... But from there it was all downhill. I ordered roll and Soft Bacon.. friends ordered full breakfast. Her scrambled eggs were like rubber... She ate one bite and left the rest. My Bacon came just Short of Burnt.. . Sent it back, only to have her bring it back, with statement, that's what they had "Cooked at this Time!"... It was brittle and just crumbled at the touch... ! So to make the best of our last meeting... I just stopped trying to get decent food.. But then they turned on the music... I like all kinds of music... But the speaker was right over our heads... And it was super loud... We could not hear each other across the table.. asked it be turned down... Which was still so loud we could not talk... So we just said enough is enough... We left far sooner than we thought.... ! We have been there 4 times with 1 good outcome and 3 failures... So I have to go with 1 Star as wait staff has always been TOP SHELF... read more

This is my favorite breakfast joint in the area. The vibe is definitely indicative of the name. Service is always great. Good coffee. Small menu with everything you would want/need. Fresh baked breads and biscuits are excellent. My only critique is that they ought to put better jellies. I'm on my way to breakfast now! read more

Stumbled upon this hidden gem last Sunday while exploring Homossasa Florida. We found it quite noisy, but we were seated towards a back corner. The service is stellar as not only was our server attentive, but every other server checked on us periodically. I noted how happy and friendly they all were. First thing that caught our eye was a homemade cinnamon roll. We ordered one and it came piping hot. It was not a yeast roll, but rather one made like a Bisquick coffee cake. It was quite tasty and we could not finish it all. My husband ordered the platter with eggs, biscuit and gravy on top of perfectly cooked fresh home fries. It was delish! It was afternoon so I opted for the Cracker House salad, which was actually somewhere between a chef and a Cobb. There was so much food I could not eat it all, especially after indulging in the cinnamon roll! Overall a keeper and looking forward to our next visit! read more

Ate outside at covered picnic table, enjoying gorgeous views of water and resort area. Very charming, authentic Florida. Our omelets were over the top delicious! And huge. Yummy biscuits, crispy bacon and unexpectedly great Bloody Mary! Our service was impeccable. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend! The adjoining shop also has a local flair and carries a nice variety of products from their own hot sauces and mixes to higher end brands like Yeti. Worth the drive!! read more

food was not that great. My pancake was burnt and tasted like it was cooked with the peppers and onions from the home fries... my husbands sausage and biscuit was cold. while the waitress was good and warmed things up . My breakfast companions were not to thrilled with theirs either... Also... Bring cash as they do not accept Debit or Credit cards. I wanted to try this place as the one in Brooksville always has a long line... big disappointment read more
