Recently, they opened up a Wholesale Carpet & Tile wing to their store front for all those "DIYs" and commercial contractors in the StL Metroeast. Choosing a home with the original wood floors was a must-have for us. When we moved into our 1895…read moreTower Grove East home a couple years ago, it had exactly what we were looking for--beautiful heart pine floors throughout--but they were in rough shape. They showed years of deferred maintenance, damage from the previous owners' pets, and a few footprints from their DIY refinishing job-gone-wrong. After speaking with a few companies, we were skeptical of whether we'd be able to bring these old floors back to life. When we met Jim at Abeln Floor Systems, we instantly saw that he was passionate about restoration. His expertise is unparalleled and we knew he was the right person for this job. Jim also had an inventory that would help us repair a few tricky areas that required special attention and odd-sized boards. We kicked off the job by doing a walkthrough with both Jim and his crew member Kenny. This ensured we had a shared expectation of outcomes and gave us all the opportunity to flag any areas of concern before the work started. Throughout the process, both Jim and Kenny were incredibly transparent and proactive with their communications; we received a daily check in call to share updates, ask questions, and confirm we were satisfied with the work so far. I couldn't imagine a better outcome and my biggest regret is that we didn't do this project sooner. I mean, look at the pictures!! The floors are immaculate and have made such a significant impact in restoring this home's character. Jim and Kenny were both amazing to work with and I'm so thankful that we were able to do this project with them. If you are looking for high-quality outcomes and a trustworthy crew, look no further. This is the best team you could hire in greater St. Louis.

We have wood floors throughout, except for for whatever reason two of the bedrooms they put this carpet into the middle... Which, of course when we moved in one of our dogs promptly decided to use as a bathroom whenever she wanted. The carpet didn't look great, didn't smell great, collects dust all that bad stuff. Plus, it just didn't match the rest of the house. Jim was able to come in here and start on Tuesday and by Saturday the floors were ready and we could move the furniture back in. The finished product looks amazing and they were just a really good group of people to work with. If you're going to have somebody in your home for a few days in a row it definitely helps to have friendly and trustworthy people. I would highly recommend him to anybody.

I have an old house with crazy floors! Mark came over and walked me through ways I could help fix the floors so we could install an economical floor that will handle the expected foot traffic. I had quiet a few questions about some of the suggested ways to fix my problems and Marc didnt make me feel dumb for thinking I could do it a wrong way, he didnt pressure me into doing an expensive remodel... no he simply pointed out a few options, with each pro and con, and let me make the decision. In the end, some of the mountains we faced turned out to just be mole hills and I couldn't be happier with the experience I've received! Even Barb showing us around the warehouse... same experience as Mark and the installers (father and son duo - how cool is that!), not pushing, supportive and understanding of the overall picture! There were three days where we waited for him all day only to find out that he wasn't coming at all. A four-day job ended up taking seven days. This was a huge lack of respect for me and my time. As a Consumer that loves to support local and/or small businesses I wish I had patronized a Big Box Store for this small project and accepted a quote that would have been twice as much, but at least I would have been able to open and close the Front door and have closet doors that were actually able to open and close after the flooring job was complete!! They do not agree that after a flooring job has been complete that a customer should Assume that their doors, including the FRONT door will open and close! This is one of those situations where one person (let's call him Terry) knows that his employee (Humm let's call him Jeff) did not write a Bid correctly and then outsourced the Labor to a company that is not equipped to do the job!! Don't let the "SALE" price persuade you because they do not include or expect for a job to be complete. Terry actually said "well it doesn't say the doors will open" WTF!
