This flooring company was referred by our insurance provider. At the time, there were no clear red flags. However, the workmanship provided was substandard and required a full replacement at our expense. The project, which should have been simple, was delayed by over a year due to poor execution and lack of accountability. The wood was not properly acclimated, and the finish type was misrepresented. These decisions compromised the integrity of the flooring. Throughout the process, Ron Oliver and Ilaria Heiderich presented limited options, delayed progress, and stalled efforts to correct the issues. Their handling of the project created avoidable delays and complications. Just awful people and worse experience It's almost impossible to believe any of the positive review for these folks. After all the delays and headaches, we finally brought in a third-party inspector (not contracted to FA) and our insurance provider found the company liable for the absolutely awful quality of work. Avoid this company at all costs, highly do not recommend this company and advise others to proceed with caution. If you make one right decision today, choose a difference provider. read more

My insurance company, Farmers, recommended using Flooring America. Very nice people but when your floors look worse than they used nice doesn't get you very far. Vlad the "expert" that comes out is not very friendly nor pleasant. Shares different information than the Iliara or Ron shared with us previously. There were lots of miscommunication between us and the office. Nobody had told me that they were only going to cover the 2nd floor when all the quotes and payments from insurance were from the 2nd and 3rd floor. There were no new quotes or even communication that the 3rd floor wasn't going to be done. The work that was done was sloppy. There were remnants of finish on my wood stairs, that were not refinished or even covered during this process. Finish that was caked over (see pictures) and bubbles in the finish. The refrigerator was put back on the floors before it was done curing. The refrigerator was essentially glued to our floors by the wheels. They ended up sending us new wheels for the fridge but it required help from my claim adjuster from Farmers. The never really fixed the caking by fridge from the result of putting it back when the finish wasn't cured. Aside from the miscommunication, the Bona Traffic water based finish did not do well with my oak wood floors. We do not wear any shoes inside and you can see every scratch. The finish does not protect your floors at all and there is no warranty to his because it's claimed that there is no "workmanship related issues". I asked Ron before my floors were done that if Bona traffic water based finish was just as good as the "smelly Swedish finish" that is very scratch/dent resistant. I was promised that this water based finish is just as good if not better since it doesn't have as many chemicals and I don't need to leave my house for as many days or remove my plants. Like I have mentioned to my insurance company and Flooring America, I wish I NEVER would have redone my floors with Flooring America - Seattle. My floors did look a lot better before my floors were refinish and they had been lived on for 3 years already. I only refinished them due to a small dent due to the water damage but I'll take a small dent over severly scratched floors any day. I have been trying to resolve this with Flooring America Seattle and Farmers for over a year now. Needless to see I will no longer be insured by Farmers and I would never let Flooring America Seattle touch my floors again. I never signed the completion of satisfaction agreement either. None of it mattered. All companies are just out to make money and they don't even care about the quality of the work. read more

Flooring America just installed a new stair runner for us, and did a wonderful job! They have a wide selection in the store, came out to measure promptly, got us a reasonable quote also promptly, and set an install date ASAP once the order was fulfilled (which was also pretty fast all things considered! About 4 weeks). On the day of installation the installer was a bit later than our window, but they called to let us know. Additionally, the runner is PERFECT and exactly what we hoped for. We had a leak in our apartment and needed the flooring replaced. It took a while for them to come do the job. They did it wrong and the floor bubbled. It took 6 months for them to come fix their mistake. It bubbled again and we are now going on a year of them saying they will fix it and never coming. They don't call us, we have to call them. They also said they would have the base boards repainted when they reattached (they never did). Our insurance paid them well and they did a horrible and frankly dishonest job. We have had flooring put in on 4 other occasions and have never encountered a company like this. Even Home Depot will do better for you. Update to comment below: it's true that someone came, but it took months of us calling to have them come. All they did was move a fan under the house. It did not solve the problem. They want all the money up front. Don't do it, because if you have a problem, they have no incentive to make it good. Installers are not their employees. They have no control over them. In store service was great. Installation was sloppy. Installer left glue on new flooring, walls and fixtures. Uneven application. Installer was two hours late and did not call. Very unhappy. I'm still waiting to hear if and when and how Flooring America will remove the glue from the surfaces of the installed Marmoleum, walls and porcelain fixtures. I'm happy that Flooring America "counseled the craftsman," which might help the next customer. I still have glue on floors, walls and fixtures. The owner asked me to wait until my renovation is done after July 10. I will post again and report their follow up. August revisit; service tech removed most of glue residue. Left me with cleaning and adhesive removal product. I still find spots of the adhesive. My impression is that it is very difficult to remove, and they certainly don't want to re-do the job. Uneven applications make for poor seals in perimeter. I will have to caulk, of course, but I did not expect to have to compensate for such poor workmanship. read more

We met with Ilaria at Flooring America and she walked us through the entire process and helped us work out the materials that would best meet our needs. She helped us find alternatives that were in our price range and never pushed us to look at more expensive materials. The job was scheduled as soon as possible and the installation team was professional, friendly and efficient. When a piece of trim wasn't correctly seated, they sent the installers back until everything was spot on. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!! My insurance company had me to use this company to refinish my floors after a water leak. They pushed me to use the Bona Traffic water based product on my oak floors. DO NOT use this product if you had original "Swedish finish" style flooring. My floors are 30 years old and showed practically no wear in any of the main traffic areas with exception to the small section that got water damaged. With the Bona Traffic product on the floors, ALL OF THE FLOORS SHOW WEAR AND SCRATCHES. This product is merely a STAIN, it does not protect the wearing of your floors. Our neighbors told us NOT to use the water based finish as they and their friends had seen the results. We requested MULTIPLE TIMES to have the original finish applied (a polyurethane product) and were steered away from it every time by Ron Oliver of Flooring America. He assured us it would be better than the original floor. This is NOT TRUE. I had requested to another employee at Flooring America who was doing the main scheduling and communication with me that we would only use the Bona product if it was assured to us that it would be the same as our original floor. We were still pushed into using the Bona product. There is much to this story starting 2 weeks after the floors were refinished. We have complained to our insurance company (who is still trying to help), Flooring America (WORTHLESS CUSTOMER SERVICE), a Bona representative, and engineers. WE ARE NOT HAPPY. Flooring America WILL NOT HELP US. We paid them and they are telling us we should be satisfied. WE ARE NOT and will TELL EVERYONE WE KNOW NOT TO USE FLOORING AMERICA OR THE BONA PRODUCT. It is an unreal lack of customer service, of doing the right thing of making it right to the customer. Mind you, the total job was only about $7000. For what we've been through you would think it was $70,000!! BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT USE FLOORING AMERICA OR BONA PRODUCT. read more

My wife and I have been working on our home remodel for several years. As it turns out, remodeling ones home over a period of 4-5 years is a long slog filled with great and ambitious ideas; large contractor bids and quotes; dust dirt, and persistent uncomfort; and relatively frequent disapointment by contractors. Periodically though, there is a shining beacon of hope that cuts through the ambient dust and breathes new life into our will to see this remodel through. Working with Flooring America has certainly been one of those 'highlight moments' during this remodel. We're naturally indesisive people, my wife and I. When we first went into Flooring America, we didn't realize how many different types, colors, weaves, coatings, and options are involved in picking carpet. Thankfully, the staff at their showroom were phenomenal and extremely patient with our waffling. Their expertise helped us narrow down those carpet types and pads best for people, like us, who don't have the best behaved pets at times. They worked with us to better understand our budget and pointed out carpets in our price range. Having helped us narrow the vast array of choices to a relatively few, they then ordered complimentary samples of those carpets we were interested in to take home. Once we had selected our carpet, they ordered the carpet and worked with our schedule to find a time that best worked for us for the install. Not only were they super helpful at picking out carpet, but they helped us understand the differences in other flooring types that we were considering throughout the house, like cork, marmoleou, lvt, tile, and hardwood. Again, with so many choices available for flooring, the staff at their showroom were fantastic. When it came time for the carpet install, their craftsmen were ontime. As it turns out, this seems to be a rare feat for many contractors, but not Floording America. They say they will be there around 8:30AM and they showed up at 8:29AM. They were careful, courteous, efficient, and clean while at the house. They had about 1,000 SF of new pad and carpet installed by 4PM. This is the first time I've left a Yelp reivew. It was going to take something seriously impressive or frustrating to solicit a review from me. My experience with Flooring America appears to be exactly like Dave H and Nate C.
