We only stayed for one night but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check-in instructions were sent via email and there's a code to unlock the room. The grounds are very pretty, perfect for a desert wedding or party. There are great views all around and there aren't any neighbors nearby. It looks like they own a lot of acreage nearby. The room we stayed in was the Onyx room. It was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. There are lots of nice additions in the room to ensure you enjoy staying in from wine glasses, a wine fridge, record player with a record collection, bath salts, star gazing area outside with a mattress, and comfy robes and slippers to use during your stay. If it were warmer, I definitely would've tried out the outdoor tub and shower but it was too cold at night to even think about it. There's also a large community pool in the works. As mentioned earlier, this hotel is about a mile from the NP so it's an excellent choice for anyone going there. It's also not too far from town so you're not too far from stores and cafes. I am definitely planning on staying here again!

Here's why I can only give it one star: Stale, musty room: On arrival the air felt heavy and the dishes were still dirty--guests are expected to wash, dry and put away every pot and plate before checking out. There's no housekeeping, no daily room service--this operates more like an Airbnb than a hotel. Worn furnishings: Several pieces showed visible wear, and the reading lamp above our bed hung loosely from its cord. Unwelcoming plunge pool: There are no chairs or loungers, it isn't heated, and with 45 mph winds whisking through the courtyard, our so-called "pool time" lasted about five minutes. Remote location: A 25-minute drive to downtown Palm Springs, surrounded by modest residential streets and few shops or restaurants. The only local gem--Cabot's Pueblo Museum--is worth the trip out, but don't expect dining or nightlife within walking distance. Constant high winds: We couldn't use the patio or outdoor seating at all. Everywhere else in the valley was calm, so it wasn't just seasonal. We would have happily taken a refund and rebooked closer to town--there are so many charming alternatives (Trixie Motel, Korakia, Tommy Bahama's Mira Monte). Unless you're on a Mid-Century Modern tour that includes Lautner's work, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. I was also very disappointed that we were expected to do dishes, take out trash, etc. This was not presented as an Airbnb style accomodation. Why are we paying a cleaning fee if all they are doing is swapping linens? We were super excited but very disappointed.

I happen to notice it on my credit card and texted her on 5/3. She was sneaky and sleazy about it, which I believe is because she has done this before and most people don't notice. It is fraudulent. When we texted her to find out why, she went on a rant about how lucky we are to have stayed there and said the kitchen floor was messy, the furniture had been moved and vase was on the floor. None of which are reason to charge a damage fee. When I sent videos of the AC leaking and told her and we had cleaned it up so the vase had to be moved to dry the furniture, and the kitchen floor was normal cleaning, she went ballistic trying to bully us into accepting the charges as "extra cleaning fees" and wrote literally, "I expect the unit returned exactly as it was found at the time of check in". I am not easily bullied and as a landlord myself and a person with an excellent rating on AirBnB, I know manipulation and scamming when I see it. They require the guests to wash the dishes by hand and put them back (so beware if you stay, because those dishes are not sanitary!) so we washed/dried every dish by hand and put it away. She said the towels were dirty, we never used the towels! She said the furniture was moved, we turned 2 chairs to face the couch so we could play cards! She has been nothing less than hostile and attacking when I attempted to reason with her about the charges. I filed a report with Better Business Bureau (see ID#:23291502) because I'm sure she has done this before and I'm not sure what recourse a person has against this kind of fraud. By her own description it was for cleaning towels, moping the floor and wiping down the couch, no damage was done that would warrant a Damage Deposit fee. She admitted it was an "extra cleaning fee". The first picture below is is the leaking AC unit I sent her telling her why the vase was moved. The rest are from the video she sent to me as her justification for keeping $100 of our damage deposit for the "moved furniture" (she is talking about is the chairs are turned towards the coffee table). The couch was a used old soft leather couch and had many natural scuffs when we got there, we did nothing to it. Take a look her video of the kitchen and tell me if you think we left it a mess? Seriously, BEWARE, she is stealing from guests because most won't go to the effort I have to try to prevent it. If you see this and she has done it to you please contact me.

From our first meeting, Gwen made sure we were taken care of -- from a detailed list of recommended vendors (all of whom were amazing), so check-ins as we got closer to our date, being available as my stress started to spike, her rockstar team who welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed -- and most of all, the most magical backdrop for our special day. Rimrock was perfect. We had about 120 guests, which felt like the perfect size for us. There was enough parking for all (we did encourage carpooling and pre-booking taxis just to be sure). We had several of our friends stay on the ranch with us, which made the weekend even more special. We held a welcome dinner Friday night, with about 40-50 people -- Ranch staff made sure we had plenty of adult beverages while we enjoyed everyone's company. The Hatch House was lovely, and the perfect spot for me and my ladies to get our hair and makeup done before the ceremony. And the ceremony location -- pure magic. The venue naturally created so many beautiful photo opportunities for our guests, with that gorgeous sunset leaving everyone in awe. Gwen even offered to let us take some wedding photos with one of her horses! Not too hot or cold, but they had plenty of blankets for anyone who needed one. By the time it was over, my gratitude was endless -- Gwen, Eric and their team took such good care of us, and I felt so happy with every single moment. Five stars, highly recommend!!! This is not your typical boring house on a cul-de-sac. We felt like we were in our own little boulder world. The location of the ranch is perfect. There are stores down the street and the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is about 10 minutes away. Kiyomi is an awesome and friendly host! All while planning her own wedding, which was just two weeks before ours. Kiyomi was always quick to respond to our questions, incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful, and helped coordinate vendors and guests during our wedding weekend. As an added bonus, she and her husband Shane are amazing and fascinating people, and were a delightful addition to our wedding guest list. My friends and family enjoyed sitting around and swapping stories with them into the night just like they were old family friends. Furthermore, when it came time to check out, my new husband and I had less hands on deck than we anticipated, and were scrambling to clean but ended up checking out an hour late. The whole family was incredibly gracious and jumped in to help us pack and clean up. You can see for yourselves in the photos how expansive, intricate, and unique the venue is - you could walk the property 100 times and still notice new details you hadn't seen before. If you have the chance to visit or book as a venue you definitely should!
