I would have never guessed that looking [desperately] for a backsplash would have led me to write this review for Floor & Decor, but, wow, what an amazing experience I had. I was treated like a friend and like I really mattered by every employee in the store. I had been searching for months for the perfect backsplash tile having sifted through online layouts and other big box stores merchandise. When I came across F&D's website, I ordered samples of a few options. The samples I had mail-ordered were just not right for my needs. So I returned my samples to Elizabeth's store. I was very impressed and immediately relieved(!) when I saw the amount of stock they had to consider. I was extremely grateful when I found the "clearance" section as well, realizing I could get a high quality tile for the price I could afford! After my first trip to the store, I narrowed down the two tiles I would consider: a marble tile and a porcelain tile. I first sat down in front of the clearance marble tile (for 2 hours, haha!) making sure I chose two hundred of the proper toned tiles that would be right for my kitchen. I had three employees stop by and ask to assist me and they were all very kind. Jean gave me an even better price on the clearance tiles which meant the world to me. Another employee, a woman, gave me great advice on featuring my kitchen counter which helped me pick my favorite of the two tiles (thank you!). She also gave me wonderful advice on sealing my tiles. Once I finished choosing my tiles, I checked out the grout paper samples in the design section. There was a lovely woman (Brazilian woman) who was very kind the first day I was at the store. She took the time to hand me a grout sample mechanism which helped me envision grout colors next to my tile and that was while she was multi-tasking and assisting another customer! I then pushed my cart over to the grout section where I milled about confused for maybe 30 seconds when Elmer swept in and saved me. Elmer was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, efficient and a real gem of a person. He guided me towards the grout I needed. He even took the time to look at my tile and my countertop in a photo. He weighed in on the color of grout. He then guided me towards spacers. He showed me what size options were available and helped me choose what was best for me. He then showed me what kind of tool I needed and immediately took me to the mortar. He helped me choose what was cost-effective and efficient for my needs. He helped me push my cart to the checkout, waited with me while purchasing everything and pushed my heavy cart out to my car. He helped me load my car and I was incredibly grateful for the extraordinarily compassionate customer service received. I had to write this review because I felt taken care of when I otherwise would have been LOST and assisted in ways I could have never imagined. I left the store not only excited for my new backsplash which has taken me months to choose, but also high on humanity, an exceedingly rare event when you live in the greater New York City/New Jersey area. The staff in this store are exceptional humans, lovely to the core and the 90s throwback music played was a trip and made sitting with those tiles far more fun! Thank you!!!!! This review is for the company. I'm honestly so disappointed as a customer. We needed more flooring to finish a project, which was discontinued and only 2 locations had them. My project is in SI NY; only the Florida and North Carolina stores had the discontinued floor. I received different answers between the 3 locations. Ultimately, I HAD to purchase in order to finish my project although what 2 reps from 2 different locations told me. I had to pay over $300 for shipping!!!!! If these items are discontinued, why aren't they on sale? Why isn't shipping cheaper? Why can't I do a store to store transfer? Why isn't the information the same across the stores? I loved this place. Although they didnt have the product at this location, they did at their brooklyn location. So i went straight from Elizabeth NJ to Brooklyn. Recently I bought wood looking tile for a small room costing over $1,000. In the picture it looked beautiful. The boxes were dusty so I didn't think much. Once the floor was put down and washed it numerous times it still looks dusty. So I called the brooklyn location where I got it and spoke with a woman there to see why the tile always looks dusty (I mean immediately after it dries) she said she would call me back in 5 minutes. That was months ago!! Never heard back from her. It doesnt matter which location because this is a reflection on the company as a whole. Floor looks beautiful when its wet. Once it dried it looks old and dirty/dusty. Do not buy this product. I will say on a positive note, that when your purchasing you do get top notch service. Floor & Decor is an excellent option when shopping for Flooring, Tile, countertops and supplies. The selection is second to none and the pricing is more than fair. The store has many displays to give customers ideas on layout and design. The one weak point appears to be the availability of team members to help and cashiers to check out customers who need to pay for merchandise. I have several projects in the pipeline for my homes and I will not hesitate to shop there. read more

I went back to Floor & Decor about three weeks ago to purchase additional tile. There were several employees that were standing around without any direction. I requested help and the store worker did not want to move tile to our preference. In addition to that it took way too long to complete the purchase because the employees were too busy texting. No one offered to help bring the tile to our vehicle. I would fire almost every single person, replace them with an individual check out and armed security to bring down the price. I did not feel this way during my first visit. The store has a good variety and decent prices. read more

If I could give no stars for service, I would. We entered Floor & Decor and saw many employees, but not one asked us if we needed help. Then, when we did track down somebody we were told by the employee that they were leaving in ten minutes. Ok, then we found another employee who was absolutely not thrilled to help us. All the things you are told never to do in retail. This was the example of what not to do. I worked in retail for 10 years for a major chain and this was shameful behavior. We had to find matching molding ourselves and they didn't match, they were "close." Selection was good, but the aisles kept getting closed off by machinery and we had to wait until they were done to look at what we wanted. Value seemed good. The employees at this location are very good. Very helpful. Prices are good too. But, God forbid if you rub out of the tiles & you need a few extra ones. In my case, I needed 200 sq ft. It will cost you a lot. I paid nearly $700 for delivery for that many tiles. Also, they are very slow in delivering the stuff. If the tiles break during delivery, they give you a hard time to give you credit. read more

In person, Floor and Decor is great, but we had a terrible experience online. We went recently to view and pick tile for a bathroom renovation at the Elizabeth store and found a tile we loved but was partially in-stock in the store. We decided to order online a few days later, opting to have the tile shipped to our home plus two other tiles to complete the bathroom. The site had an estimated 7-14 day delivery window. Two weeks later, we had received no update or order status communication so we called them. They were waiting on the tile we loved and it was going to be another two weeks before they had enough in stock. No communication about the delay - we had to reach out - and they held the tile they did have in stock rather than ship it when it was ready. We had to cancel our order and have chosen to find tile elsewhere, but the delay has really screwed up our reno timeline. Needless to say we were very disappointed in the ordering process and poor communication and likely will not use Floor & Decor in the future except for inspiration to take elsewhere. read more

He was very knowledgeable and patient. He asked questions about the renovation, which he used to make some suggestions. They answered the phone immediately and went out of their way to confirm they had the tile I needed and set it aside for me. This location is severely understaffed and truly a joke. Literally called 5 days in a row and let the phone ring for 15 min. It's not that complicated to set up a voice mailbox so you can return a customers phone call. Finally went to pick up my order. They checked me in and told me it would be 45 min. 45 min later they said they were ready and I could back in to pick up. Only a 3rd of my order was ready with no one in sight. And the paper they left clearly shows they only fulfilled one of my items. Had to ask 3 people to help get the rest of my order. Finally someone came and told me they couldn't find the other parts of my order. Not sure why someone couldn't tell me that instead of me having to hunt down an employee. 5 stars to Sylvia S for her time consulting us on our master bathroom project. So a GREAT shoutout to Sylvia S. This was our 2nd time visiting F&D we were so glad that we signed up for consultation. The 1st time we were there, the store was overwhelming with tiles and decor items. We felt lost and spent 4 hours just to walk away with a portion of tiles for our master bath project. It was rush hour during the time we visited and help was hard to come by. A store consultation expert suggested we schedule a time to meet with a consultant. So we did. When we arrived the following wkd, we met Sylvie. We showed her our inspirational pictures, where we were at with the project and a shopping list prepared for us by our contractor. Right away Sylvie made recommendations and gave us options that worked the best for what we wanted to do. Not only did she provided expert advice, she went out of her way to grab and gather up items that we need and loaded it into carts for us to check out. Then requested a loader attendant to help us load everything into my truck. My wife and I were overwhelmed by the task of selecting the right tiles for our bathroom renovation, they had so many styles and colors that we didn't know where to start. Luckily, they offer design services but you have to make an appointment. Our designer, Maxine, was able to guide us through the process and we left the store very happy with the selections we made. This has been our go to for tile for our renovation. Each time we are pleasantly greeted, helped appropriately and leave satisfied. This last time, we were assisted by Emily. I was indecisive and had more options on my hands than I had bathrooms to renovate. Emily took the time to walk up and down the aisles with me. The refund process at Floor & Decor is very biased and is inconsistent from store to store, person to person. I can't hate but to think that the denial to offer a store credit at the other stores was based on something other than the ambiguous return policy. I explained the situation to manager Tyrone at store 182 and he helped us without any hesitation. Thank you store 182 for training your managers properly and assisting a long time customer. You have a customer for life!!! To the store in Elizabeth, NJ and Wayne, NJ and The Retail Equation- you should be closed for a training refresher on how to deal with customers! I wish I can give a negative one star. Ive been to this store twice and each time no one asks if you need help. We asked for help and a worker told us he was going on a break in ten minutes and could not help us and didn't bother to find someone who can. When I finally found someone to help I had to go match a stair nose to the floor I selected myself. I'm sorry, are all the workers standing around not qualified to help with this?? why is this my job?? If your workers have time to sit around and chat, maybe you should put them to work and have them match the stair noses to the appropriate floors so your customers don't have to. We were planning to renovate our bathroom and kitchen, and thought to talk with designers to pick out the tiles, floors and vanity tops. It's very hard to book the appointment through the floor and Dec 's website. I have called store and was told they couldn't make appointment for me , only online or come in person to make appointment. Finally my husband was able to make an appointment for Friday December 15 at 1-2 pm . He got call Thursday while he was in meeting and whoever was calling didn't leave him a voicemail. He also got email stating he missed Friday 2pm appointment. He thought it was weird because it was still Thursday, and how come he missed next day 's appointment!!! He took a day off for this appointment and we drove 40 minutes to the store . When we got to the store , we were told the designer Maxine called us yesterday she was not in today ! I order metal trim online and supervisor they said cant accept my online return since they don't carry at the store. If I know is no refund policy I would never order them. The supervisor told me why don't I return at a mom n pop shop since is a popular brand "lying n returning at random store is illegal" I try returning mosaic tiles and it was defective since I purchase 6 boxes and never check inside and some was missing stone and they won't accept it. This 5 star review is solely dedicated to Sylvie at the design center. She is beyond helpful and personable. We came in not having a clue of what to do, and she was so patient and helped us figure out how each bathroom will be. Her job was not easy since my husband and I are so difficult as well as having to help us with 4 out of 6 of our bathrooms and wood flooring throughout most of the house. She kept us updated on all shipments, and changed anything I asked her to do. The cherry on top, she kept saying all that matters is that we're taken care of. And she really meant that. Regretting that i ever walked into that store and deal with that company in general. THEY HAVE HUGE DELIVERY PROBLEM, using third party delivery that looks like cant do their job to. Sales person BS to me that my laminate will arrive to the store in 2 weeks, and again BS , came one month after And no one gave a dam to schedule my delivery, had to be on top of this myself. Now about delivering my tiles! They finally delivered one 2 months after, but to the wrong address in PA , and then no one in the store can figure out where the tiles are! 0 Stars. I'm writing this from a seat I had to take within the store, as to not pass out from the anxiety and stress this store has provoked me. Where do I begin?? For starters, this is the 3rd time I've had to come to multiple Floor and Decor (Wayne and now Elizabeth) only to have to leave empty handed and frustrated. Their system is atrocious. You can't go by the quantities stated on their website. For example, online it stated there were 45 boxes of one of the items I was looking for in Wayne, there were only 2. I then come to Elizabeth, which online states they have 59 boxes, and it turns out they don't even have one! That's just their first problem. Second, their associates aren't helpful. Granted, they're very understaffed, but then why have such a huge store only to have it serviced by a handful of people. I can't blame them for being upset and annoyed, but I can blame the store. Lastly, their organization leaves a lot to be desired. There is no way for you to find the specific piece you looked for online because there are no aisle numbers or section numbers. So basically you have to wander the store to try and find the item you're looking for every time, and then you have to make sure they actually do have it in stock. I have never felt as helpless and disillusioned with a store as I am now with this whole chain. If you're looking to waste time, be treated dismissively, and leave frustrated then this is your store. This store is a joke! While the tv ads lure you in, be prepared for a store that appears unmanaged and poorly staffed with a lot on display but not much available. We drove an hour for basic subway tiles (which the website said we're in stock) only to find the opposite - the only sales clerk on the floor said that they had "negative stock on those tiles for months" and pointed to alternatives which were really poor quality. Terrible. I booked an appointment with design consultant Grace for 11:30 on the 28th. Grace called me the day before to confirm - I also received a text message confirming the appointment. I showed up for the appointment and Grace said I was not on the schedule. I showed her the text message she just shrugged her shoulders and said she couldn't help because it was time for her lunch. I didn't argue much - since she forgot she called me the day before I wasn't optimistic that she would be able to handle a large order. It sucked. Won't be going back.
