We arrived after having had dinner and despite it being busy (it was a Friday night), we were seated quickly. Its got an old-timey vibe which is enhanced by the decor they use and the fact they were playing a black and white film on the projector. The bar area itself is gorgeous and displays what looks like hundreds of bottles of whiskey. We tried their sazarac and the Anastasia Grey. While I love anything earl grey, I wasnt the biggest fan of the charcoal element but thats a personal preference. It was rather busy so it took some time to get a hold of our server but understandable considering he also had other tables to focus on!

My family of 9 decided to give this place a try. We called around 7:00 PM to check the line, and…read morethey told us the wait would be about 30 minutes, which we were totally fine with. We arrived just nine minutes later at 7:09 PM, but the host was missing from the stand for a solid 10 minutes. When she finally showed up, she told us the wait would actually be an hour and a half. We weren't seated until around 8:25 PM, and after ordering, we waited another 15 minutes for our food. Because the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM, we were literally the last people there. However, the front-of-house chaos was completely salvaged by the rest of the experience. Our server, Danielle, was amazingly kind, sweet, and incredibly awesome! On top of that, the food was absolutely amazing, tasty, and served piping hot, with 1 of the hurricane combo being really cold. My brother couldn't finish it. And the steak was dry, and needed more flavor. I will say the chicken tenders were ginormous and very juicy. The atmosphere was also great very comforting with nice, beachy vibes. The Verdict: A incredibly frustrating wait and a rough start with the host, but Danielle's stellar service and the fantastic food made the night worth it.

The Gold Fish is a shining example of Corpus having and maintaining nice things…read more There is a common misconception that this city cannot have nice things, and that if we do get them, they do not last very long. The Gold Fish has proven this long-held collective pessimism wrong. Originally a cocktail bar only, it has now expanded into a cocktail, beer and wine outdoor/indoor bar, which makes complete sense given the city's demographic demands. It was actually one of the first businesses I was most concerned with us losing permanently during the pandemic. And I am so glad they have stuck around! It is a modern cocktail bar at its core, which makes it very unique to this city. This is an obvious adoption of cocktail bar trends from other larger cities in Texas. It is very nice, with a wide array of adult beverage options for discriminating consumers to chose from. The atmosphere is perfect, and the bartenders and staff are top-notch and super nice (the attitude is refreshing compared to what one may be used to recieving from such establishments in larger cities). I usually only come here when I have company from out-of-town, as I do not go out for drinks very often. At my most recent visit, I had just experienced a personal tragedy that I only briefly alluded to our bartender when she asked how our day was going. The amount of sincere compassion we received was not expected at all. My only regret is that I did not get her name, or else I would have gladly included it in this review.
