My fiance and I got treatments here together and it's a really lovely place. My facial was one of the best I've ever gotten and I've been to Bliss at the W, PSYC at The Parker in Palm Springs and many more. Emily was my esthetician and she was SOOO good. She truly cared about what she was doing and she was so gentle and soothing with her application of the creams and cleansers. I will definitely be going to see her again! He got a massage and said it wasn't out of this world, just OK but he really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's quiet and quaint yet super close to all the shops on State street. After reading decent reviews, I decided to try this Spa for their massage services. I would say that Float Spa is not a "luxury" spa. It is just OK. The location, interior, and massage itself was OK but not great. The decor is nice and it is somewhat clean (pillows, massage table blankets, and some of the furniture are dingy and soiled). Half of the furniture is spotless, while the other half is dirty. I do admire that they have made an excellent use of the small space. Do not expect a large lounge area. The locker room is clean but very small (only one toilet and one shower). The outdoor area in the backyard looks much bigger and prettier in the pictures- it is small as it can only accommodate 2-4 people. The massage therapist was not as skilled as I would expect for what price they are charging. She was not bad but just OK. If you are truly looking for a "luxury" spa with massage experience go to a resort like The Biltmore or Ojai Valley Inn because you will get more for the same price. read more

The overall experience wasn't much of a hotel spa feel at all. The bathroom lobby was extremely small, I was fighting for my spot to shower after my massage with one shower. service was ok, however the front desk staff never asked how my service was checking upon out. Being that I'm in the customer service industry myself that never flies with me. I get that everyone is entitled to a bad day although I do thinking asking how a service that you pay so much money for is warranted the guest service attendant to ask at least. To say The least I left pondering what I paid $250 for. The massage was decent at best. Massage therapist was good she was knowledgeable but not very intuitive and I left feeling rubbed but not massaged. The whole experience was extremely disappointing being that I was in Santa Barbara celebrating my best friends birthday we thought we were getting 5 star massage experience which this was the complete opposite. I would not recommend this spa to anyone looking for a relaxing high end spa experience. read more

2/10/18. I made a less than 24 hour reservation for the Island hopping treatments which consisted of a body wrap, 80 minute hot stone massage, and a 25 minute facial. I was very happy that they were able to accommodate me at the last minute on my birthday. The spa looks like a quaint boutique style spa. The patio is absolutely beautiful and followed the color scheme of the spa which consists of blues. The waiting area is cozy, it has a fire place, hot tea, water, hibiscus water, trailed mix, and dried fruit to snack on, no alcohol tho I went into a different room for each treatment I had, and each room missed the mark just a little. I think the rooms need different flooring, because the floor reminded me of a dark blue (sticking with their color scheme) industrial carpet. The lighting and music in each room is perfect but each room had a completely blank wall. I think if a relaxing picture was put up it would make a big difference. The person who did my wrap did a good job, but it felt like she ran out of time so I didn't stay wrapped very long. I love hot stone massages and to my surprise the older woman who gave my massage was excellent although I think stones need to be closer to massage table because there were many times when she was just at the stones and I wasn't being massaged nor was there a stone on me. The facialist seemed really knowledgeable although some of the products felt very watery, but in the end my face felt really good and moisturized. This spa does have many items for you to purchase. I would just say they slightly missed the mark. I would give them a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. read more

I visited the spa this week for the first time, as I was in the area on vacation. Made a reservation at Float for an extended deep tissue massage and it was wonderful, done by Rachael. The surroundings were very quiet and peaceful, and very clean and well kept. Very organized. They have inside and outside areas for quiet time. The massage room was larger than where I usually go in Orange County. Also met the owner who was lovely and said they had been open 8 years. This place is a GEM. I had my first facial in years with Heidi and she was so comforting and smooth about the whole process. The massages and hand treatment during the facial were a plus. I actually felt like I was floating, haha. I wish I would have gone an hour before my facial just to sit by Their adorable fireplace and sip hot tea. During the facial she let me ask questions and talk as I pleased, and she was very knowledgeable about skin. Not to mention, she had amazing recommendations to improve my skin! I've been going to Heidi for facials, brow waxing and some facial add-ons like the foot scrub and scalp treatment. She is fantastic, very personable, kind and knowledgeable about skincare. She customizes my facial every visit based on what my skin is doing and considering the season and weather/moisture. She really takes the time to get to know your skin and then treat it accordingly and my skin looks great every time. As other reviewers have said, the spa is quite small, it's not like a Bacara or Burke Williams where you'll spend the whole day and soak in a sauna (Although you could do a full or half day of services.) This is more of a local, boutique-style spa, a little more functional, but still quite cozy and welcoming. I recommend Heidi wholeheartedly. read more

If you love being pampered in a tranquil environment this is a spa you need to stop at. Location is set in the heart of Santa Barbara right next to State St. I loved the "country barn decor" feel upon arriving. I came here while celebrating my sisters Bachelorette. One of the girls in our group took the responsibility of planning for the rest of us. With 6 bridesmaids all getting a service of 50 minutes or more we were able to get the brides service for free. Once we arrived we changed into our robes and slippers. The restroom has standard spa supplies. I will say the merchandise they carry is top of the line which is definitely a perk when testers are available everywhere! Once we were all changed we headed to the garden area. It was so relaxing and quaint. We enjoyed our mimosas (mimosas were an additional $45) while relaxing enjoying the Santa Barbara weather. The massage therapists came down and took half of the group first. My therapist was Maria. Maria is very professional and is apt to have a clear understanding of what areas you'd prefer she targets. I chose the Signature Float massage which is full body, light to medium pressure. I also did one of their add ons- foot scrub. I think for the price of the add on I could have skipped it only due to the fact that I could have paid for a pedicure and get pretty much the same thing + more. However, this still didn't change my views on this spa experience. You will also have access to a waiting/ relaxation area during your spa experience. There are couches, chairs, a very cozy rug, and a fireplace to warm yourself next to. I was relaxed all day and slept so well thanks to Float. I hope to be able to return! Went to Float and was very disappointed with the facility and the massage. The upstairs lounge was cramped and hot. The outside lounge was noisy with cars and the pond seemed yucky. I didn't find it relaxing. Roughly half way through the massage, I asked my massage therapist to apply more pressure on my shoulders. She told me that she was unable to do so without charging me additional for a "deep tissue" upgrade. I've had plenty of massages at nice spas throughout southern California, and have never had to ask for someone to apply more pressure... I'm usually asking them to apply less. I have certainly never been solicited for more money during a massage. I declined to pay any more, and I will not be going back. read more

Having recently relocated to Santa Barbara from the east coast I was on the lookout for a good deep tissue massage. I had Float recommended to me so thought I would give it a go. I had left behind an awesome massage therapist who I had for years & was sure her shoes would be hard to fill. Well... I had a wonderful experience & an absolutely awesome deep tissue massage. The staff were all really friendly & attentive but the best thing was the massage - which is what I went there for. I can highly recommend Float for a deep tissue massage! read more

I took a girlfriend here for her Birthday and we both had really good experiences. I got the True Radiance Wrap which was a very relaxing treatment. I enjoyed the lotions they used and the lady that did the treatment was very friendly. My friend got The Works facial and was also really happy with the treatment. As far as overall experience: the place is clean, and while it was really busy when we were there (the waiting room was pretty packed) we still didnt feel rushed or cramped. The massage I got may not have been the best massage that I have ever gotten which is why I am only giving 4/5 stars, but if you go here for more of the spa experience and for body wraps/ facials etc. it is definitely worth it! After our treatments we treated ourselves to a bottle of champagne on the Float Spa back patio ($40 preordered with the staff) so that we could enjoy the feeling of relaxation just a little while longer before heading back into the real world. It was the perfect way to end our treatments and the Float Spa Staff let us sit there as long as we wanted to drink our bubbly. So overall great experience. read more

I had a very mixed experience with Float. The spa is lovely, the receptionist greeted us warmly which was nice. They had a questionaire that you fill out before your services start, this was a great idea. There was a lot of detail about what music you want, whether you want to chat during the massage, any problem areas etc. The downfall in this was that my massage therapist appeared not to have read the form at all which meant that areas I specifically asked not to have massaged were and I got to listen to cheesy new age music instead of what I had requested. If you aren't going to read the forms don't waste our time with filling them out! Also my massage was super rough, it was uncomfortable and instead of relaxing it was painful. The facial was great but it was hard to get over the disappointing massage. At the end (without asking you if you are interested in any product recommendations) there were numerous lotions and potions that the poor receptionist said were recommended by the massage therapist and aesthetician. I appreciate being asked if I want product recommendations but not being pressured to buy product at the end of an already expensive spa afternoon. read more

My hubs got me a gift card for V-Day (I know pretty cliche) but one of my fav things to do is spend a day at a spa...so I signed up for the Hawaiian package which included a 25 min facial, a 60 min body wrap followed by a 80 minute hot stone massage. I was a bit skeptical reading all the negative reviews on here, but my experience was pretty blissful. When I checked in they gave me this super comfy robe and a pair of Haviana flip flops to change into in the locker room, then I proceeded upstairs where there was hot tea and small snacks like trail mix, nuts and raisins. I relaxed by the fireplace and then had my mini facial. I'm not a facial product junkie, nor do I like people touching my face but she used some great products to hydrate my face along with some hot steam. Next I went in for a body wrap. This was pretty awesome. My whole body was brushed down with this extremely coarse brush that took off all the dead skin. It was one of those painful yet feels so good feelings, if you have ever that feeling before. Then my body was coated with oil and lotion and wrapped up like a burrito in mylar which detoxes your body. The lady then poured hot coconut milk oil on my scalp and massaged it into my hair. I think that was my favorite part! After the wrap I had an 80 min hot stone massage where I believe I fell asleep for a while. After all my treatments I literally felt like I was "floating". I wanted to wash off all the oil on my scalp and body, so I took advantage of the awesome shower head that came out like rain in the locker room. They had shampoo, conditioner, body wash and shave gel with razors available. Then on the counter they had mouth wash, hair spray, cotton balls, q tips ect. I would of liked some makeup remover at that point but that was one thing lacking. 3.5 hours later I felt like and new woman and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. My total package came to $350.00 which price is a bit steep but i had a bunch of treatments and was there for and significant amount of time. I wouldn't expect anything cheaper from a swanky Santa Barbara spa ;) read more

My girlfiriend Kim and I go to spas around town fairly often, it's "our thing." Yesterday was our 4th visit to Float. It was absolute heaven. We arrived at 9:45, changed into our robes and sat in front of the fire in the gorgeous lounge under the bubble chandelier and sipped tea. This was followed by an 80 minute sea stone massage, and a 50 minute facial. We arrived back to the lounge where our lunch was waiting for us along with a 1/2 bottle of Veuve Cliquot that I brought along. We spa'd, we dined, we sipped, we were there for hours and loved every minute. The sisters that own it are so acommodating, so pleasant, they have decorated the place beautifully, their therapists are beyond talented (Miklos, Angie, Rosa & Heidi). If you haven't been, give yourself a treat and try Float Luxury Spa, you only live once. read more

I had a wonderful facial in this place, I would highly recommend for this service. Went back several days later and had a massage, from start to finish the woman didn't stop chatting and several times she forgot I told her I had a bad toe, hence the pain every time she went near it. She was so not in the moment at any time during the massage. The room was downstairs with stained carpeting. Yes I could have asked her to stop talking, but that's not in my nature. I also didn't get asked what I would like as a massage lotion. read more

I went into Float last weekend for a facial. I've known about this spa since it opened but it was my first time going there. It was divine! The service was excellent - from the women at the front desk to the person who did my facial. The facial itself was one of the best I've ever had - so totally relaxing and soothing and my skin has looked great all week. I especially love how during the intake process they ask you how much conversation you want (I prefer none) and so she honored this during my service. the boyfriend and i did the couples massage, and it was heavenly. before the message starts, you fill out some basic info. do you have any injuries, what music do you prefer, what scented lotion do you prefer, etc. all of which i greatly appreciated. we got new age-ish music, but requested classical. it was actually very enjoyable regardless. first they rub your back side, then have you flip over to so you're on your back. they then rub your shoulders, head, and chest, but don't worry they don't rub you tatas. to make it more relaxing they put a warmed eye mask on you. when they are done rubbing your feet they put warmed towels on them and give them some more rubbing. i'm dying just thinking about it. underneath you on the bed is a warmer which can be controlled based on the heat you want. it was very relaxing and a pleasant treat on our vacation to santa barbara. read more

Dani is the most wonderful esthetician. I have been going to her for many years for both facilas and waxing and she always does an amazing job. She is so sweet and kind and always explains everything she is doing and the room is so comfortable with soft music playng in the backgound. My skin really looks amazing when she finishes, and before I leave she always explains what products she has used and what I need to do for home care to keep my skin looking great between appointments. I always get a lot of compliments on my skin and I rarely need to wear much makeup. I would highly recommend Dani and Float Spa - Everyone there is so kind and friendly and welcoming. This was my second time here and both appointments were wonderful beginning to end. i think they run their schedule really well in that they dont get a lot of traffic because appointments seemed to be spaced out really well. for example, both times ive been there, it has been quiet and serene and ive had the locker room to myself and didnt have to wait to use the shower. their pool and sunbathing area is never busy so you get the quiet serene experience it was meant to provide. its also one of the prettiest hidden spots in the city. despite being nestled right in the heart of state street shopping, you feel like youre a million miles away and time has stopped. all of their facilities are impeccably clean and beautifully designed. this last appointment was for the fire and ice facial, which is by far, the best facial ive ever had. i have never had my skin feel so young/soft/smooth as it did after the fire and ice. i swear my skin hasnt been the same since and this was almost a month ago. ive even noticed significantly less breaking out and sensitivity. as for my service provider, SATARA, she was awesome. just the right amount of talking, but with a plethora of knowledge about skincare and skin behavior. ive been doing microdermabrasion for a while, which i would always have that post microderm break-out a lot of us get right after and she said the fire and ice and other peels (with no downtime) might be a much better option for my skin because they arent as abrasive. she was absolutely right. my skin reacted so well to the peel she did, nothing like after microderm. she also had a lot of advice that ive since taken on a daily routine and everything she said would happen has. Satara is also just super sweet, which should certainly count for something. read more

I enjoyed an 80 min. deep tissue massage. The massage therapist was "good' and seemed knowledgeable. She was young and probably overworked, as she frequently yawned throughout my massage, which was slightly unpleasant. The locker room is very small and is intended to share with other clients. However, as I "floated" into the lcoker room two other women entered as well. I felt pushed aside by the hostess showing the two new clients the locker room, and there certainly was not room for three women to change int he locker room. At least, the two new clients certainly did not give my room. They took up the very small space by the lockers. This caused me to end my experience in a very unpleasant way. I will be very reluctant to return due to the lack of awareness by the employed hostess and the rude inconsiderate clients, and the too small locker room. Considering, the rather high prices, the spa should I have a nicer, and more relaxing locker room. read more
