Overall, I enjoyed floating. It was beneficial to my body and was very relaxing. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We brought most items like towel, ear plugs, etc. with us but they were provided. The facilities were outdated and the lighting was a bit dark. The first time I floated it was at a facility with bright, welcoming lighting and modern up to date float tanks. Unfortunately, I deleted the pictures I took of the facility so I don't have any to post with this review . When looking for a spa experience, environment is everything. I would not recommend you float here as a first experience. This was purchased as a Groupon so it wasn't pricey. However, I'm not sure I would return here for.a "spa like" experience, maybe just for the benefits of floating. read more

The process to schedule is efficient. The staff member was friendly and it was a calm, quiet environment in the lobby. When I first walked in, we were greeted by a staff member who showed us around the facility. The facility isn't kept up well. The upholstery on the lone massager chair was deeply cracked. The rooms are quite small and there's rust on some of the trim. When you open the door to the tank, theres a slight smell that reminds me of mildew. The tank in itself was clean which is good and the water was a comfortable temperature. Floating was surprisingly easy and my body felt more relaxed. Overall, I think floating isn't part of my journey and this facility needs some updating including better ventilation to mitigate viruses. read more

Still my favorite float center. They had a scheduling hiccup back in July 2018 where an employee decided to quit w/o notice. Needless to say I & many other floaters waited outside locked doors that day for an employee who never showed. My suggestion is to give the Indian-American young lady I always see who is polite, professional, courteous, & most important punctual a pay raise. For my birthday each year I try and give myself a new experience during my me day, this year it was an hour at float. I've read so many great things about sensory deprivation tanks and thought it would be a cool experience. When I arrived I was taken right back to my room and given a very brief orientation.. the young lady said she was new so it explains why it was so brief but I'm glad I did research ahead of time and pretty much knew what I was getting myself into. She did mention that room 3 was the largest so try and get a reservation for that one, I peaked into some of the open rooms as we were walking by and they looked TIGHT. Once she left I showered and proceeded to get into the tank. The step in was higher than I expected so be careful. There was also a spray bottle in the tank that she didn't explain to me so I have no clue what it was for. Like some others mentioned this tank did have some exposed piping but I found it oddly comforting to have something that my foot could touch. The water was body temperature and wasn't jarring at all getting into and the way was so buoyant that the moment I sat down my legs just floated right up to the surface. Nothing seeped in as far as light or sound so that was perfect. I will say I was still covered in salt even after my post shower so just be prepared for that. I decided to wear a swim cap to protect my hair and it also covered my ears so I didn't use the provided ear plugs. The experience overall was great and I found it was really time I needed to myself to get away from all the stressors of my life and just spend and hour with nothing more than my thought. The email mentioned tea or water afterwards and I wasn't offered any of that but over all I'm not mad at the experience I had and am I glad I chose this for my experience this year. I don't see myself doing it often but a few times a year it would be nice to use it as a personal reset. read more

Interesting concept but I didn't feel relaxed with the water temp so cool...by the end I was cold. VERY difficult to enter with bad knees & getting out was challenging also! The exposed duct tape & pipes inside the unit made it kinda creepy. It's pitched black...maybe fairy lights upon the ceiling. I am all about trying new things....so floating in total darkness, no sound, and water that is warm and HIGHLY salty? Sure I am in!! I scheduled this through Groupon for a lil date outing for my wife and I . We each had 90 minutes for ourselves in our own tank. The staff were wonderful, and explained the process. First we go in to our own room, disrobe, shower, and then we are ready to open the door to our pod. Put the supplied earplugs in to keep salt water out of your ears... I climbed in, and closed the door. The water is not deep ( more like a deep bathtub or spa). You can spread your arms out and..... barely touch a side...... This was the first time I had EVER been in a place that had warm water, total darkness, and no sound. I leaned back.....and so easily floated. It took a few minutes for my whirling dervish mind....to slowly stop spinning.......I hear my breathing....I hear by heartbeat. I LOVE IT! There came a point where I felt like, I lost where I ended..and the water began. That happens because the water is SO CLOSE to your body temp. I felt like I was floating on an ocean looking up at all the stars...(not in a pod).........and yet I felt safe and protected. I could "see" the stars.....with my eyes closed. Interesting sensation. This was a very positive, relaxing, spiritual experience, and I have already signed up for another session. If you are claustrophobic , you are free to leave the door open....you are in control of whatever you choose your experience to be. :-) read more

It was just OK. The facility was clean-ish but I just didn't like the tanks. It was pitch black with no option of any type of ambient light or light at all. The pitch black walls had duck tape and exposed pipes. It was kind of creepy to be honest. The shower floors weren't the cleanest and the body wash and shampoo was literally like water. First time floating and I thought I would enjoy it more than I actually did. I've never been a claustrophobic person but being in pitch blackness started to disorient me after a while. The tank isn't deep, it's about a foot of lukewarm very salty water, so it's not like you can't sit up but then you will probably get some water in your eyes and it does sting. It's not wide enough to extend your arms out fully but it was just long enough that I was able to stretch my arms above my head without touching the side. The chamber is lined with heavy duty black tarp and it felt like I was floating in a plastic bag. I couldn't really get used to the smell. Because the water is warm, the air is thick and muggy like a sauna and not easy to take deep breaths in. I opened the door to let in some air for the last 5 minutes and discovered I prefer floating with the door open. Wish they had lights inside the chamber as an option. I only floated for 40 min of my hour and got out because I was starting to feel dizzy. The massage chair is nice. I sat there afterwards to drink a seltzer water and use up the rest of my time. The employee at the reception desk was very nice and helpful and explained everything well. Booking an appointment and rescheduling were both easy and done online. They didn't have conditioner, so I washed my hair again when I got home to get the rest of the salt out. Glad I tried floating, and I don't consider it a waste of money by any means, but this was not for me. read more

I was looking for massages here on Yelp when I stumbled across Float Annapolis. I thought this might be a nice new way to try and relax. Jeff was great. Talked me through he whole process. I found myself very relaxed when it was done. It is totally dark and sound proof. So it's an interesting experience. Once you kind of "quiet your mind" your brain starts looking for stimuli. I wouldn't call it hallucinating, but you get little flashes of images and shapes. Nothing scary. You also lose perspective of time. I both felt that I was in there for much longer, and much shorter than an hour. But it really was an hour. When all was said and done, I must say, it was definitely a pleasurable experience. And one I would do again. I feel very relaxed. In my opinion, it's worth the money to at least try it. I would recommend at least an hour for your first time. It took me about 20 minutes to relax. He also has a massage chair, and saunas. The massage chair was great. But I didn't use the sauna. read more

Nothing bad to say about the facility itself maybe a different choice in shampoo and the earplugs stink, my husband and I both have water in our ears. Neck pillow should be offered. This isn't my first float location, so I knew what to expect going in. I didn't need the tour, I know how to do the before and after etc. My biggest reason for not giving 5 stars is that the water temperature was lukewarm at best. By the time that I got out, it was cold and if I removed any parts of my body while in the tank and put it back in the water, I could feel the chill. First floating experience. I have been meaning to find a reputable place for several years. I just stumbled upon FLOAT Annapolis on Groupon. Making an appointment was easy. My Groupon voucher had expired at the beginning of the month but they were nice enough to accept it. The staff was very friendly. The young woman that helped me made me feel very comfortable. I was a bit apprehensive about trying it out for the first time. Your personal room is very private, spacious and aesthetically pleasing. There is a shower and several soaps and shampoos to choose from. Ear plugs and petroleum jelly(you rub it on any wounds like hang nails so that the super salty water doesn't burn you) are provided. They have a cabin style sensory deprivation tank so you have tons of room, you don't have to bend over to step in and once inside you have plenty of room to stand up. I can imagine that being a major plus for anyone that is claustrophobic. Overall, wonderful experience. My advice is to RELAX. You aren't going to sink! It took me a few moments to accept that. I booked my next session before I left. Great thing about booking another appointment before you leave: you get to pay the Groupon price rather than full price! I definitely recommend FLOAT Annapolis and trying out a sensory deprivation tank in general. read more

I went to Float in Annapolis to use the sauna. I was surprised to find a place where you could access a sauna complete privacy. I was greeted by the lovely receptionist Christina, she showed me to my room, gave me a little info and left me to relax. She gave me a little extra time in the sauna which was great. The rooms are very relaxing, Iove the variety of soaps in the dispenser (I showered before and after), towels and wash cloths are provided if you don't bring your own, I suggest bringing shower shoes. When I was done, Christina made sure I enjoyed the sauna and gave me a tour of a float chamber. I will return to experience the float chamber. Also should add I think the price is perfect! read more

I came here for the first time with my mother, and neither of us have done flotation therapy before, and we were nervous and skeptical of what was going to happen. The woman at the desk was welcoming and kind, and you just felt like she was your neighbor she was so sweet. She gave us great instructions, answered all our questions and made us feel comfortable. If you are doing this for the first time it will be hard to just let go and relax, but do not give up or think it does not work, I was moving and fighting it, but the last 30 minutes I was able to relax and it felt like floating on a cloud! If you have any muscle pain or joint pain, and any amount of stress I'd highly recommend it, but don't expect it to melt away after the first session, go back a few times(I definitely will) and I see how much it can benefit a person!! read more

I arrived for my orientation and was shocked to be ushered into a dimly lit room with very little room to move. The tank was awkwardly located behind a door and the blacken tank had very little room to open or keep the door open in an emergency. Having back and neck problems I was frightened to even try to step over the steep ledge to enter the tank without assistance.I left without using it and was told the advertised sauna that I could have used would require extra payment. Handicap restrictions and access should have been discussed. If there were an emergency there is no way someone could call for help. read more

The spa is clean and comfortable. There is a shower in the room with a soap dispenser filled with several fragrances of shampoo/shower gel combo. You shower before and after your float and there are towels available. Bring your own deodorant, a comb, and non-slip shower shoes. The float tank was large and about 100 degrees. It was completely dark and had no smell. While I was showering after my float, I heard the cleaning system kick on to sanitize the tank. read more

Not a good first time experience - we were given almost no instruction on what to expect - simply told to shower before and after.. no instruction on how to exit the tank if need be.. Staff member knew it was our first visit. Have had more instruction on going into a tanning bed.. Both of us were disappointed in the experience but most of all felt the lack of advice was terrible. The flotation experience very different. It was hard to enjoy it similarly to my first time meditating. I did enjoy it, but I think after one or two more visits I would really get the benefits of experience. I say that in that there were some things I wish I knew before going in, so that I really could enjoy the experience more, but I think it comes after trying it out, rather than things you can read. However, don't get the water in your eyes... it will sting. That means, don't sit up after lying down because the water will run down your face. What that means, is keep it to a minimum because obviously you have to sit up when you are getting out. Also, there is only Epsom salt in there, so don't freak out and think ... do I also have chlorine all over my body?! The water and tea was nice, as one needs a little drink before and after! I think the hot water faucet was broken, but cold mint tea is nice too :) read more

This is a great experience for relieving stress and also helped with my achy shoulder. I'd definitely recommend trying it for anyone who's looking to have a little more zen in their life or has pain from a chronic/traumatic injury. I actually had a bad day just getting there, because of traffic and a crazy schedule, which sucked and stressed me out even more. The manager (Jeff) was super cool and chill (good fit for the place), didn't mind when I showed up late, and let me have all the time I needed. Had a glass of tea (free tea/coffee/drinks are my fave perk anywhere) while he explained the process/benefits, then I got my float on. The facilities in general were very new, clean, modern but classic, and there's a great low-key, relaxed vibe to the whole experience. Also, I didn't book anything besides a float, but there also saunas and a massage chair; next time I'm definitely leaving time for the massage chair. The floating is a little surreal for the first 5-10 minutes as your brain tries to make sense of the experience. But then it begins to quiet and you start to really find a calm, mellow place most of us probably haven't been to since we were kids. Pro-tip (or perhaps idiot tip, we'll find out soon): when the music began to play to let me know my time was up, I tried floating on my face, and it was really awesome. I decided to try something new that I hoped would possibly help me relax, since stress was taking a toll on my health. The young lady at the front desk greeted me warmly. She took me back to my float room and explained the entire process. She told me that I could prop open the door if I was uncomfortable or if I started to panic. She also told me that if I felt the float tank wasn't for me, that I could enjoy sitting in one of their massage chairs instead. At first, I did find that I had to prop the door open all the way. Then, as time went by, I closed the door most of the way. By the end of the float session, I was able to close the door fully. I realized on my drive home how relaxed I felt and just how great it was. The feeling of relaxation remained with me for the rest of the day. I will definitely do float therapy again! read more

First time floating (Float is located behind Crownsville fairgrounds and near a retirement community) and on Easter Sunday no less...what a relaxed facility and awesome staff. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will return regularly. If it's your first time floating like me, I suggest you pretend you're cool going nude into a dark box, definitely use the earplugs, lay in tank with head towards door, and wipe the salt from your eyes with towel hanging on the door. I went in a little dehydrated and was glad to have refreshment when I got out. It took a long time to get really relaxed and I only knew it when I woke up with a start and realized I had slipped into a light sleep. FLOAT offers other services (massage, sauna) that we're interested in trying. read more

I have been to other float spas previously before visiting Float Annapolis. I had high hopes and thought that it was more luxurious. I was not impressed with my first visit to the Float Annapolis. 1. There was no warm welcome at hello. There was no orientation to help me learn about the facility. I was simply led to the room and the young lady left. 2. The room was tight. When I attempted to exit the chamber at the end of the float, I almost hit my bag, which was hung on the back of the other door. 3. There was no extra towel and a separate bottle of water for me to clean the salt water off my face. 4. The towel was very rough and scratchy. I would bring my own towel next time. 5. The facility has no fragrance policy, but the shower area has a variety of scented shower gel. I don't like scented products. 6. The facility offers no floatation device, such as the float pillow. 7. There is no robe, no shower shoes. I brought my own slippers. 8. Worst of all, there is no area for me to sit down to do my hair. I had to stand in front of a mirror in a bathroom with my hair dryer and brushes in the sink. Immediately after the float, I like to sit down and drink hot tea while working on my hair. There is no seat in the bathroom. It seems that the set up is minimum to encourage the customers to leave shortly after the float session. While I enjoyed the float session in the chamber, other deficiencies mentioned above did not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling to return. The fee is high considering the amenities offered. I would rather go to Frederick in the future. read more

I have been to several different float spas and this was my first experience in Annapolis. I was pretty disappointed. I arrived and the person checking me in asked if I had floated before and I said yes so she just showed me to the room and was ready to leave. I had to ask a lot of questions ... where's the bathroom, is there a hair dryer, shampoo, etc. then I opened the tank and asked where the lights were. Was told there were none in the tank. Usually there are small led lights that you can shut off. This can be very dangerous as it is impossible to see to grab the handles to get up. Also something was floating in the tank and I couldn't tell what it was. I think a water bottle but I wasn't told about it. The water was also very tepid, wasn't soothing to enter. Lastly when I left there was no "thank you for coming" etc. Whole experience was underwhelming. I can't say that I'd return. I've paid the same price in West Chester PA and Charleston SC and left feeling like I had been to a spa. Sad that wasn't the case here. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Everything was fine until stepping into the chamber. Opened the door and there was exposed pipes and plumbing. Weird right? Grabbed the wall to get in and there was duck tape on the wall? After getting in and sitting down, I quickly felt what was like hair, I opened the door and looked and sure enough it was clumps of hair. Absolutely disgusting. I am so appalled. I know it wasn't my hair because it was not my color hair...at all. Then, my boyfriend came out of his chamber because he was disgusted. He laid down and felt something hit him in the face and thought it was his ear plugs. He checked his ears and quickly realized both of his were still in, opened the door and there were ear plugs in his chamber. How disgusting. We had a float for an hour and left 30 minutes in. Very disgusting and not clean at all. Very, very disappointing, I will be contacting a manager. read more

As someone who is into alternative healing I wanted to try something new for my restless nights of sleep and occasional anxiety. When I walked in the facility everything was so nice and clean. The woman working at the front desk was so welcoming and warm and immediately put me at ease as I was a little nervous for the whole experience. She gave me step by step instructions and went above and beyond to make sure I had the most comfortable and relaxing experience as possible. In the beginning I found it a little hard to relax but by the end I was almost asleep! I emerged on the "other side" to tranquil meditation music and knew that was my cue that my session was over. In the shower they provide you with four different types of shampoo that smell fantastic. I felt like I just woke up from a nap with how calm and relaxed I felt. After my experience the woman graciously asked how my session was and offered me complimentary tea or water. The staff and overall experience was wonderful and I will definitely be returning. Needless to say I slept like a baby that night. read more

I visited FLOAT for the first time on Father's Day with my husband and could not be happier with my experience there! The owner, Jeff, could not be nicer or more accommodating, and the space is clean, modern, and inviting. He gave us clear instructions and helped us get set up with everything we'd need for before, during, and after the float session. After a quick shower to rinse off, I was a little nervous about going into the flotation chamber. But since it is so spacious (you can literally stand up and walk around in there), it did not feel confining at all. I was also able to keep the door open a little bit for the first few minutes so that I wasn't in total darkness until I got comfortable with it. You definitely do float like a cork, and the water is the perfect temperature so that after a few minutes, you don't even really feel the water anymore. It is extremely peaceful -- you can't see, hear, smell, or really feel anything. Relaxing music plays for the first few minutes, and then starts up again at the end to let you know your time is up. I am also about 30 weeks pregnant, and have to say that floating felt SO GOOD on my aching muscles and joints -- my body felt better than it has in months. I'll definitely be back for more time in the float tanks! read more

Enjoyed the Float Tank and the customer service was great. I will only give three stars because of their sporadic hours. I have tried several times, since my first appointment to schedule a follow-up appointment either on-line or by phone and have been unsuccessful. You can only get appointments three or four days out and can never reach anyone by phone (sometimes after a hard day, I just want to go and relax). However, when I drive by the establishment between the hours not available for appointments, they are closed. I think the business is a great attribute to the community. However, their hours should be more consistent for the customer. read more

This was ridiculous! I went here because I have bad knees. You float in a big bathtub that is dark not one speck of light. Having bad knees it was hard to get into the tub, nothing to hold onto because you can not see anything. The employee gave me a wash cloth to dab my eyes and told me there was a water bottle in the bath if I need to wash the salt from my eyes. It was dark so where would I be able to put the cloth or even see the bottle. I laid in the water on my back and thought this is silly my knees hurt and it was above water. I tried to put my knees under water but could not hold on so fell in the water. I got out after 20 minutes could not find the handle or door. It is like closing your eyes and trying to find you way out of a room filled with water. I hit the door to get out it was too hot could not get out of the tub it was too slippery, I struggled to finally get out to wash off. The soap or shampoo no label I wash my hair. The salt water ruin my hair I had to go home and oil treat my hair. This float spa is not for older people and not for people that have any pain or damage to any front part of their bodies. The water only gets on your back or butt and only somewhat. Save your money get some Epsom salt, you can enjoy a drink, music, reading in the comfort of your own bathroom PLUS LIGHTS. read more
