It gets you from point A to Point B. Sometimes, it's a nice bus. Sometimes, it's not. Sometimes, the bus arrives and departs early. Sometimes, it arrives and departs late. There isn't an office/lounge/official waiting area location as it's usually gas stations or random street corners so you're exposed to the elements. However, it does get you from point A to point B. It's a service I use out of desperation when flight times don't make sense for my needs. read more

Have ridden from Austin to Katy round-trip and Dallas to Houston. Each time, the driver seems to have an attitude problem or desire to flex their authority. Have seen the driver deny access to people waiting 4 minutes before departure time, not to mention the people who arrived less than 4 minutes to departure time, but still before departure time. Have also seen the driver on the Dallas to Houston trip make a student buy them snacks. Like when the student didn't immediately say okay to paying for his snacks, he stared her down and repeated himself until she got off the bus and walked to the counter to pay for his snacks. This is coercement. She probably only paid because she was afraid he'd leave her stranded at the midway stop instead of her destination. If this system wasn't essentially the only reliable way to travel between these cities without relying on carpooling with strangers, I would not be using it. One way tickets on Friday/Sunday were $30-$40 each on a random non holiday week, so the trip wasn't extremely cheap either. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. They were running 3 hours late on the ride out (we could have literally driven ourselves) - no updates until it was well passed the time - we just had to continuously call until someone could tell us what was going on, we didn't recieve any kind of notification until it was already 2 hours behind schedule, letting us know it would be leaving 3 hours behind the original leave time. On the way back, we changed our leave time to later in the day and they marked us as no shows on the original time, we tried to speak to customer service and they would not allow us to speak to a manager + hung up on us after trying to navigate what happened. Beyond that - if you get lucky enough to not have an insane amount of trouble getting on the actual but, it is extremely uncomfortable, tiny seats, not possible to work in any capacity as the tray table is too small, and the bus smelled like garbage. I would never put myself through that kind of an ordeal ever again. read more

The bus I was on from Dallas to Austin broke down in Waco. The bus driver didn't communicate AT ALL to the passengers (even though I went & suggested he do so). We ended up having to band into groups & organise Ubers ourselves. Flixbus emailed 2 hours later (!) to say there had been a delay & another bus would arrive in 1 hour. They did not offer a refund or compensation for the Uber. I wrote in to complain & they said the trip was completed so they cannot refund (even though it was a three hour delay) & I didn't complete the trip through them & had to pay extra to sort it out myself. I cannot understand how a company like this is still allowed to operate. There was a woman with a young baby on board & a lot of college students alone making trips home or to see their friends for Halloween. This was the most appalling national bus trip I've experienced (even in countries like Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, Thailand & Bali). The WiFi onboard didn't work & the only compensation they offered was a refund for any snacks & drinks we had bought during our wait. No one did that because there was nowhere at the Waco bus stop to buy anything & once we were in the Uber we just wanted to get home. Some people got stuck paying for Uber's during price surge because they had to get to their destination & couldn't wait for the replacement bus. Disgusting company. I will never board one of their buses (or their third-party buses) again. They need to be run out of business. read more

We took this bus from Houston to Texas. For 2 people, it came to around 180 dollars including bags, bit expensive than we hoped. Front seats were purchased but very uncomfortable, not worth it. Bus was on time, driver was not helpful in loading bags. Overall, I wish I had rented a car and drove which would have been more comfortable and cheaper. My verdict, for 2 or more people with bags, this is not recommended. read more

I highly recommend against FlixBus. Their busses frequently run (very) late, and they don't make any effort to notify customers (no email/text/call). Whats worse is the busses often pick up in dark parking lots without any seating or protection from the elements, so you could be waiting in the rain or in the dark in an unsafe neighborhood waiting for hours. And good luck contacting anyone - there is no phone number available anywhere. When you contact support on their website, it's just a bot or a call center farm overseas that is trained to say no. No one cares to Here's one experience I had with them, as an example: On March 7, 2024, we arrived to the bus station in downtown Austin, TX 15 minutes early, per instructions. The bus station was actually a dark parking lot with no seats and no protection from the elements, in a relatively unsafe part of town. This was doubly bad as it was a rainy evening in Austin and there was no covering in the parking lot. After waiting and the departure time passing, we contacted FlixBus only to find out that the bus was delayed more than 45 minutes. FlixBus made no attempt to contact us via email, text, or phone. Had we been notified, we would have waited in our hotel. Instead, we were left waiting in rain in a dark parking lot. FlixBus put us in an unsafe and uncomfortable situation, and we expect a full refund. I have contacted the support team, and they made no apologies for the delay or lack of communication. Instead, they stated that their policy is that refunds are only issued for delays over two hours. I would have been more forgiving if we had received any notice. Airlines, trains, and other transportation providers notify their customers about delays, and FlixBus should be obligated to do so as well. Even as I'm writing this, I can see on their website that the bus still hasn't arrived and is not 50 minutes late - and growing. We were not about to wait in the rain in an unsafe neighborhood with all of our luggage for 50+ minutes hoping the bus would come. FlixBus customer support was entirely unempathetic and unhelpful, and seemed to have no concern for the safety of their passengers. Terrible service and disregard for putting their customers in precarious situations. Two hour delay was the first red flag- not notified of this until I arrive at the bus stop- but it gets worse...I arrive two hours later and watch at least 6 people get off one bus and start waiting for the same one I'm waiting for. Ten minutes later, I decide to check the website and find out my trip was cancelled completely. Luckily I have a place I can go to but most of the people left at that stop didn't. Flixbus is scamming people when they change the schedule and then won't grant a proper refund, not even a voucher. They changed the scheduled departure of my bus from Austin to Dallas. Putting it off by 80 minutes meant I was going to get to Dallas too late. So I canceled my reservation, expecting to get a voucher for another trip at a later date. For a $46 ticket, they refunded me $6.20 on the grounds that I canceled less than 48 yours before departure. I complained. The live chat agent told me I had to have requested the voucher before I canceled and then stopped the conversation. This policy is deceitful and hateful. read more

Worst trip ever! I have used Flexbus often with no complaints. The drivers have always been friendly, approachable and courteous. However this last trip I took with my son from Houston to Austin was the worst ever. We got to the pick up location and there was no sign of the Flix bus. However there was a chartered bus parked on the side, not the usual place for pickup. On previous trips the driver will be out of the bus with the under carriage doors lifted ready for loading. The driver was slouched in his seat as if on a break. Nothing stating it was subbing for Flix bus to Austin. My son approached the driver and ask if the bus was the one going to Austin. Instead of answering my son the driver came back with what's your name. When we started loading our bags about a dozen people started towards the bus. When they did he told them they were late and would have to buy another ticket. He gave several riders the third degree. Whdn we got on the bus he told my son there was assigned seating and he was in the wrong seat. Mind you there were 3 different identifying labels on each seat. Once we are on the road the driver gets on the mike and starts in about no smoking on the bus b/c there are 3 smoke alarms on the bus and once they go office headquarters send the police and will search everyone to identify and arrest the smoker and the country folk police don't play around. Like the ones in "Elgenton". He said he himself don't have any problem with smoking or vapping and if some needed to smoke he would stop in Bastrop for a break. This driver was rude with an attitude and wore a shirt and shorts that looked as if he wore them to bed. This experience is making me think about NEVER riding Flix bus again. read more

I reached out to customer service, which was very slow to respond, and when they did, they had no info about if or when the bus was coming. Totally unhelpful. It was so bad, They cancelled my bus 3 hours before, and all the buses back to my hometown. I was basically left stranded and buy the last ticket on the oinly bus leaving Houston, a first class bus. Then they refunded me for what they SAID was the whole ticket, but wasnt the figure I paid. They also refused to compensate me for my bus ticket because it was first class even though that was my only option as i couldnt afford a hotel, which they refused to cover also despite their customer policy. considering my firstbus wassuper late would say do not ride wuth them- you are much better off with the other companies, at least they stick to their word. so disappointed. read more

Flixbus is a mess, especially after merging with Greyhound. They sent notice that bus was 30 minutes late, but it actually arrived early but they did not notify us about this. As a result, we missed the bus, no refund. Customer service is rude. If bus is late, expect no help from Flixbus. read more

I had a terrible first time experience. Something was malfunctioning with the on-board bathroom system. There was a raw sewage smell that got into the air ducts. Everyone could smell it, but the driver didn't even say anything. I don't know if I'll give it another another chance. read more

I took the Flix bus from Austin on Shady Lane) to Houston . It was on time coming and going. The seats are oddly reclined that I found it uncomfortable . the air conditioning worked amazingly well but was a bit too chilly for me . I'd recommend taking a pillow to put behind your back and a blanket if you get cold easily. I drove my car to the shady lane greyhound station. Bad area, don't park on the street. If you need public parking there is a public parking place about 5 minutes from the station but by the time I thought about moving my car it was too late to get to the lot and Uber back to the station (an additional cost I hadn't planned on).Going to Houston not many people were on the bus . A woman was in my seat. I did tell her to move out of my seat as I paid for that seat. The way back the driver told each person to sit wherever you want and there was some woman stretch over the seat I bought. Well since the driver said sit wherever you want that completely disregarded any seat assignment I bought. The drop off place in Houston is a gas station, no signs are anything but for me it didn't matter my daughter knew where to pick me up . Overall I think it was a good ride, cheap $29 each way ( Austin to Houston) and cheaper than the amount of gas I would pay if I drove and saved myself the frustration of driving for 3 hours each way. I had to come to yelp, because y'all really scared me after I read the reviews for this company! I purchased a ticket online never hearing of Flixbus and then I read the terrible reviews after the fact and saw there was zero refund. I had *so* much anxiety after reading the reviews that I would be stranded in the Walmart parking lot. I arrived 10 minutes early in a Lyft and the bus was already there waiting. The driver was kind and loaded up both of my giant suitcases (you get 1 free and pay $25 for extra which is more than the seat ). I upgraded my seat to the front seat next to driver and even bought the seat next to me, and it was worth it. Big front window, bus was comfortable and clean. I took off one star because there were no charger outlets on bus or signs for the busses destination (I almost got in one to Houston) I went from the Austin S. Congress stop to San Antonio, where they drop you off downtown at an actual greyhound station where I could finally charge my phone and call a ride safely. It was safe, easy and a 2 hr trip. I have to remind myself that people go to the Internet to complain. I wanted to come and share my positive experience on 4.22.24 - trust the universe - choose to be happy. read more

For what it is, this company does it's job. They are on time and very no frills. But they get you from point A to point B and on time.

I wish I could go lower than 1 star , horrible customer service, I have booked a return ticket a day in advance , once I've realized it I tried to correct my mistake and the "manage your booking" link was completely useless , the customer service associate on the chat line was useless and the bus driver would not let me on board even thought her bus was half empty. Poor customer service. Not reliable at all. I booked two trips with them, and both of them were cancelled at the last minute. I purchased the tickets weeks in advance to make sure that I would not be bumped off for overbooking. They also have the worse refund policy, i.e. they do not give you a refund unless you go to their site and request it. Plus, they do not offer substitute, or alternatives. It's SHOCKING the kind of drivers they allow. I arrived at 6:55 pm for a 7pm bus. He was pulling away. I ran, he stopped. I then was belittled and berated for 10 minutes. I get it I cut it close. Every one of us hit the seat in front of us when he slammed on his brakes on a downhill you could see miles of (if you were looking). He was on the phone. The entire trip. If I could a negative 5 star rating, I would. This was the worst experience EVER! We booked a ticket for our son from Dallas to San Antonio. The bus arrived an hour late and then 2 hours into the trip, the driver said he had to go back to Dallas to pick up someone else. Every passenger was angry and frustrated, but the driver didn't care. The arrival time in San Antonio ended up 4 hours later than scheduled! The only customer service number I could find was in England! I was finally able to get a hold of someone by phone and they told me they were located in Kosovo, Serbia. Are you kidding me?!? This really felt like a third world country experience. When I asked for a refund through their website portal for customer service issues, they told me it was impossible and that refunds are only given to people when the bus was 2 hours late. Never, ever, use this bus line (can't bring my self to call it service) if your life depends on it!!! read more

Flix is similar to Red Coach and even the post-pandemic version of megabus. Don't ever buy add-ons, like a nice seat, because they probably won't have it and only give a voucher instead of a refund. Use Greyhound everyone! At least they have a real station and don't outsource absolutely everything so there is some level of accountability if you have a question or problem. read more

If I could give Flixbus less than 1 star, I would. I've ridden the mega bus many times between Houston and Austin to see loved ones and every single time it has gone smoothly - it's affordable and comfortable. I took a chance on Flixbus this trip because there were no mega bus rides that would get me into town by the time I needed. Firstly, the flixbus stops are sketchy and unofficial. There was no signage and no personal assisting riders, which created a stressful onboarding that I've never experienced with mega bus. Secondly, they double book the seats so I did not get to sit in the seat I was forced to pay extra money for. On mega bus, you can get general seating with no extra cost, but on flix bus you must pay extra to get a specific seat. Which, by the way, I paid $80 for a one way ride. I have never paid this much for a one way trip with mega bus, but in this situation I was desperate to be at my destination by a certain time. Maybe it is just the particular ride I was on, but it was uncomfortable and unpleasant in every way that a bus ride could possibly be. The bus driver stopped at buccees and made us stay on the bus while they used the restroom and leisurely retrieved snacks, putting us 20 minutes behind schedule. The seats are smaller than mega bus and because the bus was double booked, it was very packed. On mega bus they usually remind people to wear head phones and keep phone talking to a minimum and mega bus rides are usually very quiet and peaceful. On Flixbus, there was no such reminder. There was constantly someone talking loudly on the phone and multiple people at a time playing their devices out loud. The driver even played the radio on the overhead speakers which made it even less relaxing. To make matters worse, for some reason the air conditioning system was off so there was no circulation and it was incredibly hot and smelly. The driver also consistently slammed on the breaks. Perhaps all of these things are just an unlucky coincidence and not necessarily a reflection of FlixBus as a whole. But nonetheless, I will never ride FlixBus ever again, even when I'm desperate. No one should pay $80 for a ride that horrible. read more

I booked a ticket with Flixbus from Austin to Dallas. Not only did they cancel day-of, within a few hours of the ride, but they did not say A SINGLE word to the passengers. I and a couple dozen passengers were left waiting around at the pickup spot for almost an hour until one person finally got ahold of Flixbus over the phone and was told the route was cancelled. If she hadn't called, we would never have known. We ended up getting rebooked to a ride not only leaving from a different location, but arriving over THIRTY MILES from where I was supposed to. Piss poor company. Go with Megabus or Greyhound. read more

Flixbus is a middle man and nothing more. Their contractors are unreliable and when you contact Flixbus customer support, they have no way of confirming if or when a bus will arrive. I gave up after 2 hours of waiting while their app initiated automatic "delayed" update times. Unfortunately could not wait and caught a flight from DFW to AUS instead. Found out the bus was eventually cancelled at 2pm after the last update of 1:10pm departure from the original 8:10 scheduled time. DO NOT USE them. I am from out of state and was headed to Houston which was a short 3 hour a way. Rather than drive I thought I would help the environment and take a comfortable bus where I could do my work. I show up at the departure place 15 minutes early, as they request. My Uber didn't want to leave me there because it wasn't a good location, but lo and behold a Flix bus pulls up immediately. I put my stuff under the bus and get in line hand my phone to the driver who looks at it and waves me on. I get to the two seats I paid for and someone is sitting in one of them. I was going to ask the driver but he was not friendly and no one was sitting in their assigned seats and the person seemed nice enough. We are driving for about 5 minutes when I look at my watch and realize that we took off early which is strange and so I ask the person next to me where the bus is headed and she says Dallas! The driver DID NOT ANNOUNCE the destination before he left and there was so no sign, I made him stop and just drop me off in the middle of no where because he refused to call anyone. I, of course, missed my actual bus. This cost me about an extra $70 and their customer service refuses to refund my ticket!! My daughter bought a $62 ticket for the 3.5 hour ride from Austin to Dallas. 30 minutes into the ride the Flixbus driver caused an accident and had to pull over. They made every passenger get off the bus and stand on the side of the highway for 4+ hours. No communication on a replacement bus for 3+ hours. We finally had an Uber pick her up and bring her to us in Dallas, that cost us $215. A week later she called them to get a refund, she was turned down, twice. I then called and some stooge finally offered me a 50% discount. Their agent could give a ###k about the issue. His attitude, their shoty drivers, their phone system which routes you to several Disconnects sums up why their overall rating is 1.5 stars. I drove my son to the pickup location on 6th street and the frontage road of I-35 and arrived at 2:30 to wait with my son for the bus. Approximately at 3pm when the scheduled bus was to arrive, a smaller black limousine style bus with some other company name on it showed up. The other people awaiting for the bus started to inquire if this was indeed the flixbus. The driver confirmed that indeed it was the correct bus headed for Denton, for which we had a ticket for. However, she stated that she was given a smaller bus that day and only had room for a couple of seats. She refused to let us on the bus as every passenger had to have a seat. We were told by her that she could do nothing to help us and to call the company for a refund. The company has no customer service to speak of and ignores the facts and refuses a refund. read more

It's the worst bus service ever. Rode it from austin to dallas. The original flix bus didn't come. They had some other company give their colllege bus. No assigned seats so don't pay extra to get the seat you want. The AC doesn't work. The toilet was spewing with throw up smell that floated out to your seat each time someone opens the door. read more
