We didn't want to leave our car parked at the Austin airport for 2 weeks, and knew we'd be jet-lagged on our return. I feel fortunate to have found A Cheap Ride and Pat Johnson. As it turned out, our first experience with Pat showed exactly how good he is. Our British Airways flight outbound was delayed, but we received little information on our end as to the reason for the delay or how late the flight might be. Coincidentally, Pat was expecting to pick up a passenger on the inbound non-stop from LHR (which was obviously delayed as well). Through Pat, we found out more than we were able to get online from the carrier! We were also delayed on our return flight, but Pat was there waiting in baggage claim for us. His service is simply over the top. We enjoyed conversing with Pat as he drove. Since he's been in the Austin/Round Rock area for many years, he's accumulated a wealth of knowledge about the area, local people, and local businesses. His retention of information and attention to detail are amazing. And while he's a careful and cautious driver, he made excellent time getting us to and from the airport. Pat is very much in touch with his customers, knows his business well, and cares about the quality of service his company provides. He is an excellent communicator, so you can feel confident that he will keep you informed as to when you'll be picked up. And, most importantly in this type of business, he is reliable, punctual, and does exactly what he says he will. I highly recommend A Cheap Ride for an excellent experience.

Years ago, I stumbled upon them on complete accident - funny how life works out. I had a very last-minute trip and needed a ride to the airport. I contemplated Uber but didn't trust their driver availability for an early morning flight. Pat promptly returned my call and I booked our first trip with him. We later found out he does field his own calls so he may not answer the phone if he is driving (which I appreciated when I was in the car). As others have mentioned, Pat is a great conversationalist and a wealth of information. Having grown up in the area, he knows it like the back of his hand. On a more recent airport trip, my SO discovered he forgot something, and Pat offered to make a stop at the store so we could buy it before we departed. This gesture alone demonstrates how above and beyond he is willing to go to make sure you have everything you need. Not only that, but he knew exactly where a store was when we were driving on a random section of Toll road. And there I was in the backseat still trying to pull up my Google Maps. It is his consistent attention to detail that we most appreciate. He texts us the day before pickup so we can sleep well knowing he'll be there tomorrow. He keeps an eye on our flight status and will text if there's any delays. He also keeps an eye on TSA wait times so we know what to expect when we get to the airport. And of course, all his cars are spotless, well-maintained and sanitized between each trip. The short of it is that this is a locally-owned business I am glad to continue to support for years to come. Thanks for your punctuality and professionalism at all the ungodly hours of the morning. See you on our next trip in a few months or so!

    The owner, Rico's friend, recommended this company to me, so I was looking forward to a great night…read moreout. I texted them, paid my $100 deposit, and was set for my gathering. Fast forward to the night of my event, June 28, Rico assigned Desirey Simpson to me as a driver. All appeared to go well. I paid my final invoice, and we are ready to ride out. The night was going well, but I started getting notifications of unauthorized charges to my card. But I'm dumbfounded because I physically have my card. But in the light of not ruining the trip, we carried on. The following day, I started trying to dig into this mysterious $160 charge. I got the company, etc. While sitting and having brunch, I get hit with another charge: $100 from the same establishment. So now I'm losing it. Early that day, we got a call that my sister had passed away, and with these unauthorized charges, I am now being forced to freeze my account to figure this out, all while having to depend on family and friends who traveled to town for my event to now pay for things on my behalf. After calling the establishment, it was determined that Rico's driver fraudulently used my card. I contacted Rico, who had a very nonchalant attitude. Once I mentioned getting the authority involved, he told me the gaming company would return my money, but I never mentioned the gaming company. So, that leads me to believe he was involved, especially since I paid through the link he provided. I never gave either my card. I requested the money be returned, and he tried to send it back to me as an overpayment. I refused because it was not an overpayment but theft. I left town because of my sister's passing on July 1 and upon my return, July 16,, due to not having access to my account, I had a vacate notice on my door. I had to spend 2.5 hours in the bank clearing this up and another 2 hours with my leasing company. Once I brought my attention back to this matter, I realized that Rico never applied my deposit and overcharged me. I texted him this, and he said I was correct, but he never returned my money. At that point, I created an invoice and requested a full refund of $540, a $100 overpayment, and the $260 stolen. He refused and stated he would give me $370. He totally did not care about the inconvenience and hardship caused by his staff. I have screenshots of all stated here, and I just warn all to be aware and cautious!

First when we stopped off to the…read morestore my sister was left inside and the driver drove off we had to turn back around and get her after she told the driver she was going in the store then...The A/c in the party bus wasn't work good at all everyone was sweating ND hot ND we cut down our places to go due to no one wanting to be on the bus because it was hot Also I received a call from his Girlfriend the next day letting me know that she is his girlfriend and basically he was over there spreading lies so we had to get somethings cleared although he do have a WIFE. So yeah it's safe to say I won't be dealing with this so call professional service ever again.

Upon getting in the cab, I repeatedly asked him to turn on the meter and was ignored. Then I told him that I would only pay LESS than $10 for the three miles I asked him to drive me. When we arrived at my home, I thought I was being generous in giving $10 cash (He said his credit card machine is broken, surprise) He told me I need to give him an additional $15! I sat in his van debating with him for 5 minutes in front of my house. He backed up the van twice threatening me in a raised voice that "He is not afraid of a problem". I told him that without a meter reading or pre-written price list, $10 was all that he could get out me, and I got out of the van. He exited the van using profanity, following me to the gate, trying to grab me and block my path, and when I finally got inside my door, he was lurking behind it. He stayed until the police made him leave.
