Consistently has terrible lunch service. I am not sure if they are always short staffed or have a poor training program at this location. Today we asked the waitress several times for the check but she had no sense of urgency, 20 minutes later someone at our table had to get her attention from across the room to get our checks. The waitress (who was already in a terrible mood) then had the worst attitude and even yelled at our table. There was a table that had a spilled beverage before we arrived, the ladies asked that we inform our server that there was still liquid under the table. When I tried informing our waitress she abruptly interrupted me and yelled saying she knew there was water under the table. Lunch service should not take over an hour! With Boomerjacks opening just a few restaurants down you'd think Flips would try to gain business but unfortunately they are only losing business; the surrounding tables were just as unhappy. The Grapevine Flips should take notes from the Fort Worth Flips, they have great service! I gave two stars because we love the queso nachos, it's the perfect Friday lunch. Flips food is great, sucks their service is the worst I've ever seen. read more

All area restaurants just fully opened. Guests are asked to wear masks while moving around inside but not out on the patio. Ordered burgers and kids chicken strips. All were great and the Smokey bacon burgers were fully loaded and awesome. Kids Chicken strips were fairly tender and were large pieces of white meat heavily breaded. Servers were very busy on a Friday night. read more

A regular here, the staff works very hard! The food itself is awesome, but the people make this place. Come for a beer, to sit on the patio, or to order their burger of the month. You'll have a great time! read more

Went today at 2:30 and sat on the patio. It was the worst service I have had in a long time. Our server, Moesha was so rude. We asked for a drink refill and her response was...I heard you. It took 10 minutes for her to return. In a service industry where you rely on tips, you would think servers would give a darn. Well We won't be back any time soon!! Also smells like smoke inside and on the patio!! read more

Very unprofessional. So, you are saying you are a restaurant who caters to the public. But, if you have people who decide to buy out the whole restaurant then the public has to go other places to eat without whatsoever any kind of compensation from you. Yes, we will not be spending any more money there or back to eat in your restaurant. I'd rather not waste my time driving and going inside to find out you don't have any room and we have to leave to go somewhere else. Have a good day. read more

I recently hosted a baby shower at Flips in Grapevine and it was a wonderful experience. From the time I called to book the private room, until we cleaned up and left the party, the service we received was above board and everyone we worked with was helpful and nice. I arrived 30 minutes early and there was a family seated in the section. I wasn't worried because I was early, but the staff and manager became super accommodating and started arranging the room early and even put my cake in the cooler for me. Our server, Matt, was excellent. He helped me set up and decorate the room before guests arrived and was very attentive and made sure each guest was well taken care of during the party. We used a restaurant.com gift certificate to pay for appetizers for the group and they took it without hesitation. Matt made sure to keep close track of our tab, letting me know how much we were spending along the way. I appreciated the extra attention and was able to enjoy myself knowing everything was taken care of. The room was free because we booked on a Saturday afternoon, so when we paired that with the $50 gift certificate, we got a great deal at an extreme value. I would highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a great private party in a casual atmosphere! read more

Decent fish tacos. Salmon had some nasty sauce. Slow service. Place smells like cigarettes

I ordered the fajita nachos and the beef ones were very good but the chicken ones we had were awful. The chicken was old dried out cubes of overcooked cold chicken. The cook is either inexperienced or just doesn't care. You could tell by looking that the chicken was not fit to serve. read more

Terrible dining experience. We used to go to Flips all the time and we always had a blast. Not the case anymore. The food is still OK but the service is abysmal. We only went to Flips in the first place because Boomer Jacks was on a wait. Our server (Chris) barely acknowledged our existence - my 5 year old daughter ordered a Sprite and he brought her a water and ignored me when I very cordially told him he brought her a water instead of Sprite and he proceeded to bring her another cup full of. Water. So I had to tell him a 2nd time to bring her a Sprite. He didn't acknowledge again and just took the waters and threw them in the garbage. Several minutes later, he finally got it right. I had to ask to order and he never checked on us. It was the worst dining experience I've had in years. I felt dismissed and like we were more of an inconvenience than an opportunity to give good service. We got barely any service. It's not difficult to be kind and attentive. Just do the minimum to make customers feel welcome at your establishment. Extremely disappointed and we won't be going back. Which is a shame because it's a great venue. Do yourself a favor and travel across the parking lot and go to Boomer Jacks. They are FABULOUS. read more

With the need for a tasty burger, pulsating throughout my carnivorous body. I went to Flips. Flips is no flop. Well I admit the first time I went there was with a co-worker for lunch. I couldn't see a bloody thing it was so damn dark. Ended up getting a burger and fries somewhere around $8+. Thought not a bad place, should check it out after dark. Went back with more co-workers after work and hung out in the bar Good atmosphere. 3rd time was out on the patio, more co-workers. Will eventually go back. I think I might have to wait awhile cause the last thing I remember was shouting that we were leaving and going to Wilhoite's to see midgets. By the way, no midgets at Wilhoite's. read more

"Cheese curds" were undercooked blocks of cheddar. Bacon wrapped jalepenos were black and overdone. Prime burger was fine, nothing more and nothing less. Not very impressive considering it is supposed to be wagyu. Fries were underdone and soggy. The waitress was so indifferent that my husband finally asked if she was "okay". Underwhelming chain experience. Will not be back. read more

Flips Patio Grill - Undercooked fries, soggy with no seasoning - Burgers Near Me - Grapevine, Texas

Great sport bar atmosphere with ample seating inside and out. The food is presented well and if food quality. I have had the Reuben, the boneless wings and a blue burger, all of which were fantastic. read more

I was tremendously hesitant of eating here. And, my initial step into the restaurant didn't give me much hope of a change of opinion. No greeting. After standing at the entrance for a minute or so we wandered and found an opening at the bar, where we waited, and waited...... But eventually, a bartender got around to us. And some observation over the next hour or so proved out that the slow service wasn't due to the bartenders' lack of interest. They worked their butts off, they just didn't have enough help. So, we didn't get a LOT of face time, but when we did they were friendly, and helpful. And when it came time for the check, they did it correctly and promptly, so kudos for that. The food was just much much better than I expected. A swiss and mushroom burger with fries for myself and a 'spicy one' sandwich for my guest. The fries are 'homemade' style, with liberal seasonings and were freshly hot. The meat in my hamburger was cooked to order and was cooked correctly. Both meals were served timely and to the correct people. All in all, the food was just plain tasty. My biggest complaints are two: It was deathly smoky. The haze was visible. If smoke isn't your thing, then I'd suggest to avoid this place, as our hair and clothes reeked of it upon leaving. And okay, it is a bar, but you should be aware of that before you go if all you want is food. Secondly, and just as importantly, it was DARK. I mean, REALLY dark. We sat literally underneath one of the televisions and even with this light it required two cell phones put together to be able to read the menu. So, if a smoky meat-market type bar is where you're looking for meal, then Flips is your place..... Although, I really did like the stuffed Kodiak or Grizzly Bear that greets you right in the foyer. Pretty cool. read more

I really like Flips! Any place with a patio generally starts strong in my book. I like their fried pickles - they fry the slices (I went to one place in Denton that fries pickle spears... it's not the same). They also have good chips and salsa. Flips has good drink specials, and is one of the few places you can get a decent martini without losing a limb. I usually get their swiss avocado melt, with turkey. It comes with their homemade potato chips, which are very tasty. I also like their fries. Flips keeps the drinks coming, and the service is better than lots of other places. And the bathroom is usually clean! Hooray!! Flips is still best if it can be enjoyed outside on a nice day! read more

I can't ask for too much more from a Sports Bar. I was on a short weekend vacation in Texas and came to Flips to watch some college football. The drinks were incredibly cheap! Good beer selection an the price was great. Also got the Queso. Loved it! Being from California I have very little exposure to Queso but this was good! They didn't have all of the sports channels at the bar do we ended up going out on a hunt for another sports bar that could show a particular game my friend wanted to watch. But still I can hardly complain. Cheap beer, good Queso, lots of TV's? Yes please! read more

Should be called Smokes. The boyfriend and I live in Grapevine and drive past Flips every weekend. The horribly designed sign should have been a clear indication that we weren't going to like it, but don't judge a book by it's cover right? So we decided to finally try Flips one Saturday afternoon. Is this a dive bar or a family restaurant? I couldn't tell. On one side it was like 2am in the morning - people smoking it up, slowly drinking beer and hooting it up playing darts. On the other it was groups of soccer team families and older couples. Pretty confusing. As soon as we walked in we were hit in the face with a cloud of smoke and then walked into a large piece of taxidermy....a polar bear to be exact. I'm not sure that a bear has to do with Flips but ok? And for some reason our waitress sat us at a tiny table in the bar. Ummm no thanks. We asked to move and they were super nice about it...even telling us they don't like the smoke either. Interesting. So we then moved into the other side of the place away from the thick smoke and into depression city. Our waitress REALLY didn't want to be working. She kept rolling her eyes and going "ughhh" under her breath. So yeah, that made it really fun being there. We seriously wanted to just get up and leave but we stayed to make sure the food wasn't mindblowing. It wasn't. The typical bar food is here...nothing shocking. We got some fried pickles that had a "D Magazine" reco beside them on the menu....they were plain ol' friend picked slices no breaking news there. For lunch, I played it safe with a grilled santa fe chicken salad. It was really good and seemed fresh...I would order it again without the side of smoke. The boyfriend got the philly sandwich with the soggiest fries ever....he didn't have much to say about it so I'm thinking it was just an average meal for him too. Overall, Flips needs a major decor/inside redo. The food isn't worth driving across town for...but it's not horrible. We're probably never going back, but it was worth taking the risk and checking it our for ourselves. read more

A late night after-show gathering found me enjoying this great place for good times with my cast. In short, the atmosphere is nice. Plenty of plasma TVs for sports nuts, a large cozy booth for our big party, a fantastic cheeseburger I devoured with relish and fantastic service. There's an outdoor patio and fireplace as well. I'll be back! read more

THE SMOKE IS THICK FOLKS!!!!!!! I've gotten so used to going out in Dallas where I can eat and drink without the secondhand smoke impeading my lungs, but Tarrant County obviously hasn't gotten hip to this yet. And it's sad. Because I think if I didn't still smell the smoke in my hair, I'd be ok. I'm black, we have weaves, it just not as easy as washing and going. Getting smoke out of weave takes time, and I just get so down about it...... :( 2 thumbs up to the waitress who gave me the bar special one hour before it actually went on special!!! 2.50 for a mini burger, 2.00 for a basket of home fries, and 3.00 for chips, queso, and salsa. Burger was ok, but the fries WITH the queso ( i'm a fat kid at heart) was YUMMY!!!!!! 2.75 Coronas on Friday night had me feeling loverly!!! ANNNNNNNND............their bathrooms were nice:) Because walking in, I was kinda nervous about that....... I'll go back, when my hair is able to be washed immediately after my visit......you go and tell me how you like it!! read more

Stiiiiiiiinks like cigarettes. Or smells like a smoker's haven - your choice. The actual smoking section is within a glass walled area, but even after having hung out in the non smoking section, it was apparent that my clothes reeked. They were out of many of their seasonal beers, much to my friend's dismay but I think our upbeat server's attitude made up for it. Decent place to share some laughs and have a few drinks while catching up with friends. read more

Great food and service. Portions are definitely worth the price. Would definitely recommend. Laura was a fantastic waitress!!!

Food us great! Wish this place had friendlier bartenders. Drama driven. Never again!

Love the food, hate the smoke. The patio is one of the best in the area for outdoor seating and maybe a drink or two. However, inside is extremely smoky, to the point of making my wife gag. We had the typical caso and chips, but the salsa was very good. I had the blue cheese and bacon burger and my wife had the original burger. Both were very good. They seem to make their own buns, which were very tasty. Service was slow, but it was a Friday night. Seating is first come, first serve where you have to grab your own table when the last party gets up, which I don't like. The beer was good, with a decent selection. read more

As a former smoker I still don't understand smoking while eating, gross. I always wanted to be outside when smoking a cigarette but whatever, I guess Texas wants smokers to be able to eat and smoke. So if you like secondhand smoke in your face while eating at the bar, this is your place. To be fair they have separate areas that are non-smoking and I was able to watch an out-of-town game (Dodgers v Mets) and have a decent meal with some good beer. read more

Flip's patio grill serves strictly American food. Burger, salads, sandwiches. Nothing asian with a twist, no pasta, just straight-up American. I had their cheeseburger which was a nice solid plate of food. The burger was juicy and the fries were salty-goodness. I probably won't go back because nothing really excited me. But, if you want a good burger I'd recommend it. read more

Pro: good prices, the best stuffed jalapenos wrapped with bacon, super cool staff Cons: spotty wi-fi, temperamental wi-fi, bad wi-fi, sometimes horrible wi-fi, I'm surprised this review reached you...due to the wi-fi Dear Ownership: Seriously though, I do love this place and I guess I could be considered a regular. I don't want you to think I'm some passer-by that is super pissed at the data charges I incurred while hanging on the patio. I'm in marketing and we need a fun casual place to think, brainstorm, and work. Please up your bandwidth, I have reconnected 3 times so far while writing this review (so far). Dear Reader: There are a ton of places that have better wi-fi near if you're needing some good internet power. If you just need to connect your phone, to save a bit on data - you'll be ok overall. If you don't care about wi-fi whatsoever, you will have a great time! read more

If I could give them less than a star, I would. They are the most ignorant people I've ever come across. If you have a temporary ID that's issued by the government, don't bother showing them. In town on business, looking for a place to grab some lunch. Found this place to try for some burgers. Started off with some fried pickles, Cajun style! They were very good, I like how they sliced the pickles so it's not a whole wedge of hot pickle you're eating, but more like chips, I recommend maybe slicing them slightly thicker, they were a little too thin, so you almost didn't taste any pickle, mainly just the good batter. On to the burger, I got the 50/50, I'm sucker for any burger with a fried egg, it's a favorite of mine. Ordered it medium, came out very juicy and awesome flavor. I couln't finish it all, I left here trying to eat too much because it was all really good. And you can never go wrong with the fresh cut fries. Service here was awesome, and everyone was very friendly. Would love to come back if I have the time while I'm here in town. read more

Smoke fills the air! I'm amazed that restaurants still allow smoking in their dining room! From the moment you walk in this place, all you smell is smoke! I walked in and immediately left. If you feel like smelling like an ash tray, then this is the place for you. The supposed 'non-smoking' section still reads of smoke, stay away if you value clean smelling clothes and a pleasant dining experience. read more

Juicy delicious fresh ground burgers. Ordered medium rare burgers. Tried the Texan, mushroom and blue cheese and we were blown away at the quality of the meat and freshness of the toppings. Thus is the best burger out there. Onion rings and house chips great. Fresh cut fries were a bit soggy and oily though. They need to be cooked in hotter oil. read more

I had never heard of Flips until one of my friends suggested eating here for lunch. Me and a group of my friends came here for lunch and this place was not busy at all. The inside had a pretty modern atmosphere and there was also a large bar area. The waitress we had was kind and the service was extremely quick. I think we got our food order within 5 minutes or so. I ordered the Texan burger with fries and it was a really large burger. The beef patty was extremely tender and juicy, and complemented the cheddar cheese really well. The burger also had a lot of fried jalapeños and red onion strings, which were extremely crispy and thoroughly cooked. Another interesting thing was that the burger had jalapeños baked into the bun and the bun was super soft and square shaped. For the price you pay for a burger, I think Flips is a good value and definitely gives you a good amount of food for the price. Overall, if you are in the area and you are looking for a good place to eat lunch, I highly recommend trying Flips if you love burgers and traditional American food. read more

We went here for the drinks, and were pleasantly surprised by the awesome food! I'm normally not a big salad person, but I couldn't pass up their amazing salad with strawberries and dried fruit. The husband had a delicious burger and the fries were really good. I'm a vegetarian, and their veggie black bean burger is really delicious. I love the patio area and even the bar seating is great - lots of room and big booths, so you're never too packed in with other people. We were expecting a sort of noisy sports bar, but ended up finding a great casual dining place with a really good happy hour. read more

Had not ever heard of this restaurant before, but a client recommended that we meet there for lunch. Thus there were 3 of us for lunch. I had the Popcorn Chicken Salad and it was delicious. One of my clients had the regular cheeseburger and she raved about it. She said the bun was made fresh at the restaurant. The other client had the Ruben Sandwich and she said it was awesome. The service was great. The only issue I had with the experience as a whole was the restaurant was hard to find. If you are not really familiar with the area, it can be tricky and a bit stressful locating the building. There are too many highways going in different directions. Other than that, my experience was great. read more
