The interior renovation was a full-blown "down to the studs" project, that included opening up a load-bearing wall and the structural changes needed to accommodate that change. Also, included was opening up an existing doorway to install sliders to the deck. The new kitchen and half bath included all new plumbing; electrical wiring, fixtures and lighting; HVAC ducts: porcelain tile flooring; granite counter tops and the installation of new kitchen cabinets and appliances and a bathroom vanity. The backyard deck was built with Timbertech decking and Veranda composite railing. I'm very happy with the way the project turned out. Dave and his guys, Javier and Dennis, did an outstanding job. The guys working on the job are skilled, focused and courteous. They are very careful not to disrupt the remainder of the household beyond their work area. They arrive promptly, communicate well throughout the project and clean up everyday. They repect your home as they would their own. Javier is especially attentive to detail, conscientious, and very talented. I love the way the kitchen, bathroom and deck look, but maybe more important are the structural improvements Dave made to my almost 90 year-old house along the way. One of the main reasons I decided to contract with Dave was that during our first walk-through at my home he noticed that my floor was sagging between my kitchen and dining room. He immediately went down to the basement, pointed out a cracked floor joist and said this is where we need to start. None of the other contractors I was interviewing noticed or took the time to point that out. There is a Lally column and a repaired joist in place in the basement now that makes me feel good about my choice. We also encountered a similar problem as we opened the kitchen ceiling and found damaged floor joists on the second floor of my house. Again, Dave knew what had to be done. He added additional cross-hatched framing to the existing floor joists to provide the needed structural integrity. So, yes, my new kitchen, deck and bathroom are beautiful to look at, but behind the walls, my home is better then ever and that's a good feeling.

Abe from Lifta came out and gave an honest assessment of my garage floor fix and proposed many options and color schemes to fit my requirements. He promptly gave me a quote the next day scheduled start date on the same week. The Lifta Epoxy Flooring team arrived on time and with proper face coverings and started work on the floor. They properly prepare the floor which requires a complete sanding of the surface and repairing cracks before you can start applying layers. While his team worked he displayed real examples of all the endless textures and colors that can be applied. I took the silver base with gray swirls and metallic sparkles. The job took a total of three days (part-time) as each layer of coating (Adhesion, base, swirl, clear coat layer) needs ample time to dry and cure. In the end, the epoxy flooring looks amazing and I'm so happy with this work knowing it's also going to be a great investment into the value of my property.

Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches.
