Took a wedding dress there many years ago for alterations ...with a protective wedding dress "cover" that is used to preserve the quality of the dress. When I asked for the cover... once I picked up my dress... they were extremely nasty/rude and did not even offer to look around the shop or call me back. I was asked to still pay full price for the alterations even though I was not given the protective cover. No type of accommodation given to me whatsoever even though I walked out of there without the expensive fabric cover. Never went back although I drive by it all the time. read more

I must begin by saying that I have one of the most extensive wardrobes in mens clothing including suits by Isaia ($4,500) and a collection of dress shirts known as "fancies" by Bresciani. My wardrobe is an important part of my professional image and it is an investment to me. As such, when it comes to the care and cleaning of my clothes, I can't afford to settle for anything but the best. I was referred to Jack (the owner) by Charlie Daniels who had one of the finest mens clothing boutiques in all of North Jersey for over 30 years. Chas D. assured me that no other place in the area could do dry cleaning and also custom tailoring better than J&P Dry Cleaning. Sure enough, Chas D. was 100% correct in his recommendation. The collars on a few of my fancy shirts became discolored when I let them sit in the back of the closet for too long. Part of the white collars had taken on a yellowish tint. I thought they were headed for the garbage!!! I took them to J&P Dry Cleaning and I was pleasantly surprised that my treasured shirts (which are now hard to replace) looked like brand new. All the laundered shirts are returned with plastic stay collars and tabs on the French cuffs. I don't know of any other dry cleaners who does this. My suits are always returned with forming paper inside the sleeves so the arms of my suits jacket maintain their shape without a single crease or wrinkle anywhere. It gets even better, they do expert tailoring and can reweave a rip or tear in any piece of clothing with a technique that they use so that the pattern of the clothes remains perfect and undetectable where the repair was done. Regarding prices, you get what you pay for!!! Who can ask for more than that. J&P is neither the cheapest or the most expensive dry cleaners. However, with all the meticulous care they take of your clothes and everything is perfect when returned, you get the best bang for your buck with this place. If you want bargain basement, drive down Route 21 into Newark, there are some $1.99 places down around there. But beware, someone told me they add on for everything including 75 cents extra to fold a sweater. None of that nonsense at J&P...top quality service at a fair and reasonable price. I laugh at some of the other reviews that give this place 2 stars because that reviewer doesn't know that the marking for alterations is usually not done by the same person. The cuffs on my pants have always been perfect down to the fraction of an inch!!! The person who does the measuring needs to know how the pant leg breaks to mark up the alterations for the person who does the tailoring. These guys get it right every time!!! That's the reason he did all the alterations for Charlie Daniels' boutique for over 25 years. read more

Even though the workers/owner are friendly and the price is reasonable I had the impression that under no circumstance I was going to be able to get my work redone. Even though I was trying to express my opinion on the service and how I wanted and needed it done he insisted that the it was correct the way it was done. Five stars!! Oh yes, I've never been happier with my dry cleaning. I had dropped off a few pieces of clothing before and was satisfied with their service but this time around, I needed my down comforter cleaned. My attempt to have breakfast in bed failed miserably when I spilled orange juice on my down. With school, work, in life in general, I neglected my down and put it aside for about 4 months before I dropped it off at JP. JP saved the day and managed to get the stain out without ruining my down. I picked up only a few days later and it was conveniently in a comfortable bag for easy pick-up. I paid about $20, evidence their prices are fair. What I love most of JP is how friendly they are and the cleanliness of their establishment. For example, when I was flooded by Sandy all my clothes were a mess, Jackie rushed to my place with his truck took all the sopping wet clothes, and asked what else he could do. I spent 125.00 to get my dress taken out and the front shortened and the train kept. (I wanted a trendy high low dress). I wasn't asked to try on the dress. He pinned the dress when I him how short I wanted it. The party is on Saturday the dress is uneven and I paid $125.00. I want my money back but that doesn't take away from the aggravation I will have to go through when I go there. I am so sick. This is super upsetting. Don't go there and get anything tailored. This is my go to Dry Cleaner. I bounced around to a few places but none seem to work out like J P! I was recommended here by the uniform store down the street to make an alteration to my job shirt. I was simply adding the American flag to a uniform, and they did me the favor for free. After that I felt it was only right to give them a shot at my dry cleaning.
