A family member was hired there and they were effusive about her hiring, her experience and customer service style. Within only a week or so however they started imposing new requirements that were NOT mentioned in the hiring process -- that if you did not SELL 10 VIP membership each shift you would have your hours docked. I believe this illegal on several fronts. But on top of that they were inappropriate, cruel and likely also illegal in their public and private treatment of employee. Hung out for another 10 minutes. Still closed. (It's October 13th, "Columbus Day" and all the other stores in the shopping center are open.) They have some nice looking shoes in there. My GF was raving about the shoe selection and how great and knowledgeable the employees were in fitting sport shoes. When I walked in and started looking around there were no other customers (When I left it was getting busy.). A woman who looked pretty young came out and asked if I needed help. I instantly "kinda" mentally wrote her off as the employee who drew the short straw and got "Saturday" duty and probably knew nothing about shoes. Mea culpa:). Well... I was wrong! She ended up being one of the best persons I have talked to about walking and/or running shoes! She first measured my feet and we went from there. Honestly I did not know that much about the comfort level of a high end sport shoe until that day. What a difference in feel versus my Costco tennies!:) I must have tried on 10 pair of shoes. My…read moremom is a fragile, diabetic and geriatric, and I noticed that she had really worn through the shoes so while shopping in Folsom, I spotted a fleet feet on my map And told her I was buying her a new pair of the shoes they fit her for earlier this year, the neuropathy and her feet is pretty bad. I told my mom I'd have them look up her measurements and we would get the same shoes we got before. This was the first fleet feet. I've been in that had more employees than customers, but after my experience, I completely understand. I went in and I ask a gentleman in a navy sweatshirt. I believe his name was Justin, but I was so upset when I left. I'm not quite sure if his name was Justin. He was a young kid under 25 with a navy shirt on. I ask him if he would look up my mother's account by her phone number. He said they only do email but he would try the name we went back-and-forth a lot. We tried my name, etc. I finally said let me go out to the car and get my mom's email address as she was waiting in the car for the shoes before I could do so the gentleman says to me that the computers between the fleet fees are not linked so it wouldn't matter unless I bought the shoes there which I found odd because I've gone to other fleet feet and they've been able to find my account so I could get the exact model of shoe that I had purchased before At this point, Mr. Navy man was finding this pretty freaking amusing and I was not. Not only was the selection weak, but I was never approached by an employee for assistance, including in other departments. Plus the store seems small and jumbled in display. For example, the bike department seems blended with the snow board equipment. I left without buying anything and feeling indifferent about ever returning. Lastly, although the store carries name brand products, it is full price and can be found elsewhere for less. The only exception on pricing is their own branded products, but that often means buying something that has the REI logo blazing through the look of the item.
