Flight Club is a rather interesting concept, with "social bowling", it feels like an adult bowling alley, it is located in a grand building on King Street in the city centre and offers a selection of food, mainly pizzas/burgers/fries, designed for sharing.
I did find the food to be overpriced, but with portions mainly sharing plates and sliders, if you come in with a few friends, it becomes a little more reasonable.
Due to the concept of the place, I would say this isn't a place you'd want to come in to grab some lunch or for a sit-down meal, sure grab a bite or a drink alongside making use of the facilities, but without that, it isn't really worth it.
The staff are friendly and had good knowledge regarding allergies, including cross-contamination procedures and items that can and can not be made gluten-free, my waitress mentioned she had been awake since the early hours of the morning (I had not even been to sleep by the time she had woken up!), and seemed pretty sharp, only making a few minor errors (She did originally charge me for the wrong drink, but fixed this straight away).
For my food, I ordered the "Pepperoni Pizza with red pepper relish" on a gluten-free base, I didn't have high expectations, but the pizza was pretty good, the base was thin, and I really liked the red pepper relish, it had a slight kick to it, and was an original, innovative concept that really went with the pizza.
The fries were okay, but if you're going to spend £7.95 on fries, you just expect better. Again, most portions are for two people so if you're attending solo or you want to try different things compared to your guest, you're out of luck.
I ordered a cocktail which was the most similar thing to a Long Island Ice Tea I could find, I wasn't too impressed, it seemed rather small and was more sweet and colourful than high-quality alcohol.
3* - OK, I probably wouldn't come back here, but I wouldn't advise against it as they do offer a unique experience within the city centre. read more
