Don't buy anything aged here. I bought a case of wine that was bad and they wouldn't stand behind their product.

This was a spontaneous stop. I was trying to go into the souvenir shop next door but when I…read moreapproached it, a sign said to enter through Uncork It. So obviously I did. Of course I got distracted and browsed the store. There was souvenirs in this store as well, which I was not expecting. I wound up picking up winter gloves because I forgot mine at home. I then discovered a clearance cart that had a variety of boozes in there. I was super excited to find Malort! I found a unique cocktail recipe years ago that had Malort in it but was never able to find it in FL. Little did I know, it is very well known in Chicago! Obviously I purchased a little 6 pack. I browsed the aisles somewhat but did not find anything that caught my eye. I also did not want to purchase a bunch of bottles to walk with a couple of blocks. As I was waiting for the person in front of me to finish, the employee asked the customer to please step ahead so I could put my items down. He was already done and taking his time doing something else so I felt that was thoughtful of him to do for me. They were very polite and quick. The process seemed reasonable for the most part but the souvenirs were overpriced. The store was clean and tidy as well.

Walked in, and walked right out. Asked the lady, where can i find her whisky aisle and she…read moreimmediately gave me attitude, responded rudely stating theres so many (I think I know that, I wanted to see the options) I looked over and saw the whiskey sign down an aisle and said nevermind we found it thank u. I thought it was just me reading her wrong when my husband said why should we buy something here when they're so rude. I agreed and walked right out.

They mostly sell wine…read morehowever they do have a decent selection of spirits, a tad over priced considering the location to other liquor stores in the area. However, as for wine and or champagne that have some good hidden gems. If anything, stop by for the wine tasting you might find a new favorite like I did.

This is a hidden in plain sight gem in the South Loop. I have probably walked by dozens, if not…read morehundreds of times. It was by happenstance, through an email from Whiskey Magazine about their favorite spots in Chicago, that I found out about Warehouse Liquors. For the uninitiated, the Warehouse Liquors web site is the best place to start, as it features a comprehensive schedule of in-store tastings. Weekly tastings are from 5pm-7pm Thursdays (whiskey and beer) and 5pm-7pm Fridays (wine). The storefront is deceptively small, as it features a vast selection of spirits and wines, including a cooler at the back of the store and a curated assortment of food (snacks). I came here for a wine tasting on Friday in early spring (better late than never with this review) and now feel remiss that I have not been back here more often. It was a perfect date night activity and kickoff to the weekend. Now that cooler temperatures are here, I look forward to returning to sample some of the whiskeys and scotches and making some considered purchases. The personalization and the fact that this is a locally owned business sets Warehouse Liquors apart from the rest.

Bai jiu! This Chinese liquor store specializes in Chinese…read moreliquors- derp! This place has Baijiu, a potent Chinese alcohol that I've heard tastes fairly bad, but is one of the world's most popular liquors by the numbers. Even though most people haven't heard of it, it gets drank in huge quantities. I came in here from Texas, where I have searched high and low for this liquor. It can't be found there. I couldn't anyhow. In here, they had a selection of maybe 30 different kinds of baijiu in different price points. I admitted to the clerk that I had no idea what I was doing, but wanted something good for beginners. He came around and gave me a bottle of the cheaper end stuff that's 52% alcohol. Score. I haven't tried it yet. I saw that he also had a wide selection of Chinese wines and a bit of beer. I've heard that most of the restaurants in this Chinese plaza are BYOB, so this is a good place if you wanna add to the authenticity of the beverages of the restaurants you're dining in, this place is clutch. I can't wait to try this baijiu.

I only went inside to escape the light rain, but I ended up having the nicest experience with the two owners, a sweet older couple. They immediately made me feel welcome, chatting with me, giving me suggestions on places to check out in the city, and just radiating kindness. By the time I was ready to leave, it was pouring outside. They offered me a plastic bag to protect my things and encouraged me to stay until the rain slowed down. It was such a small gesture, but it really left an impression. While I was there I also noticed how warmly they greeted every customer who came in, and people were genuinely happy to stop by. This was such a memorable and heartwarming first impression of Chicago. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by this shop to say hello to the wonderful owners. They truly make their customers feel cared for.
