When the owner mentioned it, I was very disappointed, but once we were there, I was so happy with the opportunity. With any B&B, you're staying in the main house, having idle chit chat with other guests, and sometimes hear people in other rooms. The cabin, you have none of this, just perfect tranquility, silence, and isolation. The owners stocked up the fridge for us and we can have breakfast in our own cabin. It was more of a continental breakfast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, etc..., but it was so pleasant. The cabin is located about 500 feet from the main house and several miles from the main road, and about 8 miles from downtown Traverse City. You really get in the woods feeling without being to far from the city and you have a river flowing through your backyard. It is a really nice place and I would gladly stay there again.

There are even great places like Rare Bird Brewpub literally around the corner. The B&B itself is really charming and homey. Breakfast itself was a highlight, particularly the perfect balance of healthy & delicious that the innkeeper is able to strike. If you really want to spend time in town, Oviatt House is one of Traverse City's best options.

All of these factors helped make our stay an amazing experience, as well as their advice on where to go and what to see in the area. The Inn itself is a large converted farmhouse on an organic cherry farm just north of Traverse City. it does sit next to a highway so there was some significant road noise at times. However it is still an idyllic peaceful property with many places to sit and contemplate nature.

The large wraparound porch was the highlight for us! Even though there had been quite a bit of rain, we were able to spend some time outside overlooking the cherry trees and we were able to see one of the most beautiful sunsets of our lives. The wide open fields that surround the property were a much-needed respite from city life. The home is cozy and historic feeling while somehow also seeming updated in many ways. Our room was well appointed and extremely clean. We stayed in the Kesner room with a slight view of the bay. Breakfast was delicious and somewhat unexpectedly posh, as Eric prepared an egg scramble over asparagus with a breakfast caprese salad, as well as a fruit & ginger smoothie. We enjoyed meeting other guests at the table as well. Misty & Eric also provided complimentary refreshments to guests, which was a nice touch to an already lovely stay. I was initially concerned that it wasn't close enough to Traverse City for our visit to the cherry festival, but it was a quick drive into town and I would absolutely stay at Country Hermitage again. Overall, I can't say enough great things about Country Hermitage and our hosts. Highly recommend.

Lake N' Pines Lodge was the choice after hours spent looking at spots to stay near Traverse City…read more My girlfriend has a great track record picking good places, and she did not disappoint this time. We were welcomed to LNP by the couple who own the small lodge. We stayed on the second floor of the guest house, with a deck looking out onto the water. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a calming, woodsy decor, and a lot of thought put into the details. The owners had left us a couple sodas in the fridge, and lots of nice soaps and stuff in the bathroom. They invited us to canoe on the lake, but I really wanted a nap after the drive in from Chicago, and my girlfriend found the hundreds of channels on TV. We filled out a menu card, and breakfast was brought up to our room in the morning. It was a really treat, and for guests like us who would rather eat a private breakfast, the best accommodation a B&B could make. The location was super close to Traverse City and the National Park, but also set off plenty, on back roads. Interlochen reminded me of the north woods of Wisconsin, and is home to a major NPR station. The stay at Lake N' Pines Lodge really put me at ease.

Since we wouldn't be getting in until close to midnight, we pre-arranged our check-in and had a cute welcome letter and breakfast card waiting at our arrival. This was our first B&B experience and it was the little touches that will have us coming back. There were complimentary bottles of water and soda in the fridge. The kitchen had several amenities such as: pots, pans, utensils, and even spices. So if you wanted to, you could prepare all your meals on site. We were here for a wedding, so we did not utilize this feature, but worth noting. Room service was complimentary every morning and the options for breakfast were expansive and delicious. I had the blueberry pancakes the first morning and eggs, bagel, and sweet potatoes the next. Both were served with Coffee and OJ and seriously good! The room itself was the perfect size for two people, but had a hideaway bed, that could sleep two additional people. The decor was what you would expect of a northern Michigan fish town, log furniture and a touch of kitsch. Outside, we had our own mini-deck, table and chairs.There was a decent sized flatscreen in our room with over 100 channels a DVD player. We just channel surfed in between our trip excursions, but they even had a new selection of movies in the main house that could be borrowed. The location is what really cemented our appreciation for this place. It is far enough off the beaten trail that nature overtakes the sound of motorists. There is an on-sight dock with complimentary boats, kayaks, and canoes that can be taken out. It is absolutely beautiful. Here you are halfway between Benzonia and Traverse City, which we found particular ideal. My only gripe was that the bedding and towels were both musty upon arrival. I am sure that our hosts would have taken care of it right away had we said something, but we were exhausted and it wasn't worth the hassle. This aside, it was still a great and hospitable place to stay. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Chris and Stephanie was so awesome from day 1, to help us organize the whole thing till the last minute. You can tell they really care about their business and people they serve to. Don't go anywhere to arrange flowers or anything, Stephanie does an amazing job and she has a great taste. I seriously couldn't ask for a better wedding and better people to work with. The venue is gorgeous, we had a small wedding and that's why we used the Woodside Chapel tent area. They took care of the garden so well, it was very green and beautiful. Perfect affordable and private activity for kids. They make sure to point out wildlife they see in the forest and drive by the farms next to the cows. So so fun.
