It was small and basic but had everything we needed. Towels were actually fluffy! The pool was an excellent bonus. Seriously though, the cabin was so spotless I think they must have done updates recently. And the location was convenient to a few places to eat and an easy drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes. Each cabin is well-maintained, offering cozy interiors that perfectly complement the serene natural surroundings. The resort's attention to detail is evident, with clean and comfortable accommodations that provide a genuine sense of relaxation. The communal areas, including the indoor pool/spa, playground, and fire pits make for a perfect family getaway. However, it's worth noting a few aspects that potential visitors might want to consider. The owners are quite vigilant, with surveillance cameras placed throughout the property. While this does contribute to a sense of security, it feels intrusive, particularly if you're looking for a more laid-back and private getaway. The owners make it no secret they actively watch the cameras and will provide real-time feedback of guest's activities. The owners also have extreme cleaning requirements for checkout. If you do not meet these requirements they will send you a followup email containing details and pictures of your transgressions. For example, there is an unwritten expectation to clean the toilet before leaving even though a toilet brush is not provided. I have never encountered such expectations at other resorts, vacation rentals, or hotels. Additionally, the owners have a clear preference for individual cabin rentals. Large groups and children are discouraged, which might be a consideration if you're planning a family vacation, reunion, or a group trip. This focus on maintaining a serene environment may not suit everyone's vacation plans. However, if you're a retiree looking to go fishing or kayaking this is your place. This was our second summer at the resort and will be our last. Our family group rented 6 cabins, some traveling from out of state. Our group ranged from grandparents to young kids. We are a fairly quiet group that doesn't "party", nor do we stay up late. We did our best to stay out of other guests way and share the communal areas. The owners made us feel like a bother and unwelcome during our stay. We cleaned up after ourselves and cleaned the cabins before we left. Even still, we received emails after our stay indicating toilets were not cleaned and a couple of crumbs were left on a counter. While I can appreciate the owners' high standards for cleaning and grounds maintenance, they do not have enough staff to maintain those standards and instead push the responsibility onto their guests. Overall, Betsie Riverside Resort is a lovely destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in well-kept surroundings. Just be mindful of the owners' preferences, expectations, and the presence of active security camera monitoring if you're looking for a more relaxed and private experience.

They had toilet paper,…read morepaper towels, towels, washer & dryer, dishsoap, dish sponge, full kitchen, tubberware, pots, pans, plates, cups, even some seasoning (salt, pepper,sugar,etc), beach bags, grill, charcoal, and the list goes on. The house it self was huge and beautiful. They really made this place look like a real HOME, not just a rental. There's 3 floors, although, we didn't really stay on the first floor. The kids went down to play the fuse ball table a few times and that was it. But the 2nd floor, which is the main floor is where everything is. Kitchen, living room, full bath, big patio that wraps around the whole living room. And that leads out to the backyard. Which leads to the Bon fire. The 3rd floor was the two separate rooms, which one had a bunk bed in, that room was big. And a full bath there. The only thing I didn't like was the towels, face towels, and hand towels. These could be replace because all the towels was so very rough, hard, and even crusty. I couldn't even wipe my hands. So, bring your own. Other than that this place was amazing! Will definitely recommend and be going back!!!! Can't wait for next summer!!

    Your response to my and my families negative review of your company is silly (and, hopefully, for…read moremost of you potential renters out there, completely transparent).  While there is some fact weaved into your narrative (and, also some gross misinformation), the vast majority is misleading "spin" in what we assume is an attempt to give the impression that Northern Rental Management actually cares about and values the vacation rental contracts that you enter into.  What is 100% true is that YOU made the mistake and that we, the Cote family, are doing our best to let other potential customers (and interested business protection agencies) know how you handled this situation and left a family high and dry for their 4th of July family holiday.  Calling your office and emergency number in an attempt to reach a responsible party because I hadn't actually spoken with anyone after receiving your cancelation email (never once called and hung up on anyone) is called a frantic family trying desperately to salvage the only vacation that they get throughout the year, not harassment as you referred to it.  Leaving reviews and filing a formal complaint with Home Away was our only recourse to inform the general public of our experience with your company and was only done so after it was clear that you were not willing to do anything to help us.  For purposes of factual clarity, I entered into this contract with the Owner of the property on Home Away and had several personal (and pleasant) communications with him prior to learning about Northern Rental Management taking over our contract.  When I was contacted by Northern Rental Management last Friday (one week before our vacation), it was under the guise of being asked confirm my email so that you could send me your separate rental agreement before we arrived the following week (as a mere formality). Instead of receiving a rental contract in response to that conversation, I received an email that stated that Northern Rental Management had accidentally double-booked the property, was cancelling our reservation and issuing a refund.  In response, we stated that was unacceptable and we should either be rented the property or Northern Rental Management should provide another property with at least the same amenities (namely, a private beach) at no extra cost to our family.  The only available property in the area with private beach was, of course, more expensive (there is NO inventory the week before 4th of July) and we were asking that Northern Rental Management make up the difference in cost (NOT cover the entire property)--that difference was approximately $2700.  This is a fair resolution in our view, as we would have forfeited our entire $2200 if we had cancelled in the same manner that Northern Rental Management did (and, quite frankly, we would have strongly preferred to stay in the original property that was near the rest of our family in the area, including our parents, who were also directly impacted by this mistake and lack of resolution).  At the end of the day, Home Away, Northern Rental Management, and the owner all made money on this mistake, while our family was left with nothing but a half-hearted sorry and a ruined family vacation.  Even the owner of the property was appalled and recently informed me that they were parting ways with Northern Rental Management. All of our attempted communications with you, the vast majority of which have gone unanswered, have been calm and civil. Your lack of sympathy for our situation-- and willingness to spend more time and energy on falsely disparaging our family and attempting to undermine our efforts to inform potential, future customers of our situation (which is entirely the point of online review), than you have on helping the family that you admit you wronged by your mistakes-- is sad and disheartening.  All of this could have been avoided if you were willing to take responsibility for your mistakes and do the RIGHT thing.

I explained that we are flying from Arizona to Michigan for this vacation so we have airfare, time off work, time off school etc for 7 people. A few days later I received a very generic email stating the property we booked was no longer available. They suggested another property (same town but very different walkability, different bathroom count, different setup). Had I cancelled this late in the game I would have been responsible for 50% payment (mind you I had already paid in full). There was zero concession offered, zero apology, zero kindness. To add insult to the situation, I still receive automated texts regarding my upcoming arrival. So I had to scramble to find another place (with less than 30 days) and pay that in full while awaiting a refund on my first booking. Epic failure in customer service.

She was a breath of fresh air. She was extremely honest with me and she earned my trust early on. When I finally found a home I liked, she was so calm, cool and collected in dealing with the difficult sellers that it was amazing. I'm sure I was no picnic to deal with either because I wanted the best house I could get for as little money as I could, so she really, really went to bat for me. Cindy made all the difference to me because I was at the point to where I was just going to quit looking. Now my family has the greatest vacation home ever and we owe it all to her. I have stay at other places in the area and this is where I found my comfort. The restaurant downstairs is very consistent. I have had everything on the menu. Every thing was served hot, and fresh, again very impressed with my stay at the Cold Creek Inn. On a more recent visit my family did some shopping at that nice little town. We ate at the Cold Creek, the perch and lasagna were amazing. Service was professional and friendly, I left a bag at the table from the shopping we have done. We already left town. I called the Creek to see if it was found, without hesitation,Zee the owner said she will have it in the mail for me. This is how a establishment operates around excellence.
