Absolutely amazing staff! When there was a mixup with our room, the two women behind the desk went over and above in their attempt to help resolve in a way to keep these two old and fussy people happy. And they did it with a smile. Better yet, when my husband mentioned the snowy path between our room and the hot tub, they immediately had someone out there and shove it for us. Very overpriced for what it is and overall a let down, based on all the great reviews. This whole place is really about the location. Perfectly situated on a gorgeous white sand beach on Lake Michigan. Being steps away from the sand was fantastic, but that was kind of it. Even in the winter, this is a lovely place to stay. The rooms are simple, tastefully decorated, and comfortable. Situated right on Lake Michigan and at the helm of Main Street, it's a perfect home base. The lovely staff is what made the stay. We were arriving late due to the weather (the front desk closes at 11 pm), so I called ahead. The night receptionist told us not to rush, that she would leave our keys and a map to our room if we ran past 11. Then our work took us past the 11 am check out time, but no problem. The morning receptionist kindly allowed us to check out an hour later at no additional charge. They were both friendly and helpful. Looking forward to our next stay! read more

You'll be hard pressed to ever top this location. Right on Lake Michigan with incredible sunsets. Check-in was friendly and quick. The top floor end unit was a near perfect choice. West wall was all windows overlooking the lake. Short walk to the beach. We enjoyed watching the locals make their seemingly daily trek to slowly drive through the parking lot as if they were looking to make sure their lake and lighthouse were still there. That's not to say the unit didn't have some quirks. It was a two bedroom with the second bedroom available to also be used as a one bed lockout. Resulting in that optional lockout having a door to the outside. Bathrooms (and more specifically toilets) are quite small. The lockout bedroom also has its own HVAC not connected to the rest of the unit. The unit has been well maintained with a few exceptions. The two chairs in the living room area both showed serious signs of wear exposing the padding under the upholstery. We also found that both beds had older mattresses in need of replacement. Frankfort is a lovely town. Tree lined streets with well maintained victorian style homes. Were the dining options as special as Harbor Lights Resort or the community, it would be easy to say that we'll be back next year. The lack of good dining makes that choice a bit more difficult. read more

This place is phenomenal! We stayed here a couple of years ago and just returned last night. It's so clean and neat. My daughter enjoyed swimming in the in-door pool last night that felt so clean and well kept. The room was nice and bed was comfortable. This was a wonderful place to stay. The location couldn't be better, as it is just steps from Lake Michigan and downtown Frankfort is only a couple blocks away- easily walkable in warmer months. The room was clean as can be and convenient. Staff was very friendly. Pool was great. There was a nice little room just outside the pool that had a TV/Sitting area and a fully stocked board game cabinet. Although there was no breakfast included, there was coffee and donuts in the lobby. Would definitely stay again. Great experience. read more

This is our fourth time staying here and we have never been disappointed. The rooms are large, clean and homey. The full sized kitchens are clean and well appointed. The cleaning staff is thorough and accommodating. The resort is quiet, well maintained and places you right on the beach with great swimming and beautiful sunset views. We have not found a better value or place to stay when visiting our favorite area in Michigan. read more

Great find after a long day at Sleeping Bear Dunes and state park. Family run business right on Lake Michigan next to the marina at the end of Main Street. Kids loved the pool/hot tub and complimentary doughnuts from incredible Crescent Bakery in town. Morning walk on the pier...highly recommend this place to stay. read more

I stayed here last night and paid $140. The problem started with the remote for the TV not working. They sent a guy to fix it and the guy was nice and fixed it but the new one quit working an hour later. I thought well I guess I'll just go for a swim in the pool. The problem with that is, they have unattached buildings and they put me as far away from the pool as you can get. I would have had to walk a block to the pool in the dark and cold or drive there. Great location, immaculate housekeeping (really immaculate!), well equipped kitchen. We were here in the off-season, so it was also very quiet and private. We could walk to dinner uptown or to the beach. If you are really on a budget, the kitchen is perfect: good enough to REALLY cook in, not just heat stuff up. Comfy beds and bed linens, great towels, everything seems brand new. We used to stay in TC but will choose this place in the future as it is closer to the national park with less traffic and still offers proximity to restaurants, groceries, etc. It got a little crowded at the weekend: many units are densely packed into a small space and there was a lot of partying. read more

Just left from 5 days in one of the motel rooms. The staff was very friendly. Actually, everyone in this area was very friendly. The room we stayed in was clean, and the beds were comfortable & he room was big enough for our family of 5 (kids 9, 4 & 10 months). Donuts for breakfast daily, plus coffee & tea. The resort is steps away from the beach which was beautiful. The lighthouse & sea walls were fun to watch while on the beach. A local told us about the ladders on the side of the sea wall where people jump into the lake, although we didn't get a chance. The beach is very clean & not overcrowded. The sunset is out of this world- it rivals those in Key West. While we loved the beach at the resort, we also visited Crystal Lake, Mouth of the Platte River (where it meets Lake Michigan) & Torch Lake (find the sandbar, well worth the drive). And we spent a day in Sleeping Bear, climbing the sand dunes & driving the scenic drive. The resort is a very short walk to a nice, quiet downtown area. We will definitely be back again! read more

Lovely place, right on Lake Michigan! Staff are very friendly & helpful, the rooms are VERY clean ( no bugs! See my review on Econo lodge), the bed was comfortable, & the linens were nice.... Are you getting the picture? A VERY NICE PLACE! You can walk to the beach, to one of the restaurants or bars in Frankfort, or take a short drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes, to name a few things... Oh & btw, if you find yourself in the area, a trip tubing or kayaking down the Lower Platt River is beautiful, & well worth it! read more

We visited the area for snow shoeing and chose Harbor Lights. We thought the room was very clean, spacious, and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable, the fireplace was cozy, and the view was great. It was a very short walk to the Stormcloud Brewing Co., as well as other restaurants. I imagine its more crowded in the summer, but it was very quiet here. Will definitely return! read more

Great place to stay! Nice rooms, nothing too fancy but great location. Right on Lake Michigan and walking distance to a small downtown area for restaurants, shopping, ice cream, a playground, etc. They offer donuts and coffee in the lobby in the morning. Great location!! The rooms are very basic but clean. Each room has a flat screen, a hair dryer and even mini fridge and microwave. Resort even has a pool! It's located adjacent to the beach and is in walking distance of the downtown. read more
