Bay Port Lodging was honestly a lot nicer than I expected! I'm not typically one to stay at a drive up motel but this was pretty decent. We booked just a couple weeks before Memorial Day weekend for just one night and we felt the price was fair, especially to split between 2 people. There was 2 full size beds, a tv, a mini fridge, and a couple other things available. Clean towels and clean bathroom. They also had a table and chairs right outside the door for some outdoor patio seating. I couldn't find any way to control the air conditioning, if the room even had any?, but we felt cool throughout the night anyways and slept well. Of course it's a little older but that's what you're gonna get in a small up north beach town. It got the job done for what we needed. It was within walking distance to town and we did not have any trouble parking on the property, right in front of our room. The women at the front desk was friendly when we checked in and provided us with the Wi-Fi password. The only real disturbance was a man parked next to us dumping opened cans of beer from his car, right next to our car and feet at 8am when we were leaving.. classy lol read more

We had to cancel a reservation at this place. Called and were told that we would be charged a 15% cancellation fee. when asked for a confirming email the person we were talking to said she did not handle the financial part of the business but would forward to the person who does. After several telephone calls and emails we still have not received the credit to the account for the agreed-to refund. We continually are told ( from the person that answers the phone) that we can not talk to the finance person to get any explanation. This business needs to show some credibility and ethics to customers. read more

Horrible connection. Both phone numbers don't work, 231-352-4442 and the Expedia given number is crap (231-399-0156). Never order this hotel on Expedia. They steal your money. No refund. And at $365.46 it is a rip-off. I can't even contact the hotel to talk with them. There is no recourse short of small claims court. And most people won't both with that. So they get away with it. This is the last time I ever use Expedia, or stay at this lodge again. read more

This is a cute little motel near downtown Frankfort (within a 5-10 minute walk to the Main Street). It's a throwback, very "mom and pop" which gives it charm. The room was clean and comfortable. The rooms are adjacent to one another, which means it's relatively easy to hear what's happening in the next room. It's quite affordable and the owners have really tried to make the whole complex look cute and spring/summer-like. The one challenge for me was that there are lights right outside each of the rooms (not porch-type lights, but courtyard lights not controlled from in the rooms), and they blinds definitely do not block much of the light. Neither myself, my hubs, nor my daughter had a decent night's sleep. We even were brainstorming in the middle of the night to try and figure out how we might hang up a blanket or something. In fact, I thought it must be morning time because of the light in the room...turned out it was only 2 AM, but the amount of light coming in made it seem like morning. My boyfriend and I got the idea to visit Frankfort in July 2013 earlier that year...much earlier...like January. So of course, I book the hotel IMMEDIATELY just to make sure that we don't run into any problems since we had planned to travel during peak season. Sure enough...around a week later, we had to push back our vacation a couple of weeks thanks to work. I called Luann to explain what had happened and she was very understanding and gracious enough to change our reservation without charging us any fees..primarily because it was so far in advance, I imagine. Several months later, we arrive and Luann was very kind and welcoming. Scott's family had been staying at Bay Port Lodging since he was a child (I believe it was under a different name/ownership back in the 1990s?). Our room was perfect in the sense that it provided just what we needed. It was spotless! We pretty much only used the room to sleep since we had a lot of things we wanted to do each day. The location is great - you can walk to the grocery should you need anything and you can walk to the beach...with many great stops along the way. Last summer, my boyfriends parents rented the guest house for a week and we joined them for the last few days (after camping in the UP). The house is very nice and more than met all of our needs. The washer/dryer were quite handy! The kitchen was stocked with cooking/eating supplies and there was plenty of space for the 4 of us. The beds were comfy and well....there just isn't a reason to complain! I wish we could visit again this summer :( read more

Don't recommend. One of my three rooms for a family event was unavailable due to a plumbing problem and I'm still waiting for a refund. Rooms are prepaid with a THIRTY DAY cancellation policy and 15% penalty. Under 29 days is forfeited. Bad business practices at best. Window AC was missing from #6, no window screen, no fan, no outlet or exhaust fan in bathroom. read more

Really cute motel that is walking distance to town. The owner is very nice and helpful. I there is a nice green area in the middle to sit.

Pluses: *Rooms are clean and very nicely decorated *Close to downtown Areas of opportunity: *Extremely small rooms; two doubles with a family of four makes for tight quarters. *Stayed for two nights; but housekeeping did not straighten room or refresh linens. Management explained that if personal effects are on the beds or in the general vicinity where the staff cleans then they are instructed not to clean the room at all. This charming, quaint motel was wonderful! My mother and I drove up to Frankfort, MI for a friend's wedding. Her sister lives in town. I called around this past summer for rooms and found out how ungodly expensive staying in Frankfort hotels would be, for just one night.. Bay Port Lodging wasn't the cheapest, but was also very accommodating for a one night stay. Way more reasonably priced than the majority! Also the surrounding motels had a minimum stay of two nights because we visited during peak season. I called the staff a week before to request early check in since we were driving 5 hours.. Super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. They called me to say our room was ready at Noon! Perfect. No additional charges. Free parking and WiFi, cold AC during hot summer, nice TV, a mini fridge, decent shower with water pressure, clean and spacious CUTE quiet room, adorable decor, soft bed & pillow, conveniently located within walking distance to town and the beach. Highly recommending and I will stay here again if I travel back to Frankfort. read more

For some people the number 13 represents "bad luck", but for my wife and I, it represents our favorite room to stay in at Bayport Lodging!!! Even though we only live 30 miles from Frankfort, we annually take a few days off to "just chill", and what a great place to do it. We look forward to our to Bay Port Lodging stay every year, for our fun filled in-county staycation! This year, we stayed July 31st to August 2nd! We had a FUN few days and a great stay! We love the quaintness of the motel! The rooms are all so clean and uniquely decorated; you can just tell the owners really care! While the motel is centrally located, within walking distance of everything that Frankfort has to offer, we also enjoy just hanging out at the motel and meeting others as we sit outside our room relaxing in the chairs or the hammock outside our room. The owners go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay an enjoyable one! The staff is great and full of big smiles! They are so accommodating and helpful! If you forgot to bring something...just as ask! We forgot our beach chairs this year and the owners insisted that we borrow theirs to use at a local beach. We love the town of Frankfort for its beaches, restaurants, shopping district, specialty stores (Port City Smokehouse and Stormcloud Brewery are a must!) and the fact that everyone is so friendly. Add in a wonderful stay at Bay Port Lodging and it was another trip full of great memories! We highly recommend staying at Bay Port Lodging! See you next year! read more

Don't expect to have your online reservation honored if someone walks into the door with a better offer. I had reserved a single night and received a phone call that someone walked in who wanted 2 weeks so my reservation was canceled. In fairness they did offer to help me find another room but their help was calling other establishments while I was on another line. I finally just did it on my own. read more
