Crystal is now my favorite hill in Michigan. Great value for everything you get. This past winter we spent 7 total days at Crystal skiing. Great for families.

Stopped in at the market and it was fabulous. Great place to get a few things we needed and also a clean, organized fun environment to grab some souvenirs! Would visit again.

Crystal Mountain has something for everyone! A gorgeous ski resort filled with activities, super family friendly and just plain delightful. I came here with friends, but wasn't up for skiing. So some friends hit the slopes, while the ones who didn't ski roamed the rest of the property. Crystal Mountain offers snowshoeing (at a different building than the ski rentals, which was a tad confusing to navigate to at first), but the conditions weren't great the day we went. So instead, we walked the half mile to the art park they have and hiked through it (about 1.5-2 miles round trip). There were a lot of interesting art pieces throughout and it connects to some cross country skiing trails as well. There's a ton of different buildings throughout Crystal Mountain that house food, tons of cozy seating areas, lodging, etc. There's a little ice rink and outdoor fire pits within the village area too. The lodging (both cottages and almost hotel/apartment room style options) look super nice, but I can imagine they're super expensive as well! My friends had a blast skiing and snowboarding - it was perfect weather for these winter activities when we went, but it was definitely crazy busy, chaotic, and the chair lifts were breaking and needing to be fixed frequently from what they told us. They took a snack break in the middle of their skiing time and we met up in a white tent that had a live music performer as well. The tent smelled of propane at first, which was a tad concerning, but ultimately fine. After they were all done with skiing, we got waffles at the Waffle Station before departing. Overall, we had such an incredible time at such a lovely ski resort!

We came here to have a family fun afternoon. We bought the 4 pass for the alpine slide. We had a blast. Our 6 year old loved it. 4 slides was enough for us for now. We are planning on getting the activity action pass with unlimited slides. The resort is beautiful and every employee we met was extremely polite.

The kids are having so much fun! Archery and skiing and for me, bloodies! . We had great weather but the snow wasn't making an appearance. Luckily there was enough for the kids to ski. This is a great place for some new years celebration. I'm sure they're great for any celebration. Come check them out!

We rented a house for the day close to Crystal Mountain. It is a ski-resort in season and a mountain slide in the off-season. They have other activities nearby that they own such as a large outdoor swimming pool but we stuck with the downhill slide. Tickets are reasonable and you would wait for the ski lift to carry you up and you would slide down on a cart with a brake. The ride is short but it is worth the wait. I recommend this resort all season long.

I stayed here for 5 nights, this resort is very cute and great for families! They have lots to do, indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub to swim in, indoor spa, alpine slide, lots of restaurants, small grocery store, hiking trails, a gym, walking trails, golf course, small zip line, archery, bikes, clothing shops and more! The resort itself is very expensive, the only things included with your stay are free pool and gym access. Mostly everything else is priced very high. The pool, hiking trails, bike trails, and slide were fun. The pools (both indoor and outdoor) are designed solely for small children, the deepest section of both pools are 4ft, there is no jumping or diving allowed in the pool. I hiked on the art trail which I believe was $25 for a 1 1/2 mile hike with art pieces spread throughout (still fairly pricey on top of other feed like biking and the slide along with your room). The resort has many types of cottages to stay in (room for all sizes of gatherings) and reminded me of a small town, my room in particular was a bit outdated and dirty (cheetos on the ground and hair in the shower when I arrived). Overall, I enjoyed my stay, this resort keeps you very active with lots to do and many restaurants to check out, along with lots of cute neighboring towns with places to eat and shop (Frankfort and Glen Arbor were my favorites!).

Took the kids here to ride the alpine slide. They had a blast. The staff running they slide were super friendly and helpful ( gave tips on how to go faster) They are using an online reservation system. You will need to call if you want to go the day of. I did call and the girl who made my reservation was super friendly and answered all of my bazillion questions. -there is a height and weight requirement and I was concerned about my tall but skinny boy. They had a little Waffle Hut but it was closed. There were a few porta potties ( indoor restrooms were closed due to covid) For $20 you get as many slides as you can do in an hour. It takes about 20 to ride up the chair lift and get set up to slide down. My guys hustled and got 5 slides in, they asked to go back the next day!

My husband and I came up for a mini holiday to catch the end of the snowboarding season. This was both of our first time staying at the resort. Lots of pros and cons for our short weekend: Pro - 1. My husband is a snowboarder and said there are tons of trails depending on one's skill level. Since we visited mid March, there wasn't a ton of of snow, mostly slush, but he enjoyed the varying hills.2. The breakfast buffet at The Wild Tomato was delicious. The price was about $22 per person. The host, Rich, was super friendly. He had the best customer service out of anyone we met at the resort. 3. Since this was a last minute trip, we booked the smallest room, a Pinehurst Studio. It was within a few minutes walking to the lift and was the perfect size for our stay. The room had an unexpected washer and dryer (which made sense after my husband's ski clothes needed to be dried after all the slush.) We were here during the Spring Carnival; they had lots of added activities which was neat. Cons - When we checked in, the Guest Check In staff made the comment that "that's our smallest room, there's barely enough room to turn around." I thought that was a very odd way to welcome someone. Like we know the room is a small but at $360ish for two nights, the price isn't small. We had to call maintenance to come fix the TV and we never got the radiant heat working for the bathroom floor, which was freezing. There is a charge to go walking in the woods at the Art Park area. That seems a bit excessive to pay to walk on some trails. This is definitely a family place, lots of kids everywhere so if you want some quiet time in the outdoor hot tub or indoor pool, try to go during the day when most people will be on the ski hills. My husband forgot his snowboard boots so had to rent a pair ($30). The rented ones had mud all over them so not even cleaned off and the kid behind the counter gave him ski boots so he had to go exchange them again. A small point but still, as part of a resort customer service, I would think they would have a little more attention to detail. Overall, this was a great place to spend a few days. We are hoping to visit again next ski season and spend a little more time on the different trails. It is a quaint resort and you can see how the area people enjoy being there. If you visit during summer, I would think bringing bikes would be awesome as there are lots of little paved roads to explore while checking out the cute cabins.

There were very few open tickets left, so I highly recommend making your reservations as far in advance as possible! You can cancel for a full refund before 48 hours of your tubing time. The website is a little contradictory as they say tubing is open for all ages, however, they highly encourage all tubers to be able to handle loading and unloading themselves on and off the tow rope. We have a 4.5 & 2 year old so we gambled, as I had heard they have double tubes and we'd be able to handle this issue by riding with them. When we arrived, we signed in inside and were given our passes and a quick run down of how things worked. I was happy to see the COVID safety precautions they had in place - plexiglass dividers, sanitizer, and lots of social distancing at the indoor tables. I will note, they require face masks to be worn inside and outside while on the hill. This was actually welcomed as it helped keep our faces warm and we didn't find it bothersome at all to have them on! Especially flying down the hill! They have a full bar, snacks, etc inside for sale - we did not take advantage but nice to know its there! Bathrooms are inside, as well. There is a pile of tubes that you get to choose from, double tubes are first come first serve and we were able to grab two. These were ideal for our young kids! We were able to load them on and off the tow rope easily and had no issues. The operator at the bottom is super helpful in making sure you tube is secured and you are good to go. There is an operator at the top that tells you to get off the tube and he unhooks it from the rope - did not expect that but it was very much welcomed! There was about 4 operators at the top of the hill that help coordinate when you can go down and help you get going - again, no anticipated but very welcomed! This allowed us to get situated with our kids and they launched us down the hill. The hill is pretty dang big! Given the recent warm up, the hill was also very icy! We did not have any issues falling out or tipping, thankfully, but I would definitely recommend helmets, especially for kids! I was very happy to see that they had put hay down at the bottom of the hill. Not only did this help combat the mud, slush, ice, water mess.. but it helped slow the tubes since you go about mach 10 down the hill! lol There is plenty of outdoor seating and a fire pit to enjoy, as well. All in all, we had a great experience at Timberlee and we look forward to coming back! Our kids loved it, and we as adults did, too! Also, we were disappointed we didn't see the Bloody Mary's until we were leaving, they looked really good!

Unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE... more on that in a minute. We stayed in one of the "suites" in the Little Belle -an aging mini ski village at the base of the chairlift to the ski hills. As it was August, the village was pretty quiet. Our room, Suite 10 was located on the second floor and while spacious, had several flaws including a broken gas fireplace (not really an issue in August), stained carpet, broken base molding, a tiny bathroom with a phone-booth sized shower with a slow drain, a ridiculous 1990s whirlpool tub set in the middle of the bedroom along with a tiny pedestal sink. At more than $350/night ($400 on the weekend) given the modest quality of the room, this would be for me a 2 or 3-star place, at best. Unfortunately we received a shocking text Friday night (see photo) with less than 12 hours notice that the electricity would be shut off at 8 am on SATURDAY for an indeterminate time frame in our section of the property and that they were sorry. Obviously I called asking to move to a different part of the resort but was told they were full. I'm thinking, well emergencies happen, but after additional calls, I found out, no, in fact they had a power issue a couple of weeks ago and have been running off a generator. Further, while there was no time frame for the repair, they were "HOPING to have it done by mid afternoon."!!!!! As we had a 4 pm wedding, this was obviously not going to be acceptable to be without power, hot water or a room for what was expected to be a rainy day. We just couldn't rely on the HOPE that we could get back into the (electric door locks after all) and HOPE we would have enough time to get ready and HOPE there would be hot water... I think you get the idea! Luckily I was able to find a hotel in Empire with a room we could book for 1 night when I called at 9 pm. They were super nice when I explained our situation and promised to get a room cleaned as quickly as possible then call us so we wouldn't have an issue with the 4 pm wedding-No THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE! (Hint to the Homestead). What I can't get over is the tone-deafness of the text. Clearly they knew about this issue when we arrive to check in on THURSDAY yet only notified us late the night before when we and the other suckers were stuck with no options during the busy tourist season?! I don't know about you but we travel frequently and stay in hotels of all levels 50-60 nights a year and have never experienced such a cavalier level of customer service. While this is a nice area to visit, I'll never stay at the Homestead again and hope my experience will inform your decision as well. Good riddance!

It had a café, five individual lifts, plenty of fun trails and a massive terrain park. The café at Otsego was a very nice one, and had a large fire which was great to come into on a cold day. The terrain park was also super fun, with gigantic jumps that sent me very high up into the air but no rails, which was ok but not as cool as it could be.
