I had no idea it would become one of the top-rated public courses in the Country. I could go on and on about the many accolades and nuisances that this course includes, but I have to mention that it has the best 19th hole anywhere. Grab an adult beverage and meet me at the Adirondack chairs behind the 18th hole green. If you're lucky enough to be playing on a Friday or Saturday afternoon, you'll be greeted by an authentic bagpipe player at 6:00-sundown. There's just no place like it anywhere.

For the slopes, they had so many lines for all different level of skiing. They had multiple sides to the mountain and even had a bar at the top that offered alcohol, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and even chili and hot dogs. I am at a beginner level and the green lines were still a tad more difficult, but everyone going down looks out for everyone. I was very impressed with the ski patrol as a fell quite a few times and they were there to check on me. The area itself was very clean and again, everything is easily walkable. I noticed an outdoor playground for the kiddos when it's warmer out to play on. The food options here are good. Almost everywhere was a bit crowded, but we were able to wait for our food and then take it back to the Airbnb. I was very impressed with this place on every level. I will be coming back and staying longer next time.

This was a time saver. -Do get to the mountain by mid-morning to secure close parking, maximize your ski time, and enjoy the runs before the crowds arrive (and they will). -Do consider coming on a Wednesday. A lift ticket in 2026 is only $45 versus the $105 I dropped for a Saturday. Shout-out to the ski staff for their overall hospitality and making sure folx got onto the lifts quickly and safely. It appeared to be a smooth operation. Another shout-out to the ski instructors who transformed my nieces into skilled skiers in just one lesson. Though this was my first time at Crystal Mountain, it will not be my last.

My wife and I, both seniors, played the first nine holes of the Pinecroft course - but we wish we…read morewould have played somewhere else. We've played the course over many years in spite of the ever-present knats there. Our first bad experience was in the pro shop. The nine-hole rate, on a Friday, was $33 apiece. It was in the $ teens just recently. We earlier played a nearby public course, Crystal Lake, which was in good shape and only cost $15 apiece. Because of a tight time schedule, we played Pinecroft anyway. We rated the condition of the course at a C. Some bare spots on the fairways and greens. The power cart badly needed some repairs. We sometimes had to press the accelerator four or five times to get it to go. After a few holes played we went to where the water jugs should have been - not a one on the course. When our golfing ended, we drove up to the clubhouse. The clubhouse woman was outside. I told her that there was no drinking water on the course. She said "Yes, that's right - the health department made us remove the jugs". She said it as if all other courses don't have water. In spite of the world-class view of Crystal Lake, we will not play the course again.
