Damon and Angela got us extra mirrors to do make up and hair. Was totally relaxing and got some amazing pre-wedding photos. We came back saturday night to stay, also had some other family stay in another cabin as well for the weekend. They are amazing people always have smiles on their face and accommodating your needs in any way. Coffee is ready and brewed for the guest to enjoy. Outstanding beautiful scenery down by the river, and a clam fire to end the evening relaxing. Huge thank you from the Smoker's. 6-9-18

The owners Damon and Angela are real friendly, and want to make sure your stay is a good one. The cabins are old and may be a little creeky, but the insides are lean and updated with new bath fixtures, new kitchens with new cabinets, sink, counters, stove and fridge. They have been busy remodeling and cleaning them up. They are only 1/2 hour to sleeping bear, Traverse City, or Glen Arbor. They are on the Platte River, and Damon will drive you upstream, drop you off with tubes so you can cruise back to the cabins. There are firepits eveywhere for you to relax quietly, and even chat with neighbors or the owners if you like. There is your own private deck on the river you can sit and relax at, with a fiepit nearby. They told us some great places to go fishing. They have free wifi.

A friend found this resort when we were looking for somewhere to go for a girl's weekend. We stayed…read morein a third floor penthouse. I can sum up Lebear with one word: WOW. Absolutely amazing. A beautiful spacious apartment, with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. It easily slept the six of us and we did not feel the least bit over crowded. As there was a group of us the price really was pretty reasonable for the weekend. While family friendly, it could be a bit pricey. The kitchen comes with everything you need from dinner ware to dish soap. There is a large grill on the private porch besides the stove top and oven. Two fireplaces (one is gas and the other you have to light for which they provide all needed materials). There are two flat screen TVs in the main rooms, another in the master bedroom and a small one in the bunk room. The shower in the master bath is huge and there is also a separate large tub. The best part is the large porch that overlooks the beach and Lake Michigan. It wraps around the side around to the back. the view of the lake and Sleeping Bear Dunes is beautiful. The resort also has a gym, outdoor pool and hot tub. Blu, a restaurant I highly recommend, is attached. There is also free wifi (they provide a password). The staff was also amazing, expect to be treated like an honored guest. They take care if anything you might need, even marsh mellows. The only slightly negative thing is that Lebear is a bit off on its own in Glen Arbor. The wineries are about a half hour away which was reasonable. Glen Arbor is small but charming. There are several shops, a couple bars (try Art's Tavern) and a grocery store. The resort is a very short walk from the town.

This review is really more of a 4.5. Absolutely beautiful location and accommodations; very…read morefamily-friendly, great amenities. There are all sorts of tiny details that make Lebear a special place, such as cucumber-ice water by the pool, cookies in the kitchen, and free and easy kayak use on site. The location is excellent. We have stayed at the Homestead in years past, but the Lebear location really sets it apart as it is a quick walk to the grocery stores, restaurants and shops in Glen Arbor. My only complaint is a minor one, and it's just that the bedroom situation is a little funky. In all three of the units I saw, the master bedroom was perfect, but the two smaller guest rooms left much to be desired. One of the bedrooms has a nice queen bed and bunk beds and the other has a double or queen-sized trundle bed. I would think to put the trundle bed in the room with the bunk beds (making it more of a "kids" room) and leave the nice queen-sized bed in its own room. Also, the hallway lighting outside of the two smaller guest rooms was extremely bright at night and made it very difficult to sleep.

Once you realize that, you'll be fine. We stayed in the hemlock cabin. This cabin is close to the road but we knew that so expected traffic noise. Upon arrival, we found a plate of yummy pastries inside for our enjoyment and air conditioning which we didn't expect. The host is very friendly and let us change our reservation date without charge because we had an emergency at home. Very grateful for that! These cabins are nice and it sort of feels like camping. You get a picnic table, a bbq, and fire pit. There's a huge yard with things for kids of all ages to enjoy right by the office. They thankfully sell firewood, which we bought because our gas station wood was wet. The bed was broken down quite a bit and didn't do my back any good, but if that sort of thing doesn't bother you, you'll be fine. Tight bathrooms and no table for your belongings, but it was sufficient. We took a lovely walk to the lake and enjoyed a break from the traffic noise. They have a nice deck with chairs to enjoy along with boats if you want to go out onto the lake to fish or whatever. There are many rules noted inside the cabin about linens, garbage, etc. We've never seen anything like that before. I hope we did everything correctly. We would recommend this place to someone but would suggest a cabin further back in the woods to avoid the road noise.

It was winter and we pretty much had the run off the place, so w didn't need to worry about disturbing anyone. They were kind enough too bring in a lazy-boy chair which is much more comfortable than couches that can serve as extra bedding. There kitchen was modern, which was somewhat of a disappointment, but we understand that the market demands some updates. They have some newer cabins on the property, but I sincerely enjoy the rustic ambiance of the cabin we chose. The staff was kind enough to keep the secret, even while my nosey wife tried to figure out what was going to happen and called them before the weekend. The hot tub is a fine size for even four people, and there is a sign up sheet to claim your time slot. More importantly, a small business could have just as easily said "There tub is closed for repairs" just knowing it's not cost effective to operate just for one couple coming in. But it was running, ready and relaxing! Kudo's for their honest business practice! It's also very close to downtown TC so antiquing and downtown browsing it's not too long of a drive away.

If you're looking for nearby restaurants or activities, be prepared to drive a few miles to Glen Arbor or Empire or beyond. Sleeping Bear Dunes national park is close, especially the dune climb trail which I highly recommend. Some of the rooms have small kitchenettes which are nice for preparing some of your own meals or snacks. My room included a refrigerator, microwave, some limited dishes, and a coffee maker. The bathroom provided towels and mini shampoo and conditioner, but no hair dryer. There is no housekeeping service provided during your stay, so I had to ask for extra coffee packets, shampoo, and conditioner during my stay. Though the room appeared pretty outdated, it was perfectly clean! The walls are quite thin so you can hear your neighbors next door or outside on the deck easily. The lake is at the end of the street, just a short walk away. Kayaks, paddle boards, and a canoe are available for guest use. The paddles and life jackets are located behind the building, so make sure to bring what you need down to the lake with you. On one evening, the innkeeper started a little campfire in the back which was charming. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here with some nice features, but also leaving a bit to be desired.
