Hoping this honest reviews helps anyone interested in booking with Coastal Suites…read more We try to support small, local businesses as much as possible, which is why we chose Coastal Suites vs. a larger chain that was cheaper in price. Coming in from Seattle, we booked this for a wedding we were attending nearby for one of my boyfriend's best friends. Unfortunately, we came down with Covid and immediately tried to get in touch with this hotel to cancel our reservation. Their line rang endlessly and instead of being able to leave a voicemail, the call ended with a continuous busy signal after regular dial tones. I must have called at least 20 times when we were within the 7 day cancellation policy. I eventually got through to their voicemail and left a total of 2-3 voicemails, in which I stated the issue with their line and not being able to get through to a person or leave a VM, at the very least. Those also went unanswered. By the time the crew got back to me, we were conveniently outside the 7 days to cancel for a full refund. I then asked to get in touch with the manager, as no one seemed empathetic, understanding, or helpful in dealing with this already painful situation. I spoke with Cari, the general manager, over text, as she wouldn't call me...She coldly offered me a 50% refund as a best case scenario, ignoring all the steps I took to cancel and get 100% of the reservation back. She then said 100% would only be possible if they filled the room, which didn't seem fair at all. I then asked to speak with the owner. The next day, I received an email from Anna, one of the owners. She also avoided the phone call I requested and blamed meetings...I, too, am in meetings most of the day, but there is always 5 minutes that can be found, especially given all I had gone through up to this point. She also pressured me into cancelling the reservation so they could try to re-rent the room, but I wasn't comfortable potentially losing 50% of this reservation if they didn't rebook it (they had 2 other rooms that were cheaper available so the odds didn't seem good). I gave her full context of what happened up to this point, and she disregarded all of it, referring back to the cancellation policy. I did explain that I would be involving my credit card company to dispute the full charge as well as write an honest review, since we tried cancelling many times within the cancellation policy. Instead of doing the right thing, she stated "Please note, threatening to harm our business with a false review disqualifies you from receiving a full refund regardless of whether it gets booked, so I do not recommend taking that action." Following these communications, I received 2 more calls from the staff "returning my calls" from weeks prior...each time I re-explained what happened and pleaded for them to do the right thing. At this point, we've been fully credited by our credit card company and I'm summarizing what happened to us in detail so you are fully aware with who you are booking with. Rest assured nothing written here is falsified and I'm only highlighting the "customer service" behind this company. I have full receipts of everything, in case anyone from this company tries to say anything to the contrary. As painful as it was to have to cancel this very important trip, the owners of this location did nothing to sympathize with our situation, let alone take ownership for their flawed phone system and their overall lack of organization/customer service, and all over $200 (total reservation was $400). Please don't book with this company, as our friends were very happy booking elsewhere for their stays.

Our room was so cozy and our beds were perfect and comfortable. The decor was really nice. They have a clubhouse with a big tv, PlayStation and DVD player, as well as apple juice and popcorn and board games. In the morning, we woke up to snow, and the same gal that checked us in told us she cleaned the snow off our car once and then proceeded to clear my car off again for us. I have never experienced such great hospitality at a motel/hotel, and I travel quite a bit. The girls and I went in for the continental breakfast...they had small milk bottles, Tropicana oj, muffins, bagels, granola bars, bread, and coffee. This place was fantastic and affordable, I would definitely go back.

We arrived early from a long road trip and were greeted by a friendly front desk clerk who to checked us in early. Our room was well-appointed, with all the basics, including hand soap, lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There was a small desk, hooks for hanging personal items, hangars, a small fridge, disposable cups, extra towels and comfortable beds. The lobby was cute and modern and had plenty of comfy seating options, small tables, foosball tables, 24 hr. complimentary coffee and tea and snacks, soups, mac 'n cheese, etc. and beverages for sale. There is a workout room equipped with treadmills, Peloton, elliptical, weights, mats, towels and water bottle filler. The front desk has complimentary ear buds if you need them. They have a full hot breakfast as well as a coffee station with coffee and tea available 24 hours a day. I do like an in room coffee maker but even having to go downstairs to get a hot cup of coffee in the morning wasn't a problem. The hotel is two years old so everything is nice and new. The beds were very comfortable and the room a have a blackout shade. Plenty of USB and plugs in the room. They have a smart TV so I was able to stream my Netflix and SiriusXM music. Even with a room facing the main highway it was a peaceful and quiet stay. I can't think of one negative about this hotel and would happily stay here again.

Me and my little boy stayed her for the first time this summer right after the 4th of July holiday…read more We needed a jumping-off-spot that was affordable. This place fit the bill. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was clean and had everything we may have needed complete with a microwave, a coffeemaker and mini-fridge. The room may have been their smallest which is likely why it was least expensive, but it had a huge bathroom that was also clean. I let my little boy have the bed and brought a cot to sleep on. It was a little cramped for the two of us with the cot. My only complaint was that our room had access to the room next door and in the evenings the smell from their microwave dinner would waft in. This July I think I'll opt for a larger room, otherwise this was a great spot to stay. I almost buried the lead...they're a stone's throw from the public beach too. We walked over for a late swim the night before we left. This was hugely cool to be right around the corner from the beach. Definitely worth checking into.

Absolutely amazing. A beautiful spacious apartment, with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. It easily slept the six of us and we did not feel the least bit over crowded. As there was a group of us the price really was pretty reasonable for the weekend. While family friendly, it could be a bit pricey. The kitchen comes with everything you need from dinner ware to dish soap. There is a large grill on the private porch besides the stove top and oven. Two fireplaces (one is gas and the other you have to light for which they provide all needed materials). There are two flat screen TVs in the main rooms, another in the master bedroom and a small one in the bunk room. The shower in the master bath is huge and there is also a separate large tub. The best part is the large porch that overlooks the beach and Lake Michigan. It wraps around the side around to the back. the view of the lake and Sleeping Bear Dunes is beautiful. The resort also has a gym, outdoor pool and hot tub. Blu, a restaurant I highly recommend, is attached. There is also free wifi (they provide a password). The staff was also amazing, expect to be treated like an honored guest. They take care if anything you might need, even marsh mellows. The only slightly negative thing is that Lebear is a bit off on its own in Glen Arbor. The wineries are about a half hour away which was reasonable. Glen Arbor is small but charming. There are several shops, a couple bars (try Art's Tavern) and a grocery store. The resort is a very short walk from the town.

There are all sorts of tiny details that make Lebear a special place, such as cucumber-ice water by the pool, cookies in the kitchen, and free and easy kayak use on site. The location is excellent. We have stayed at the Homestead in years past, but the Lebear location really sets it apart as it is a quick walk to the grocery stores, restaurants and shops in Glen Arbor. My only complaint is a minor one, and it's just that the bedroom situation is a little funky. In all three of the units I saw, the master bedroom was perfect, but the two smaller guest rooms left much to be desired. One of the bedrooms has a nice queen bed and bunk beds and the other has a double or queen-sized trundle bed. I would think to put the trundle bed in the room with the bunk beds (making it more of a "kids" room) and leave the nice queen-sized bed in its own room. Also, the hallway lighting outside of the two smaller guest rooms was extremely bright at night and made it very difficult to sleep.
