I want to offer a great review of this hotel!…read more My wife and I have had to drive 100 plus miles down from the real Northern Michigan twice in the past two weeks for medical treatment - biopsies and pet scans at Munson for stage 4 prostate cancer. Obviously, we were very concerned and nervous. This hotel was wonderful, and made our trip much less stressful. The accommodations were spacious and clean and well-furnished. But, as good as the hotel and rooms were - we had different rooms each time - the staff was FANTASTIC! Since I needed to be at the hospital at 6:00 AM, they delivered well-packed boxes with delicious breakfast items to our room at 4:00 AM. When we checked in, we were asked to pick our breakfast selections from five options. The packets of food were left outside our room before we even awoke. When the refrigerator in our room malfunctioned, they replaced it within 30 minutes. When we needed additional towels, they were delivered immediately. Unfortunately, I did not get names for the staff that brought the items we needed, but I did get the names of the people that were at the front desk, I would like to give a very big thumbs-up to both Anthony - who checked us in both times - and to Sky - who helped us extend our room by one day when we called the front desk at 5:00 AM. Originally, we planned to drive home today, but realizing that I might not be up for the drive back after hours of tests, we decided to rest up one more day. We would like to give the hotel and its accommodations a "10" on a scale of 10, but - following the example of "This Is Spinal Tap" - we want to give the staff an "11"! Needless to say, but I will anyway, this hotel is now our go-to for any further visits to Munson in TC. I promise that you will definitely not be disappointed with your stay here as well!

Check-in was quick and personnel were friendly. Room was sufficient, but does need some updating…read more Bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have a refrigerator and microwave. We did like the two sinks and the Starbucks coffee. Breakfast was delivered to our door and was very nice.

We booked a home in Grand Haven in March. About 30 days before our trip, they called and asked us…read moreto move our dates a week later. They said the owners wanted to use the property for their daughter. I explained that we are flying from Arizona to Michigan for this vacation so we have airfare, time off work, time off school etc for 7 people. A few days later I received a very generic email stating the property we booked was no longer available. They suggested another property (same town but very different walkability, different bathroom count, different setup). Had I cancelled this late in the game I would have been responsible for 50% payment (mind you I had already paid in full). There was zero concession offered, zero apology, zero kindness. To add insult to the situation, I still receive automated texts regarding my upcoming arrival. So I had to scramble to find another place (with less than 30 days) and pay that in full while awaiting a refund on my first booking. Epic failure in customer service.

They were fixing the balcony above us and saw dust was constantly falling. My husband smoked outside the unit and they charged us $1000 dollar fee for smoking inside. It was really…read morean excellent little getaway with many pros and only a few cons This resort specializes in golf...golf...GOLF (haha) during the summer, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have much to offer in the winter. There is an AMAZING spa (excellent sauna, hot tub, indoor pool, great massages), basketball and tennis courts, arcade, axe throwing, mini bowling, and indoor golf simulators. And if you prefer to just not leave the room, very comfy beds with couch seating at almost 400 sq feet per the most basic room (next time we stay here we will probably stay on the tower side of the resort where the rooms are even a little nicer). What we also loved here was the food. Aerie restaurant might be our new favorite restaurant in Michigan (close toss up with The Chophouse in Grand Rapids). See a separate review of mine for more particulars. There is also amazing room service, Niiji restaurant downstairs next to the lobby (great breakfast menu), and Jacks where you can get a good pizza or cheesy bread with awesome drinks. As for the cons, there are two: 1. A little pricey, and will only increase as we get more "in season." For the extra cost of an airplane ride, we could get a suite in downtown Vegas at the Golden Nugget, Plaza, or a luxury mini suite on Michigan Avenue in Chicago for the same price per night here of a standard room. That doesn't necessarily mean the price is not worth it here. Just be prepared is all. 2. Kids. Ugh. During the week there were not many people staying here, but as the weekend crept up more families arrived. Of course all it takes is one mommy and daddy to get drunk at Jacks downstairs while letting 3 ten year old buffoons run up and down the hall six floors up knocking on doors and running away to peeve folks like my wife and I to really put a damper on things (I don't mind admitting I don't like kids-lol. I have my own children and grandchildren-that's enough for me). The point is... do not confuse this with an adults only sanctuary. That is not what this place is. Just be prepared. Overall the score here is more like a 4.5 vs a true 5, but I'm rounding up as my wife and I were able to create some precious memories. That is bigger and better than any high price or annoying kids. Job very well done by the GTR&S. Looking forward to coming back here next year perhaps for a golf outing. :)

This was our first and likely last stay at the Grand Traverse Resort. It was my fiancé's birthday,…read moreand while we usually stay at Delamar, we wanted to try something different since the price was good. We booked a tower room. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Pedro, who was not particularly welcoming no hello or welcome, just a basic request for my ID. The room layout was great, but the "golf course view" was more of a parking lot view (though everything was snow-covered, so I understand that may affect the experience). Unfortunately, the room itself was not clean. There appeared to be mold in the ice bucket, white sticky stuff on the cabinet under the TV, handprints on the shower glass, and hair left in the bathroom, a smashed spider in the corner and cob webs throughout. Additionally, the balcony door lock was broken, so the balcony could not be opened at all, and the shower door bracket was also broken. We chose to stay since it was only one night and the bed appeared clean. I brought these issues up to Rachel at check-out, and her response was simply that they had "a list of housekeeping issues this morning," with no apology or concern expressed. Overall, the hotel staff did not feel very caring or welcoming, although the restaurant staff was very friendly. It was nice seeing the tennis matches going on, but the pool was quite cold, kids were filling the hot tub area to play so we stayed away. Would be cool to have an adult only hot tub. I'm sure when the outside ones are open and it's not as cold these are pretty nice. All in all, this stay did not provide the resort experience we were hoping for. I'm not sure I would recommend.

The jacuzzi in the room was definitely a highlight and made the stay feel relaxing. That being said, the balcony was pretty disappointing. We were on the first floor and it was really small with plastic chairs and no sunlight, so we didn't end up using it at all. It felt a bit misleading compared to how it looked on the website but we didn't care too much.. We did enjoy the pool and hot tub, and overall the place has more of an older, vintage feel. The staff were really nice and anytime we requested something it was handled quickly and everything went smoothly. I would consider staying again, but I would maybe skip the balcony next time.

We had a very nice lakeside room with a spacious balcony. One word of caution the rooms facing east especially the lower levels look at a crummy empty lot. The third floor may be somewhat better. They do warn you that the view of the lake is partial and perhaps better than looking at the parking lot but... The room itself was nice with a larger refrigerator and an extra sink outside the bathroom which is handy. There is a large indoor pool which we didn't use but it looked inviting. The location is close enough to downtown and all of the shops and restaurants that you can walk - under a mile each way. They also have a shuttle bus that on request will take you into town which we used one night when we decided we would only walk back. The only minor ding is their free breakfast was weak compared to most chain hotels. The hot entrees never varied over the three mornings. Overall for the rate this was a great experience.

Champagne lodging for beer budgets! We stayed here off-season snd enjoyed even more savings…read more Our unit included a king-size ded and jacuzzi upstairs, a queen-size bed downstairs, a sofa, a full kitchen with basic utensils and linens and table/chairs, and TVs in both bedrooms and the living area. The beds and linens were extremely comfy; everything was clean; the water was hot and the heating system was quiet. There is ample closet/ storage space; we were joking that the central closet could double as an additional bedroom. And since we travel with our dog, we were delighted by the pet-friendly policy and modest $10/day fee. Negatives were few. The bathroom is small and lacks shelf space for toiletries. The baseboard near the jacuzzi looked a bit rugged and in need of replacement, and the finish was worn on some of the furniture. One of the TV remotes had a couple of wonky buttons. But in the grand scheme of things these were minor issues indeed. There is an on-premises laundry for lodgers and an outdoor pool and BBQ area for summer visitors. The motel is close to parks, beaches and East Bay/Acme businesses and restaurants. A small woodlot provides a bit of a buffer between the motel and its neighbors. This is a great value, and a good choice for a girls' weekend or family vacation with older kids who don't need to be entertained on premises.

Upon arrival, we discovered a lady bug/beetle infestation. The dishes in the kitchen cabinets were dirty and also had beetles on them. The kitchen is also not a full kitchen as advertised. of the two bedrooms, one of them does not have heat, and the other one has a hidden baseboard heater which you are not made aware of. This resulted in us sleeping without heat before the first night. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy. Only 2 of us (out of 6 people) showered the entire weekend as the showers were very unclean. We had dog hair in the sheets of our bed. We realize mistakes can happen with cleaners so tried to work with the property owner, Jeff in hopes of working something out and issuing a partial refund for everything we encountered last weekend. He was very unprofessional and left us no choice but to contact AirBNB for help. After seeing our photos and videos, they agreed that we deserved a partial refund.
