When the owner mentioned it, I was very disappointed, but once we were there, I was so happy with the opportunity. With any B&B, you're staying in the main house, having idle chit chat with other guests, and sometimes hear people in other rooms. The cabin, you have none of this, just perfect tranquility, silence, and isolation. The owners stocked up the fridge for us and we can have breakfast in our own cabin. It was more of a continental breakfast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, etc..., but it was so pleasant. The cabin is located about 500 feet from the main house and several miles from the main road, and about 8 miles from downtown Traverse City. You really get in the woods feeling without being to far from the city and you have a river flowing through your backyard. It is a really nice place and I would gladly stay there again.

Keep in mind that there is no AC for those few days in Michigan that you may need it. Also all rooms do not have adjoining bathrooms. Some rooms must use the common bathroom down the hall. Lots of opportunity to learn about the history of the home, the prior owners, and the town. Plenty of literature. The sunroom is fantastic! Rocks Landing (good food see my other review) is a restaurant across the street affiliated with the resort. Unfortunately they only took walk-ins on their outside, un-covered patio, there were no reservations indoors and it was still raining. Patty called the chef and arranged for their first ever take out order. We even got a bottle of wine and had a delicious, private gourmet dinner in front of the original stone fireplace in the lodge. Outstanding hospitality. I will bicycle and stay here again. Oh and they let us spot an overnight bag at the resort so we didn't have to carry our clothes and toiletries on the bikes.
