Pros: service was unbeatable. From the beginning they greeted me and helped me find my fit. The employees were so friendly and attentive But the biggest con is the selection - it was lackluster. There wasn't a huge variety of colors. While they had the brands I wanted they didn't have anything that made me excited to wear them. Just the basic black and neutrals. The one fun color theyin my size was a plum purple and navy blue combo but wasn't something that really sparked my interest. Maybe smaller sizes have a better chance at having some cooler options. I'm Size 10 in women's for reference. They are comparable in cost to the prices online. The fitting is free which is awesome as well. read more

Checked their website for hours to ensure we could make it well before they closed. Drove downtown and paid to park only to find a sign on the door saying they had "special hours" today and closed three hours prior to what the website stated. My husband and I came in on a Saturday morning unintentionally after the farmers market. After a bad experience at a different feet fleet location we were nervous. All I'll say is if you're reading this review and thinking about going to this location, 10000% do it. We were so happy with the Service Sam provided us, and all the knowledge he had to share! The shoes can get on the more expensive side, but it makes sense. You're paying for the amazing service you receive, and also for a great product you'll be using for your health goals. The service at this location is outstanding. I've been a customer for several years and have worked with several of the staff. All of them are fantastic!! They take the time to find out exactly what you want, do an analysis of your feet and fit you in a shoe that is comfortable and meets your needs. If they don't have what you want in the store, they'll order it for you. I also like their return and exchange policy; allows you to wear and try out a shoe to make sure it really works for you. I recently re-injured my foot and I was looking for better supportive shoes and knew I would have to spend some money on them. Was recommended to Fleet Feet. When I got there tonight it was one of their Run/Walks for their Thursday evening! I was greeted multiple times and reassured that they'd be right with me as they were trying to get things started. I picked up a brochure for a bra fitting and emailed Kathy to schedule. After a little mix up, I ended up with an appointment a week or so later. I arrived to my appointment and was greeted with a lovely ice tea (they were very gracious about making sure it was sugar and caffeine free, I'm in the middle of Sober October). Stephanie ended up helping me since the woman I had the appointment with was busy. She seemed a little nervous, actually, but was very helpful and I tried a variety of types and sizes before ending up with an uplift cross back by moving comfort. I also picked up some Nuun (essential for keto) and left the store with a nice little goody bag. I guess I just gave them 4 stars because they need to work on cross-selling and I haven't bought shoes there or clothing so I can't comment on that portion! I love it when I find a locally owned store that is community based and offers great personalized service. The staff is knowledgeable and they use technology (3D foot scanning) to assist in finding the best running shoe. They will spend as much time as needed to make sure you get the best shoe/fit. Two weekly runs are offered year round for all abilities (on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings) with varying routes and always with a three and five mile option. Saturday runs have chocolate milk after and massages on the first Saturday of the month. Many times a product rep will be in the store and you can try a pair of shoes for the run. I came here on a weekday afternoon glto get fitted for new running shoes. I really like their technology that scans your feet - and I love that I have the results in my email as well. The staff was very knowledgable about the different shoes and brought me several options to try. They also advised on best options to prevent shin splints. Fleet Feet has been my go-to for running shoes while living in Michigan and Maryland--I am so glad there's one in DSM now! Although Fleet Feet is a chain, this is a locally owned franchise (or whatever the technical business term is), and regardless, it feels local. Situated in the old Sticks in the East Village, the store is on the smaller size but houses a large selection of shoes, apparel, and gear. The staff is knowledgeable about all things running and will fit you to the right running shoe for your feet/stride/etc. They're also very friendly and will chat about running, life, DSM, or whatever. I know the store organizes community runs, but not having done any, I'm not certain when they are. Maybe Wednesdays and Saturdays? They also have free clinics on Tuesday nights. I tried to make it to a foam rolling clinic awhile back, but work got in the way. Prices are fair for the area compared to Scheels, Dicks, Running Room, etc. I've parked on the street when I've visited Fleet Feet (free street parking on Saturdays), but I believe there's a free ramp on East 6th during metered times (check with the store to be sure). read more

I will say, I was excited to try Fleet Feet--just due to their knowledge and experience. I'd tried local and national places before, but never have I encountered the service that was provided for me. The only negative I would say is their shoe selection is definitely on the higher end--but you get what you pay for, in my opinion! I wish I could remember the employees name, but I stopped here yesterday because I, not a runner at all, have decided to train for Dam to Dam. I've been really consistent but I have been really miserably struggling with shin splints. I came into the store yesterday desperate to find a solution and this guy could've sold me probably anything. I was thinking I'd need new shoes, compression socks, the works. He had me walk and suggested insoles, helping me find the right ones. And he suggested just the insoles. I ran my first ever 5K this morning and I seriously feel almost 0 pain. It makes me feel so much more hopeful about my training and my ability to become a runner :) couldn't recommend this place enough! read more

I was helped by the owner and he spent almost 45 minutes making sure I had the right fitting pair of shoes. Tried on at least eight pairs to get the right ones. They have a machine that scans your feet and helps them determine the right type of shoe for you. Super friendly and committed to helping people find the right shoe instead of just getting people in and out of the store. I would not but another pair of running shoes from anywhere else but here. I am hard to fit because of multiple physical problems and he just kept bringing out shoe after endless shoe until we found the ones that worked (actually the TWO that worked!)! I am on a fixed income, so that made it difficult, but honestly, I'm glad I did. Kevan made me feel safe with the return policy and I loved that I got a free organic chapstick and pen! The owners are involved in many great events around town and are very supportive of the running community. I went to fitness sports in Windsor heights for years before this, but got tired of their consistently bad and pushy attitude. I LOVE this store! I normally have purchased my Altra Zero Drop shoes through an online source. Lately, I had noticed the fit was not as good. I found out that Fleet Feet now stocks this brand. I was so impressed with the staff and their knowledge of the sizing, as well as the inventory they have on hand. I purchased two pairs, and was wearing one at the Home and Garden show the next day. While sitting for a bit, the woman next to me complained how badly her feet and back hurt. I told her to go to Fleet Feet and get fitted for new shoes, and to THROW AWAY the crummy inserts from the Good Feet store. She said she was going right there. Andy, the owner, did a lunch and learn at my office about shoes and accessories (i.e. socks, inserts, energy chews/gels) so I was excited to try out their shop when it was time to get a new pair. I popped in during lunch so didn't have a ton of time but they took it in stride. The staff listened to my story (current running level, running goals, etc), looked at my feet and stride, then recommended a few options. They demonstrated their knowledge by teaching me a thing or two while I tried the shoes. I wish they had a treadmill because the hallway seemed to short to really get a good feel (it was raining out so maybe they would have let me take them outside otherwise, I don't know and didn't ask). Love my shoes (and I got some great socks too). Will be going back when it's time for my next pair (and probably sooner to get another pair of those socks).
