The food here is amazing and I've never not liked anything I've ordered. Now they have a giant touchscreen menu where you can order your food and pay there. Other food already comes in a takeout container so it's easy to grab and go. My favorite things I've had there are definitely the oxtail, brown stew, chicken, and the curry chicken. For their sides, their garlic mashed potatoes is actually amazing and you can definitely tell there's a lot of garlic in it, lol when you pour some of the brown stew gravy on top of it, it is literally chefs kiss. Have not visited this spot in a few years simply because of the proximity to my home but if you're in the mood for some good authentic Jamaican food, I'd recommend stopping in and getting a meal. They do have a good selection of options on the menu from appetizers, to entrees which include vegetarian options and desserts. I ordered takeout and was able to place my order conveniently online. It was fairly easy to place the order. The service was nice when I came to pick up the order. Was able to pay at the register by tap card and I love that they open the container to show you the food before you make the final purchase. The food was hot and delicious. I took my food to go but they do have inside dining available. The restaurant was well lit and clean. The energy when walking inside Flavaz seemed very authentic & genuine. The music wasn't bad either. The 2 young ladies I encountered here are very kind and professional, the customer service was great. I went in to order a side of Mac n cheese and some plantains. They made the plantains fresh and they were still hot when I got home to eat them. They were very good and I would definitely recommend them. The macaroni was ok, my babies liked it and I ate it up as well. Would love to try more of their vegetarian menu sometime in the future. Their restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated showing an appreciation for their culture. Definitely check this place out if you have the chance. My chicken curry was delicious! Definitely authentic Jamaican cuisine. The wait took a bit long but it's worth it. I ordered to-go so I can't speak much on the ambiance but the interior was nice & clean. The mango tea was perfect. I hate really sweet drinks - but this had a perfect level of sweetness for me. We got one of the jerk shrimp skew and one of the jerk chicken. They did not have oxtail during my visit. Jerk shrimp will need a longer wait which they have told me. The jerk shrimp skews were grilled with jerk sauce, I like this appetizer. The jerk chicken was BBQ with right amount of jerk marinated seasoning. It is marinated to the bone. I very much enjoy Jamaican food and the fact there is such a yummy spot near Riverview is such a bonus. This place is great however you cannot rush the food, not even for takeout. Expect a 10-20min wait minimum for your food to come out, but it's worth it. It maybe on the more expensive side however I think their oxtails are about par for market wherever you go, like even the grocery stores. I liked the amount I received for the smaller meal. It was plenty for me. My mom who does not like skin on her chicken adores this place because they provided all meat no extras for the curry chicken. My dad got the jerk chicken and he enjoyed, especially the sauce on the side. I will come back to see if all portions stay the same and food tastes great again! If so I won't drive into the city anymore when I can go half as far and get amazing food. read more

Really good! I visited this past Saturday for the first time. I'd been in the mood for oxtail, but my usual place to get it from is not near my home. I needed something in the area. I immediately remembered Lisa M.'s review of the day and the pictures looked amazing. So, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. First of all, this restaurant has a good protocol in place for COVID-19. The sign on the door tells you to wear a face mask to prevent the spread. The patrons all comply. The employees were wearing masks and gloves. They have tape markings on the floor that are exactly 6 feet apart. I felt super safe placing my order and waiting inside for my takeout bag. All the food comes out straight from the kitchen. The young ladies at the counter are super friendly and helpful. The food was very good. I must admit like others that the price of the oxtail was a little surprising. My usual place doesn't charge as much. At the same time, the portion was good and the flavors were there. I love that the sweet plantains come with the meal as well as your choice of 2 sides. I was also excited that that they have Ting as a beverage option. I'd heard about this drink from a couple of my Jamaican friends. I didn't know that they had other flavors. I tried the Pink Ting which is a light pink grapefruit soda. It was so refreshing, and not as sweet as other sodas. I'd get it again. I'm looking forward to trying their whole red snapper. They make it 4 or 5 different ways. The escovitch preparation sounded really good to me. They'll steam it, fry it, serve it with brown sauce, and prepare it in other ways. It's so great that this restaurant is near by. The service is really good and the ladies at the counter are always pleasant and really appear happy to be serving you! it may take a little time receive your order, but it is always very fresh when you receive it and they show you what you're getting, which I appreciate. I would highly recommend Flavaz for an afternoon grub or a Sunday pick-me-up meal. The flavors are off the hook and the customer service is ideal. One reason I keep going back is for the coco bread accompanied with a juicy and succulent beef patty -- completely and utterly mouth watering. The Jamaican sodas are also a big favorite and pairs perfectly with the coco bread and beef patty or jerk chicken. The Jerk chicken is fabulous, but if you are a person who cannot handle any type of heat, I wouldn't recommend it. The only reason I docked down on one star for this establishment was because of the red snapper... every time my family and I go the fish seems to decrease in size each and every time. Ox Tails- Very tasty and tender & delicious, would recommend! Garlic mashed potatoes- Homemade and delicious, paired perfect with the juices from the OxTails!! Cabbage- was ok, I felt it needed to be cooked more personally. Plantains- these were perfect, just would have rather had more plantains and a little less cabbage.
