Went just before closing. Place looks very sketchy and doesn't look very clean. I ordered Jerk Chicken plate and was surprised with the quantity and quality of the food. Only issue I had with the food was the plantains were barely Luke warm and really starchy, they'd obviously been sitting a while.

Another great meal from this place. Every time I come the food is so good. They have the best marinade and pikliz!

Got the oxtail and rice, the oxtail was cooked perfectly, and very moist. It was a good portion and the rice was good

This restaurant is a hidden gem located in an unassuming back corner of the shopping plaza. The food and customer service definitely live up to the reviews. As soon as I walked in, I was offered a bowl of marinade to try and enjoy as I waited for my food. This was my first time trying Haitian food and everything was very flavorful and huge portions. The legume was so tender and paired very well over the rice and beans. I definitely look forward to returning the next time I'm in the area to try their other items. Definitely don't hesitate to support this family run restaurant and try some authentic Caribbean food!

Soup Joumou and a Griot Plate

It's been a while since I last visited Jahiti, and the flavors did not disappoint! My go to order is the legume plate, but this time I went on New Year's Day looking for some traditional soup joumou. Even though it is not a recurring menu item, it was amazing! We also got a griot plate that was just as delicious. The pork was fried to perfection, and the meat inside was juicy and flavorful.

I ordered via Uber Eats so I cannot speak on the establishment or customer service, however,I order the fried pork (Griot) but received fried goat. I had been wanting to try their fried pork for a long time but I guess it's not meant to be lol. Luckily I do eat goat so I was still able to eat the food but I would never pay the price for the goat. In my opinion it was not worth it. The meat was dry,a lot of it was tough and for the proce they sent mainly bones. The plantains were very soggy (which can be expected due to the steam, if there was any because the food was cold when it arrived and the Uber driver arrived earlier than quoted), and the rice was VERY bland (although the amount of rice was really good, at least 2 people could eat fr the rice if not more). All of that being said, while I REALLY wanted to try the fried pork, I think I will pass next time.

Tassot Kabrit

I ordered the Tassot kabrit... the plantains were not fresh. To hide the fact that this dish was meatless, they added all this garnish and salad to cover it up.

OMG! Everything I tried here was delectable. The food is made to order and the owner is very attentive. They are located in the corner of the Seffner shopping center next to the hair store. I purchased a groupon online so that helped save some money. The portions were huge! Although, I do feel as if I got more rice than meat. It would've been nice to get a little more. At least they weren't stingy with the gravy! I tried the legume and my GOD 10/10. I took a Jamaican beef patty to go. I was stuffed y'all! I had to take a lot of it to go. Definitely check them out! It is worth the experience. Plus the service is really good.

Excellent. Amazing.

My daughter first time going there. The food is excellent. I love everything. 5 stars.

The food and the customer service were excellent. Also, the price was reasonable and I will definitely try them again.

So honestly I came here because previous reviews raved about the food and customer service. Let me tell you...they were not lying! It's located in such a random plaza that I've driven by a million times. I had no idea this place existed. But please don't let the exterior fool ya, they're cookin up some amazing Caribbean cuisine in this joint! Customer service is something I intentionally highlight in my reviews. Jahiti is top notch with the customer service for real, for real,The co-owner was who I placed my order with and he was so warm and inviting. From his recommendations to samples (more like full on serving sizes) for my little ones to try. Hands down, one of the best customer service encounters I've had. 10/ This was my first time trying Haitian food and let me tell ya,I was NOT disappointed at all. I ordered: -The fried snapper with rice and peas and pikliz (think kimchi but with wasabi kind of heat..if that makes sense). I thought plantains came with it as well but it didn't. This snapper was so fresh and Don fried to absolute perfection. For a fried dish it was not super salty at all. The seasoning was just right and the fresh onion and peppers and the heat from the pikliz tied this entire entree together.10/10 -A side of griot (fried pork)because everyone I've known that has had Haitian food raves about this. So tender and flavorful...I mean just...*chef's kiss*...PERFECTION. 10/10 -Passionfruit juice. Made in house. Not overly sweet whatsoever. 10/10 -A sample of rice and sos pwa nwa (puréed black beans). The fresh herbs used made this rather familiar dish, extraordinary! It was a hit with my kiddos. 10/10 -A sample of oxtail. Mannnnn listen I had 1 piece of oxtail, just 1 and I ate that thing down till the bone showed. So so so so so good. Marinated with all that brown West Indian gravy goodness. Just amazingly tantalizing. When I go back this is what I'm ordering. 10/10 Jahiti is what Seffner never knew it needed. Even if Haitian food isn't up your alley, they're serving up all the comforting Caribbean dishes that will please your taste buds. Come here, eat here and support this business. That's it,that's the review.

Jahiti Menu - Jamaican and Haitian Cuisine
Karen V.

This is another love at first bite experience. Seriously amazing! The last time I had good Haitian food was when visiting Castle Creole in Brandon. It has been years since it closed, and I haven't found flavorful food from Haiti until now. This is a family owned business. There is Jamaican and Haitian (or Jahiti) homemade goodness in this new restaurant in Seffner. I wish I could say that I am the first to review this place, but there are 7 other reviews that Yelp has somehow flagged as unrecommended. Hard to believe because this place is awesome. Hopefully they will be recommended soon. I have to say that the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside. It's in the Parsons Village Square and next door to H&R Block off of Parsons and Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd. Parking is plentiful since it's in a very large plaza. The inside is clean and spacious, and the tables are spread out. It's nothing fancy on the inside. A very casual setting. The music is Caribbean and lively. It kind of made me want to get up and dance. LOL! The menu is small, but has a good mixture of both Jamaican and Haitian comfort food. I knew I wanted Haitian food right away. I saw that they had légume on the menu and I had to try it. They also have many different varieties of bottled or canned drinks. I chose the Jamaican Kola champagne soda. The owner was super friendly and patient. He answered all of the questions I had. He told me that their légume was very popular and that people come in daily for it. Yay, I made the right choice. A few minutes later he brought over a freshly made marinade (fried fritter) that was topped with pikliz, a spicy and pickled relish. I'm not sure if it comes with the meal, or if it was just a sample to taste before the meal. All I can say is that it was fantastic. I love that pikliz! If I had to describe it, it's very close to kimchi but more shredded and colorful. A very tasty treat. The pikliz also comes with the meal. I added it to the fried plantain. Delish! It was all a sign of good things coming. I was so happy when my meal of légume arrived. It was perfect in every way. This stew had tender beef and all kinds of simmered veggies and spices. I can't stop thinking about it. It was also served with white rice and a black bean sauce. I honestly couldn't eat all of it. I could only eat half of the rice, but I ate all of the stew with the rice. It was so tasty and definitely felt comforting. So much so that I can't wait to go back. I haven't tried their Jamaican food yet, but I'm sure it is as tasty and flavorful as their Haitian food. I definitely want to try the oxtail next time. There will be many next times. I'm telling all my friends and family about it. Do not sleep on this place. It gets 5 stars for great service, great value, great portions, and great taste!

However, I did not check it out at first because of the distance. I needed some pates for an event at my son's school. I called first to see if they could fill my request and he said he could. I came in and was greeted immediately. I was given a sample of marinade with some pikliz. First time trying this, and I told him it reminded me of a food I had several times in Guyana. Of course, this just had that Haitian flavor that made it great. I placed my order for pick up for Thursday evening, although the event was Friday mid-morning into the afternoon. He suggested pick up that morning that way, it's fresh out of the oven! I was only ordering some pate pwason ak poul. In my head, I didn't want to make that drive in the morning and also was thinking he would not be open. I agreed, and he said just give me a call or a text and I got you. The day before, I decided to make communications so that I knew my order was ready. Unfortunately, my 2 text and phone call with a voice message went unanswered. I then called the store and this young man reassured me my order would be filled even though he too didn't see it. He was like, if Ja said he got you, he got you. He said he would try to call but it was his birthday. Well, I didn't hear anything until this morning and I immediately smiled. He first text and then later called. I confirmed I'd be there around 945am. I got there and he prepared them and gave me one to eat and I was amazed even more the freshness and goodness. I'm like imagine what the food will actually taste like when I return. We chatted a little bit and I realized this man values his business but more so his customers! This means a lot to me as a customer who appreciates great service. I read some of his reviews, and it appears he has a niche for customer service and making you feel at home. Ayiti cherie and merci!

As we entered, we were greeted by the vibrant Owner and Chef, Orlando. We learned that he purchased the restaurant just 3 weeks ago; it was obvious that he and his crew were working hard to get things up-and-running with freshly painted bright yellow walls, "fun reggae music" playing, a bright painting of Bob Marley on the wall and the delicious smell of BBQ as soon as we exited our car. Be sure to check out the picture of my ribs. That massive serving was only $17.00. I will get 3 meals from them. I chose steamed cabbage and yellow rice as well. While the serving sizes are large, the rich flavors are even larger!!! The food was absolutely superb and cooked to perfection!!! The meat literally fell off the bones.....YUMMMM!!! Thankfully, I went a few hours after they opened so they were fully stocked with patties. I ordered one of each - curry chicken, spinach, veggie, and beef. I placed an order for a large oxtail dinner, large jerk chicken, and medium brown stew chicken meal. Each meal comes with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also asked for extra gravy on the rice. I waited for about 10 minutes and received my hefty order. My dad had the oxtails, and said he wish he had more oxtails in the dinner as there was only 4 or 5. However they were on the larger size in comparison to other Jamaican spots. My mom loved the spice on the Jerk chicken as did I. It had that kick you expect and needed. My brown stew chicken was very good. The chicken was tender and the browning sauce was really good especially with the rice and peas. We did all say we wish there was more peas within the rice. The patties were fresh and I had both the spinach and curry chicken. The curry had a kick and was very savory. It made me want to order their curry chicken meal the next time I stop in. Also, did I mention they give you ALOT of food, so you will have plenty of leftovers.

This made it a good texture for reheating to eat later. This is a casual spot, I would meet friends here or take food to go.

From the attitude to the lack of love put into the food. As for the Humming bird it needs help in many ways. The cleanliness is lacking, people should see clean tables and no leftover rice grains on the floor left from previous customers. The greetings and mannerisms are lacking as well. I shouldn't feel like I'm getting into an altercation with the cashier. As for the food it's lacking the love from the beautiful island called JAMAICA . When establishments get comfortable they forget what it took for them to open those doors. The hard nights of labor that open those doors, the love of cooking some amazing food, the introduction of bringing the elements of Jamaica. As for the order was an oxtail with rice and peas, and cabbage. Also an order of curry chicken with same sides as the oxtail. The oxtail wasn't tender enough the seasoning a bit on the salty side. The curry chicken tasted as leftovers from the previous day. Again it starts with the kitchen and owners have to be held responsible to the full extent. Either get it together for Tampa needs carribean restaurants or shut down and reevaluate the love once was that represented Jamaica.
