I wanted to share that I have used Flat Rate for years. The experience aside from this most recent one, have all been pleasant. Great customer service, on time estimated delivery, and very nice delivery team- both at pick up and arrival. This time, has been completely unprofessional with the delivery time, the response time, and the logistics/delivery team all being beyond disappointing. Not only were they 28 days over with the original estimated delivery date of July 3rd, then it moved to July 11th, then landing at an actual delivery day of July 31st; but also one of my beloved paintings arrived unwrapped with the protective corner guards and protective coverings missing. The boxes were completely damaged and items broke- most likely due to poor handling. We were promised a refund of $75.00 per everyday past the original delivery time. I sent several emails, and no response. I am not one to write a bad review, but this is wrong. This is not how you do business. I have the emails showing that this was promised to us, and still nothing. It is not about the money, it is about the principle. This feedback does not come from an aggressive place. Just wanted to get the word out there. When you trust a company to keep their word and delivery good service, that is what you should get. I used Flatrate Moving to move from Eustis to Tallahassee as they were recommended by a friend in Miami who used them to handle an estate closing. They were very responsive both via email and on the phone. I was concerned that they would not accurately measure the amount of things I had to move because they did not come to the house prior to moving day. That was not an issue. They quoted me fairly and sent two trucks with four movers. They got the move done in one day. They were careful with my things and wrapped all the furniture. The movers themselves were courteous and worked quickly. I received three other estimates from established moving companies and Flatrate was by far the lowest. read more

I'm honestly not surprised to see such bad reviews here. For context, I used FlatRate when I moved from NY to Miami last year and had a great experience with the NY team. I was able to do everything for the quote and to prep for the move virtually. The move itself was smooth and well executed as well. Wow, what an opposite experience with the Miami team. First, they were pushing for an in person consultation which is almost impossible for me given the only appts are weekdays when I'm at the office. They agreed to do things via an inventory list and photos (which honestly was even more than I had to do with the NY team). I sent an inventory list and photos. Their email system kept filtering out my emails and attachments, so I had to send things through multiple times in various ways. They sent a significantly higher quote than my long distance move from NY a year earlier. When I sent a revised inventory list after packing, it was clear the person never used my initial inventory list - just the photos - and under reported my items. He then started using all caps telling me I should have an in person consultation again, and was bold enough to tell me *I* was difficult to work with. Luckily, I quickly found another mover that is doing everything virtually and is incredibly helpful/pleasant. They are also very highly rated and a lower cost. I am removing a star due to the fact that I specifically requested in advance that they wrap all my wood furniture in blankets. They did for one item but then plastic wrapped my wardrobe which ended up with a really small chip in the wood. Know this sounds pretty bad, but they were efficient and also added an extra wardrobe at the end without extra fee. read more

The movers also made me feel uncomfortable an hit on me and showed up to my door an hour after leaving . Either the owner resolves this issue or I'm pressing charges once those devices are turned on and located the detective on my case can legally show up once device is tracked from the company website where I purchased these expensive electronic devices ( his employees homes ) . We just moved homes with FlatRate Moving. After reaching out to a few companies, that either were unavailable or unresponsive, a friend of mine recommended FlatRate Moving and said she uses them for all of her personal moves as well as for her client's estate services. Juliessa and Tatiana were extremely responsive and easy to work with in quoting and modifications, and they were very easy to schedule with. Our day-of moving team, led by Luis, was amazing. We were provided an hour window for when they would arrive, and the men showed up within a couple minutes of the earliest expected time. They went through each room to cross-check items on their list and ask any questions before starting to disassemble and move items. The 3-man team carefully packaged items to make sure no damages occurred. My toddlers had the day off from school and as much as we would try to keep them out of the way they were curious and watching them or asking questions. The men were really good with them and on lookout to ensure they were safely out of the way of heavy or dangerous things. We're super happy to have found a great moving service in Miami and will definitely be recommending them to friends and family looking. read more

Flat Rate Fail! The movers themselves were nice, but Martin, the owner is not. Well, actually, he is until he charges your credit card and then he shows his true colors. I adjusted my move day to a slower day for them as he told me it would be a better rate. Then , I stated 20 boxes on the list, I had 14. When I called in to customer service to ask about reimbursement I was told that would not be a problem. Martin called me back , cut me off, talked over me didn't let me speak came at me with a very nasty tone and basically told me if his movers called during the move he would've done it, but it was my fault that me nor Movers didn't called him. In addition, they wouldn't take a shoe rack and one other item of ours because it wasn't on the list so why didn't they count the items and review the list before forgetting my patio furniture which I then had to go back and move myself! Oh but that's my fault too and had to pay for those items as well. For small moves next time, do you hire a helper and renter on U-Haul and for bigger moves with a flat rate my past experience with Sebastian Movers has not been able to be beat! read more

THIEVES!! Daiby/Deiby (David/Davy), the guy that runs the Miami moving crew, left behind the furniture on one of my terraces, but told me all was in the truck, and because I'm disabled and it's not easy for me to go from room to room, I believed him. I had previously gone item by item with Guy when he came to give me an estimate, and the team was supposed to check the itemized list of items to move. I didn't notice until they were pulling out of my driveway in my new location. I immediately called him and he said he'd get back to me, but he never did. I kept calling and calling and even called Guy to let him know I needed them to go back and pick up my patio furniture. They told me I'd have to pay another $250 for the patio furniture (I had already paid for them to move it according to the itemized list). They also cracked a glass tabletop, chipped a marble coffee tabletop, and some of my white furniture had dirty spots on them that weren't there before, because of the way they loaded it in the truck. In addition to this whole mess, where I had to hire a different moving company to go back to pick up my patio furniture, they also practically extort a 20% tip out of you. If you don't pay it, they insinuate your items may not arrive in one piece. We paid them a $500 tip ABOVE the cost of the move. They didn't seem pleased and didn't really say thanks, except for a "okay, thanks" when my husband handed it to Deiby as he headed for the truck. They're just all around awful. After several calls across about 2 weeks, they finally refunded what they claim was the cost of moving the patio furniture- had they actually moved it. Maybe $200 ? I'm not even sure. Definitely not worth the hassle of dealing with them in the first place or the added hassle of having to hire a different moving company to actually bring the furniture over to my new location. All in all, I will never use them again, and I hope nobody else does either. They're just terrible. The new moving company did say that Flat Rate Moving has a reputation for paying their crews very little and allowing the crew to push for the big tip. STAY AWAY!! Hired Flat Rate Miami for our long distance move back to NJ, as we used them for our long distance move from NYC to Miami. They are NOT THE SAME COMPANY. Flat Rate New York is EXCELLENT! Flat Rate Miami is franchised and they do not operate the same as Flat Rate NY. Flat Rate Miami did the old bate and switch act. Loaded us up in Miami, then when we requested for our items to be delivered, Flat Rate Miami contracted a tractor trailer driver (not affiliated with flat rate to pick up our items and deliver them (never disclosing that this was how our items would be moved- and Flat Rate would not provide the company details for tractor trailer company). The 18 wheeler was too big to make the delivery, so the poor driver was stuck looking for a rental truck or moving company that could assist in transferring our items on to a smaller truck and move them. Six hours later he found DUMBO moving & storage to assist with the move. Flat Rate guaranteed delivery within 7 days, but since they contracted the move out, it was two 2 days late and the men didn't arrive until 5pm. As instructed by Flat Rate, the men would not unload truck until I gave them a cashiers check for the balance. MAJOR RED FLAG!!! No reputable moving company does this. All transactions can be done with a credit card. And the balance is paid when items are unloaded and all accounted for. The two men were very nice and worked very hard, but my husband and I had to assist. They had to use my husbands tools to assemble our furniture as they had none. Additionally, they were unable to assemble bunk beds because it got too late and all of our stuff was in boxes so they didn't have enough light. Ha DO NOT USE FLAT RATE MIAMI!! SERIOUSLY!! Hired Flatrate for both storage and moving. Most of it was fine, but... 1. My bed arrived broken. It was a $2,000 bed frame, and they compensate based on estimated weight so it could have also just been a large lump of clay. $50 something was offered in compensation, so now I sleep on a mattress on the floor. 2. My rug arrived eaten by moths and with LIVE bugs on it. Crawling. The movers didn't want to leave it in the newly cleaned apartment. 3. Dishes, glasses, etc. were broken. Honestly, fine. My friend referred "Flat Rate" moving to me. The guys were nice however, they broke 2 wine glasses upon arrival and shattered the bulbs in my 75 inch Samsung TV. The sad part is I signed off on the paper that everything was good because I never powered on my TV to check because there was no noticible dents or cracks on the externally. Now they emailed me telling me they will mail me a check for $252.00 to cover the price of my 1,650 TV. The results of the claim are as follows: Television: 420lbs Total: 420lbs At $0.60 per pound at 420lbs your total claim is $252.00. This company is HORRENDOUS. They broke around 70% of our items. They lost some of our items. They are totally unresponsive with insurance claims. They lied about the services we paid for and didn't crate our valuables, which we specifically paid for and did not put them in climate control storage. You can see how they literally tossed our items on top of each other in the back of the moving van and crushed everything. They destroyed bicycles, tables, beds, chairs... I had used Flatrate multiple times to move throughout NYC and to Florida without any major issues. Unfortunately, my last move (last March) was a complete and total nightmare out. The move was in Clearwater and they were completely understaffed to pack my stuff. When it was time to deliver my stuff, several items were damaged. I had paid for the extra value protection but they refused to honor the replacement price for the expensive items (even though I had some of them listed on the high inventory list). It has been a total nightmare working with the Claims department and emails to their legal department go unanswered. I had to sue them in small claims court and am still waiting for them to pay me. I now will need to get a judgment lien against them because they refuse to respond to my emails. Unfortunately, Flatrate is just as horrible as every other moving company out there. read more

We used them 5 times - 4 in Miami. The last move from Miami to New York unfortunately was marred by two rings missing from my bathroom in Miami. My apt isn't that big and I kept some rings on a jewelry plate in the bedroom bathroom. They were there in the morning and gone after they departed. Both were valuable - one was diamond and the other an emerald wedding band. When I contacted them about the loss, they became defensive and were uncaring about what had transpired even telling me that "it was my word against theirs and that "they stood by their guys." This transpired in June and I am pretty zen as if you steal you hv to be pretty desperate so I hope they fed their family and it was worth the karma. However to hv been such a loyal customer -- the response and lack of care in restoration left me still until now thought it a good time to lift up this narrative. read more

The good- my stuff arived across the country during the delivery windows they provided. They also offered the cheapest quote I could find. The bad- a couple items were broken in my move (it happens) The ugly- upon payment almost all communication halted, I had to contact close to 8 times to get any response on items that were broken during my move. I am still in the process of getting this handled and it's been 3 months. I have to message 4 or 5 times to get any response what so ever. It's hilarious as they literally owe me what? $80 bucks? I recently used FlatRate for the move to my new place a few miles up the road and have zero complaints with the service I received. I spoke with the customer service representative, he had me tell him everything I needed moved and whether or not stairs would be involved in moving some of the items and I was quoted $450 to move my 1-bed apartment (sans bed - which I replaced). They sent me an inventory of what they recorded, I signed the contract and gave them my credit card, and I was good to go. The day of the move, a guy named Jesse and his assistant showed up with the truck, not only on time, but they were early. They took my stuff and handled it really well. I didn't have any breakage issues and they even let me throw in a couple of small items I forgot to inventory with no price hassle. I signed the forms and credit card receipt while they were carting my stuff away, and with that we were off to the new place. Jesse got everything up into my new place pretty quickly, and provided me pretty friendly service with a smile. He was great to work with and I'd say that it was about as pain-free as a move could get. read more

I wanted to go over some things regarding the move from Miami to Evanston, Illinois. I was very pleased with the gentleman arriving in Miami to help pack and do the move. Their professionalism and efficiency exceeded our expectations. However, the experience here in Evanston was a different story, particularly with the driver Sergy. Upon arrival here to our building to help with the move he was very demanding in his requests and being very unprofessional to the management employees of our building. To start with, Sergy was not willing to comply with the policy of showing his ID and was very rude about it. After seeing the area of unloading he eye-balled the measurement of the unloading zone to the door of our apartment and said that there was 400 feet distance which we had to pay extra $250 ($100 per 100 feet extra). Immediately after that conversation, he demanded this full payment ($1500 remaining balance+ $300) upfront before he would unload any of our stuff. This is when we decided to call Stefan to understand what was happening, we were confused as we had a very good and efficient experience down in Miami. After our talk, he agreed to measure the distance and came up to 286 feet and said he was very close ( essentially not valuating the extra cost on our behalf) What's a $100 more to him, right? Again, very unprofessional. At the end, Stefan said $120 would be the extra amount and Sergy agreed to give a copy of his driver license to the property manager. At this point, it is hard to trust this person. I had to be watching how he operated and witnessed how he threw around a couple boxes like he was pissed. Once he realized I was watching he said "do not worry it is nothing that would break", like he decides what is important and what is not. Once again......very unprofessional. Prestige and trustworthiness should be one of the many cornerstones Flat Rate Moving represents and unfortunately the service provided here in Evanston was less than inferior. I am highly disappointed with the service as we paid $3,250for a cross country move ensuring our belongings with a company that to me and based off reviews held themselves to a high standard. Part 1 of my review. I'm moving from Florida to California and went with this company. Luis and his crew were absolutely amazing getting my things loaded up in Florida. Part 2: My post-pickup experience with this company was not good. I was told that I would receive my items in an average of 10 business days from when they were picked up. However in the contract you sign it does state up to 21 business days. Well when I called them they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and said it would now be up to 1 MONTH for delivery. (This was coming from the same person, Guy Gur, that I originally worked with). Unbelievable. He told me that my items were in a warehouse waiting for a truck to be heading out to the west coast. After contacting them multiple times it ended up being slightly less. Also, some of my items arrived scratched/scrapped. I would not use this company again due to poor communication, bait and switching, and the minor property damage. read more

Saturday before the move on Monday, David confirmed all the details and recommended that we only needed one day to complete and to save the overnight storage fee recommended to come on Tuesday. Tuesday Luis and his team arrived on time and packed and wrapped out possessions. The other two gentleman worked as a team and had all the items removed and load. Unloading and unpacking went just as well. All furniture set up in the correct room and boxes the same. Everything expertly completed the same day at the price originally quoted. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have used this company three times. The first time service was spectacular. The second time they showed up 3 hours late but the customer service by the foreman Petar was so wonderful in making up for it that I didn't mind in the end. The third time was an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. They provided me with a quote on the inventory I said needed to be moved and when they arrived the list that the foreman, Daiby, had was completely different than the list Martin (customer service rep) & I had agreed on. They now wanted to charge me an extra $400 for wardrobe boxes they claimed were included in the first price we agreed to. They told me they couldn't start until I agreed to it. Being under a time crunch, I decided to agree and deal with it on Monday with customer service. The foreman was extremely unprofessional, asking about my marital status, hitting on me, if he can have a drink of my alcohol if he can have some of my items. He even proceeded to take a SHIT in the tiny one-bedroom apartment in the middle of the move. I was beyond disgusted with the level of professionalism. He made me feel very uncomfortable. He later asked me for water and when I told him "Absolutely...but the only cups I have unpacked are coffee cups", he refused and told me to go walk to the store to get him and his team water......?!?!?! I was stunned. He lacked training and customer service. During the move, I instructed him that my coffee table was delicate. He dismissed me by responding with " I do this all the time.. I know what I am doing". My coffee table ended up extremely damaged along with my mirror being broken. At the end of the move, I wrote up a report about the damages that he refused to give me a copy of. One hour after he left, I receive a call from him saying he lost the paperwork and asking if I could go look for it in the loading dock. How convenient you lost the only record of your damage to my property. When I called customer service the next day, they told me "There's nothing we can do. That's his personality. Sorry that you didn't count the boxes right..we can't refund any money. In the future, we can give you $25 off though." I responded by telling them that I will NEVER use them ever again. read more

But when I needed them to move me from one condo to another in Miami they sent over a team that managed the move but was were very careless and broke two painting. But what upset me the most was that I found one of the movers opening my glued desk draw hoping to find something of value (I saw him but he didn't see me). So I didn't hesitate to use them again -- WRONG DECISION! This time around, moving from Miami to St. Louis, FlatRate (Miami) was HORRIBLE! I had an excellent relocation allowance for this move (paid by my employer); thus requested their full-service (packing, storing, and moving). The budget was not an issue. [Hindsight is 20/20, probably should have used a higher-end mover -- this one is a JOKE.] On the day of the move, I received a significant up-charge as they indicated that whoever helped estimate my number of items didn't do it accurately. Of course, I said yes to the new charges given it was moving day. The packing service was a joke! They didn't come prepared. No special boxes for glasses, plates, and other delicate items. Many of my fine pieces arrived in St. Louis broken and shattered. And throughout moving day, the movers kept complaining how inconvenient that they had to pack my stuff and how understaffed and behind schedule they were. Uhm, helllllooo....I paid extra for that service - why wouldn't I expect that service I paid for?! And how is this my problem?! My furniture, including tables, coffee table, and cabinets -- they ALL arrived in St. Louis dented, scratched, and looking old/worn. They obviously were thrown around during the move. And these were not cheap Ikea furniture -- they were designer furniture worth thousands of dollars. And to add insult to injury, when it got delivered to St. Louis, it was literally some random driver they found to drop off my furniture from Miami to St. Louis (who didn't care -- just wanted to leave my furniture to the curbside so he can get paid) and some guy they picked up off the street to help unload. They didn't bring any tools to put together the furniture they disassembled in Miami. They only brought a pair of scissors -- not even a screwdriver. Upon seeing the sad state of my expensive furniture, I seriously cried. The random unloader felt bad for me. I think we felt bad for each other. Moral of the story - I previously read the fantastic reviews on Yelp for this mover. I had a previous good experience with Flatrate NYC. If things are too good to be true, it's too good to be true. Do not use this company! 4 moths ago I used their services. They completely damaged a few pieces of furniture valued in more than $6000-$7000, After 4 months going back and forth with their claim department they told me that they were issuing a check for $260. Only one of the damged pieces was worth more than $4000. So two things.... if you want your stuff damaged, hire them. If you are stubborn enough and use them, be prepared to get your stuff damaged and then not get a proper settlement for your goods. THEY SUCK! read more

My experience with Flat Rate Moving was a delight. They were responsive, professional and efficient. As a Realtor, I have worked with several moving companies in the past for myself and for my clients. I was referred to Flat Rate by a Property Manager at a condominium where I have a few listings. On a short time line, I needed a professional moving company to relocate and store my clients' personal property for an imminent closing.
