Being busy with boxes and setting up a basic household, putting away my grandmothers crystal, china, etc into a antique china hutch was not on my list to do any time soon. That's when I saw the damage. I snail mailed and emailed photos and a description of the repair costs (over$2,000) I was ignored. Carlos never returned my calls or responded any way. Blew off the caller ID. Carlos told one person I wated too long to contact him (liar) and another (insurance agent) he said I waived the supplemental insurance (was never offered it and I did not sign any waiver, LIAR) My renters insurance does not cover the cost of damage by movers. Do not trust him - Carlos seems reliable at first. it's too late to recroup my losses. Small claims court would be in San Diego not where I moved. I doub he will do the right thing. Late Post: Coming from 1-2bdrm apartments since 2017 and moving everything on our own (wife and I), we always talked about hiring movers once we own a home. This year of 2022, we did just that on our purchased homes and couldn't be any happier! We paid for packing/unpacking. The packing part was great. The guys were pleasant and professional. The unpacking was not. They dumped all of my shoes in a huge pile, which resulted in 2 pair being damaged beyond repair. Kitchen things ended up in the bathroom and vice versa. It was a free for all. It was just unpacking and setting things on a horizontal surface. Zero organization. in addition to the 2 pairs of shoes broken, they also broke a vase. A small Louis-Vuitton handbag went missing. Carlos, the owner, blew me off and told me to look for it and call back. After going through everything, it was not to be found. The guys remembered it and described it to me (in a dustbag, in the wardrobe) so It was either stolen or got lost on the way. I chased Carlos down for months to try and get resolution. He made me file a police report and still did nothing. Finally I got him to send me the insurance information and I filed a claim myself. I got called last week and informed that their insurance policy had lapsed May 7, 2023 and I moved in July. They are dishonest and uninsured to boot. read more

If you're a woman planning a move, please don't choose Flat Bid Moving. The owner, Carlos Diaz, is a misogynist and entirely unprofessional. We contracted him for partial packing and moving services in March 2023. I was greatly dissatisfied with both services. Bottom line: many special items including furniture were damaged upon delivery and I was treated abusively by one of his employees. When I tried to work with Carlos to arrive at appropriate compensation for the damages, he never took ownership for the problems nor did he apologize for my negative experience with his personnel. His methodology is inconsistent and his employees are a mixed bag. Some respectful and competent and just as many are inexperienced and clumsy. One man was flat out abusive towards me infront of my three children. I sent Carlos a professional email outlining the issues I had and his response was to ignore me for a week. When I circled back, I was met with disrespect. Yet when my husband insisted that they repair a hole they put in the wall, it was handled professionally. Ultimately, Carlos offered me a brusk acknowledgement that items "may" have been damaged and a check for the arbitrary amount of $420 which doesn't begin to ameliorate the offensive experience nor does it cover the replacement cost for my broken items. They moved my elderly parents twice (once during COVID) - and they were amazing - we had a tight time frame for them to get everything settled and they made it. They had to lay down a lot of floor covering at the retirement home - took an extra hour - and they got it done. They moved me last year, and moved my son, including storing all of his stuff for a few months. Carlos is a great communicator, fair and professional. Nice friendly crews. On time and fast. Packers over packed small unbreakable things, yet they were not careful enough with a heavy antique dresser, king bed and leather recliner. Motorized recliner arrived with a noticeable scratch in seat and didn't work. Fortunately it was under factory warranty. For a simple move A to B they are as good as anyone else. But we had A to Storage and Storage to B with debris pick up. (Double loading and unloading). The follow up necessary for the extra move and debris pick up "left a bad taste in my mouth." They moved us from Poway to Carlsbad in February 2023. The packing was somewhat rushed however nothing was broken in the move. The problem we encountered was a demand for a 20% tip to be added to the "Flat Bid" invoice. I would not recommend them. read more

I am a professional organizer and I recently worked with Carlos and his team to pack and move a client of mine. Carlos is the BEST! He recommended these sturdy green bins instead of boxes, which made the packing process so much faster. (Picture this...no taping up boxes - which takes up so much time when you're packing, no worrying about the weight of objects - see Kitchenaid mixer in photo.) The bins are all the same size, so they stack really well, allowing us to be organized in the home while we packed. When I had questions, Carlos was just a phone call away. Just moved from Bankers Hill to El Cerrito / College area this past weekend. Very very satisfied with the crew over at Flat Bid. Carlos came out to our property months ahead of time and gave us our flat bid. Afterwards, he dropped off boxes, tape, & wrapping paper to help with our move. On the day of the move, his crew showed up 10 minutes early. His crew consisted of 3 very positive, helpful, optimistic (& Strong) movers. They were very gentle with all of our belongings. I moved two small 800 sq ft cottages and one very stuffed garage. We filled 9 moving containers (approx. 7x7x8 each) and it took about 10 hours. The crew was experienced and handled my antiques (which comprised most of my furniture including glass front cabinets) with care. They wrapped all of my furniture with my blankets and they provided all of the tape. They took apart my beds, tables and the like. Everything was handled with respect and care. Packing the containers was a serious game of tetris, and the containers were going to travel to Colorado. They took great care to pack carefully. On the otherside we had no casualties that I have found thus far, and most furniture and fragile items have been unpacked. They were on-time and helped when we were a little behind in packing. They were patient and friendly. They are fairly booked in advance so get them early. We had to pack over three days spread out over a couple of weeks so be sure to arrange in advance. I was given great advice on packing some of my "priceless" antiques by their estimator which proved to be excellent. They are experts without gouging you. One day we went under about 30 minutes of their estimate of time and on our second day they went over by 45 minutes. I liked the flat rate because I didn't have to worry about OT or refunds. read more

I informed him of the may issues and he offered very minimal solutions when what what he should or offered was a partial refund. This is the second time i used him and have made several referrals to this company. This time was terrible. Broken items. Damage to the house and stains on the carpet. They didn't even screw my bed together and ended up on the ground one night. They threw stuff wherever they wanted to and made no effort to place items where I wanted them. They dumped the bins In the middle of my floor and scratched the floor because instead of carrying in the bins they used a handcart on a wooden floor. So disappointed and kinda disgusted that I spent this amount of money to have items damaged and be frustrated. Never again and I will never recommend again again read more

These guys were great! Getting a quote and scheduling was very quick and no fuss, which is a big part of why I booked them. They arrived promptly, on time, the day of our move, and were quick and efficient throughout the entire day. The guys helped reassemble anything that was disassembled during the move, which was a huge relief for me! I also had a lot of specialty equipment for my work that is very delicate, and they were respectful with my equipment, and were very open for communication about my concerns for specific pieces. When some glass from a frame was accidentally broken, they quickly reassured me that they would pay for a replacement. Once I replaced the glass, they promptly sent me the $ to cover the cost, no hassle. Overall, I'm really happy to have had their help with my move! The Team did arrived on time, actually 10 minutes early, they were very good about getting all flooring protection down for both hardwood and carpeted floors. They also covered all stair railings to protect against damage. They were professional and courteous and worked well with us on both the moving out and moving in to our new home. The new home had a pretty narrow stairway going up to Master Bedroom and with large bed and bed frame I had no idea how they would do this and if they could avoid scratching walls etc. however they were masters at maneuvering everything up with no contact to walls etc. Tiko, Jesus, Niguel and their Team were solid and we couldn't have been happier with their work. Was very happy and pleased with the moving staff. Carlos helped me to find a climatized storage facility as I needed to be sure my art work would be kept at a constant temperature. On the day of moving Tico, Rex and Keith arrived on time with masks listened to my concerns about some of the objects being moved and understood the importance of the items.They did an excellent job of loading my possessions from condo and unloading to storage. I'm super disappointed in this moving company. Tho the movers came and were speedy they were pretty reckless with my belongings. Multiple things were taped and not wrapped before they packed them into the pod. I paid for a minimum of 4 hours at $500. They moved everything in under 2 hours and were told to use the remaining time to load a few larger items into the pod once they got to the other house since there was still plenty of time left over. They then charged the other people at the pod location another $200. So that's $700 for under 4 hours of work. Unacceptable. The movers taped a lot of my belongings very tight with no blankets or plastic wrap on things. Destroying a brand new workout bench. A brand new kitchen table. A tv stand was cracked right in half because of the way they loaded things. I tried multiple times for Carlos the man in charge to make things right and refund me for the damaged properties of mine that is workers caused and the over charge they charged. He's been very unresponsive. I'm still waiting for you to make things right Carlos. Super disappointed in this company. I wouldn't recommend. read more
