We stayed at the hotel right across the street from this so walking to and from the concert was easy. As this was the closest Chris Young came to our hometown in Charleston SC and we are up to try new new places, the 8 hour drive was nice; with little traffic the entire way. I do not know the seating capacity of this venue but would guess about 5-6k. We found getting in was simple; provided you come according to security protocol with little personal property. The drinks were reasonable priced at $7.50 per 16oz as were the tickets at $54 each. The restroom lines were a bit long but they supplemented with ports potties for those wishing to skip the wait. The seats were some of the best we have had for the price. The stage was supplemented with 2 large big screens off either side fed by at least 8 cameras that I counted. The sound was also good and balanced, compared to some places we have been. Overall, we will keep this venue on our radar for future events. Only drawback to this weekend getaway was that the town does not seem to cater to the events at this venue. When the concert ended, we could find several places to drink but no where within walking distance that offered food, with them saying the grills or the kitchen closed at 2200 or 2300.

I'm always concerned about where to park when visiting stadiums and arenas. Plus, I do not want to walk two miles. Well, we noticed most folks were parking on the streets and neighboring parking lots. We chose not to since we were unfamiliar with the area and didn't want to get towed during the game. So, I coughed up $20.00 for parking next to the stadium. Besides, the tickets were free. The size of the stadium reminded me of Missouri's Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field. It had a close-knit feel to it. The lines for food and drinks weren't slow, and the line moved quickly. We were both impressed. I believe we picked up water and two sodas for $12, and yes, they serve beer until the end of the third quarter. Also, the fans were friendly and talkative. Of course, I signed, "I'm Deaf," and all was good. The universal football talk is a majority of fist bumps and high-fives unless the team is horrible, and then, most folks exit left anyways. So, if you haven't visited Joan C. Edwards Stadium, please try it, and you might find yourself saying, "We are MARSHALL!"

I watched the Women's gymnastics team tumble against Univ. of Georgia's women. For gymnastics, it seems that no seat is a bad one. The apparati are placed such that all seats have a clear vantage view of all the equipment. Even seats in a tucked-in corner have a decent view. I had one of those corner seats and was kicking myself for not buying the tickets earlier. Instead, I waited until the day before the event because I wanted to ensure that I could attend. Surprisingly, the seat was a good one anyway. Now that I know how easy it is to buy tickets and attend a meet. Plus, I realize that no seat is a bad one, I will try to attend more often.

If you are going there to an event, I suggest to get there early to find a decent parking spot. The home side of the bleachers has wooden seats with backs. The visiting side not so much, just a long bench seating with no backs. The AC in this facility does not exist. Instead they use 4 Big Ass Fans (not being dirty...that is the name of the company). So if you are going in the summer, dress appropriate. The lay out of the facility still makes sense to this day and the restrooms and concession stand are usually clean. Please note that most of the events you go to see here will have a ticket purchase required. The tickets can be bought a head of time or at the doors. It is to the left of the entrance. Hope you enjoy.

The first…read moretime we stayed for the week, my daughter was in the barn when I caught a worker with a case of beer trying to get into our cabin. He had a key card and when confronted, he apologized and then went to the next cabin and then the next until his key card worked. I reported this incident from the many signs that are posted telling guests to report suspicious activity. If my daughter would have been inside the cabin when he tried to get in, she would have been distressed. Security didn't seem to think it was a big deal. My opinion is, he was a worker who somehow got a card key to the cabin and was walking around trying doors until one worked. The second time there was weeks later. I observed drug dealing by the workers in the cabin across from us and took notes and descriptions. They too had a key card that worked. It was a well-orchestrated crime for sure by the workers with lookouts and drop-offs, plus liaisons by the workers (female always looked terrified) also. Again, I reported this to security who handled this like keyboard detectives. I wish I would have called local police first instead of security. This time I stayed around the cabin more, instead of going to the barn to keep an eye on our belongings and vehicle. Security did nothing to make us feel at ease. I told our barn about this, and they were very disappointed. Not once did security call me. 2 days later I finally asked if they had searched the building, and this is after the workers had entered it many times since then. That night they came and searched the building. 2 days later. I wrote and email complaining, and never received a reply back. WEC is only interested in the dollar and not the protection of the guests and its reputation. To me, as the parent of a young girl, this is unacceptable. If you're going to WEC Ohio and staying on the grounds, be very mindful of your surroundings and the workers. And if you see something, call the local police and not security.

Parking near the site filled up fast and they also offered shuttle buses from Crossroads church parking lot. This park is beautiful. The grounds have little lakes with water features, plenty of open well groomed spaces, and the baseball field is gorgeous. The stands look to be newer and are comfortable and ample. At the concession stand there are free hot dogs, drinks, candy, and chips. There were probably over 25 foods trucks at this particular event and you got free tickets to use as you wanted. Some vendors such as the kettle corn, or the ice cream were free without tickets. You also had to option to purchase with card or cash when you used up your free food tickets, and tipping the food trucks was encouraged so bring cash. There were bounce houses for the kids, a mini t ball type field for kid play, and even a free book mobile. The security here is pretty strict and gives a great sense of safety. Only clear bags of a certain size are allowed, check the website for details. I was impressed by how organized everything was. Patrons were mostly well behaved however some became greedy over free items towards the end of the event. I will definitely look forward to coming back for more events in the future.

A sign at the entrance indicated that purses larger than 6x9 had to be clear. We saw many women walking back to their cars with their larger opaque purses - after waiting in line for a half hour. The sound system reverberates throughout and it's difficult to hear what's being said. There were very long lines at all the concession stands before the event began and long lines at the restrooms at the end. Parking had lots of open spaces but it was unguided and essentially a free for all. Both in and out. Seating is sports arena seating, hard plastic. With almost no leg room or arm room. I'll work to avoid coming here.

With all due respect to Mr. Ervin Nutter, businessman-philanthropist…read morewho paid for its construction, the name grates on my ears and makes me embarrassed to speak it aloud. But, what's in a name? The concert capacity is 11,500 and I found entry pretty smooth. There are nine gates and it's surrounded by parking lots, three of which have ample spots reserved for the physically challenged. As with all concert venues, arrive early otherwise you will likely have a bit of a hike. I was there for Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Doors opened almost 90 minutes before showtime, the line moved surprisingly fast, pass through of metal detector was quick and uneventful and there were plenty of staff on hand to scan the e-tickets. There was no request to open my handbag. This is laid out like a bowl, so there's only one level to enter the seating area, putting you at the rim of the bowl....so those great seats you snagged in row 3 are wayyyy down a seemingly endless flight of stairs with none too stable handrails in the center. If this is an issue for someone in your party, there is help available. There was no way my husband could have handled that descent and the ushers were right there to guide us to an elevator where other ushers led us through the backstage area (so exciting) and across the floor, where it was then just a few steps UP to the seats. They were all very helpful and happy to help. Also on the spot if anyone needs a wheelchair. Plenty of bathrooms. Way overpriced food, drinks and merch (like at all concert venues). Bracelets to purchase alcohol were readily available. The concession stands seemed pretty well staffed. I went up the hill once for beer and there was no wait. They have signs smugly proclaiming they are 'cashless' - so minus a star for that. Seats are less than comfortable and packed pretty tight. Watch for sticky spots on the floor. Don't wear your best shoes. Overall the venue has kind of a drab feel, but I came for the show and glad I did.
