Ad for the local art gallery

A retro theater in a retro area. The cinema I landed in was tiny, but I came for a niche movie that wasn't showing in a whole lot of places and had a good enough viewing experience to be worthwhile. They had some ads for a local art gallery, and the short trailer presentation was previews of other arthouse films coming to this particular. I entered and left a movie theater without hearing any mention of Marvel Studios. The concessions had some interesting local items, though I was already stuffed. There are so few of these independent theaters now I thought this one was worth supporting.

My friends and I every year try to see all the Oscar nominated films and we always end up here. This theatre is so quaint and they have snacks from bonbonerie and other local vendors. The movies are usually different than Cinemark and they tend to independent films. The town square looks like a little German village. It's so cute

Awesome theatre in a quaint little town! We drive by the theatre all the time but this was our first time in to catch a movie. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who were extremely polite and helpful. We stocked up on some popcorn and beverages and off we went to view our show. Portions were large and prices were fair. Restrooms and theatre were very clean. Movie was great, and so was the environment. We like the setting of this in a small town feel. We will be back for sure. Definitely worth checking out if you've never been.

So I went to see movie that shows (still!) on the web page as starting at 11:50. Drove over, made it on time, and was told "oh - we're not showing that today." I guess you might want to call, after confirming online, before going to see a movie? Maybe they'll give you the truthful answer then? Who knows...

Great small theater. Nice, comfortable environment with friendly service. You can even get an adult beverage. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the French Quarter (which connects) was open. There are plenty of other options on Mariemount Square. Join the club. P.S. I worked at this theater back in the late 60's....usher and weekend clean up.

Adorable and clean little movie theater nestled in the cozy, pretty Village of Mariemont. This theater primarily shows indie films, which I have always secretly harbored a fondness for (and my 14 year old shares). We went on a Saturday afternoon to see 'Lady Bird' (phenomenal movie, BTW) and we had no problem getting parking. The tickets were $7.50 apiece. The food selection looked a little nicer and more upscale (wine, cheese plates, The BonBonerie treats) than your typical movie theater, while also carrying the familiar favorites of buttered corn and boxed candies, etc. We settled in with our sparkly macarons (literally) in one of the tiny rooms. The audience was undeniably older, more mature and calmer than a typical movie theater - and I throughly enjoyed that aspect. I am literally making it a goal in 2018 to watch more developed character-driven indie films and to frequent this theater more.

Mariemont Theater. They also serve beer and wine!

Small, clean, and comfortable cinema in historic Mariemont. Popcorn is freshly made on premises.

The not so great was the lobby concession area was a hot mess. Burnt popcorn being sold-like you not only could smell it, but see it on the kettle corn in the case. The floor was a mess, straw wrappers and popcorn and some guy added to it by dropping his alcohol drink and it spilled all over the floor and splashing up on me as I'm waiting for some pretzels to get made. (A worker wiped it up with his foot and a couple Sham-Wow cloths.) So the kid waiting on me took forever putting on his plastic gloves, shuffled over to make the pretzels, then stops, walks away-had no idea where. I figured I'd grab some water at the drink station. There's usually clear cups for water, but last night no cups. So I thought they either ran out or just use the soda cups. I grabbed a the middle cup. I was thirsty, small wasn't going to cut it. Hubby goes to pay while I go back to wait for the pretzels. Two boxes get put up for a lady, but no, those are chicken wings orders. The kid suddenly remembers the pretzels he took out of the freezer. Seconds later he hands me a box. The box was cold but it didn't register with me because at that moment my hubby says they charged him $7.00 for my cup of water. He said "fountain water is free I thought?" The kid said "yeah, but only in the clear cups, (which there weren't any) so I have to charge you for the cup." We go to our seats, my seat won't recline back. The feet part came out but the back was straight up and down. My hubbies leaned back, my friend to my right's did too. But not mine. I take a deep breath, it's ok. I'll enjoy my pretzels. Open the box, pick one up, it's frozen. Like rock solid frozen. I can't make this stuff up. So I walk back down to the concessions and a nice manager lady noticed me approaching. I said these are frozen. She grabbed the box and picked one up, she was like omg! These weren't even cooked! She went around to the prep area and showed a couple kids-one was the one that messed up the order. He didn't say a word to her. He just stood there. The other girl jumped into action with her manager because they were behind on pretzel orders. I got my pretzels fast. Rushed back to my non reclining seat and enjoyed them. But this is why I go to Kenwood.

We've always loved supporting our local theater, which is why it's disappointing to see some of the recent changes. We were excited to come for the opening weekend of *Spider Man*, and the experience was frustrating from the moment we arrived. The new concession system created extremely long lines, and it appears that all food orders now have to be placed at the main concession stand. In the past, I always ordered meals from the side concession stands, which made perfect sense since I wasn't purchasing popcorn. On our visit, I planned to order cheeseburgers, chicken tenders and fries for the kids, and mozzarella sticks. When I went to the side concession stand, the menu screens were turned off, the registers were covered, and signs directed everyone to the already packed main concession line. The area looked closed, and there was no way to order food there anymore. This new process does not feel like an improvement. Instead of having separate lines based on what customers are purchasing, everyone is forced into one enormous line. Customers buying a full meal should not have to wait behind everyone buying popcorn and drinks just to place an order. Previously, I could quickly order my meal, receive a buzzer, enjoy the previews, and pick up my food when it was ready. Now, I have to wait in a very long line just to get the buzzer before waiting again for the food. Due to not wanting to miss the beginning of the movie, I ended up skipping food altogether. That is revenue the theater lost, and it was not because I did not want to buy dinner. I simply could not justify standing in such a long line. I've noticed during my last couple of visits over the past month that the theater seems to be heading in the wrong direction. These changes may have been intended to simplify operations, however, from a customer's perspective, they have made the experience much less enjoyable. I truly hope this is temporary or that the policy is reconsidered. Otherwise, my family will likely start eating at places like Red Robin, Wendy's, or Gold Star before coming to the movies. I would much rather continue buying our meals inside the theater, as we always have. I want to continue supporting this theater because it has been a special place for my family for decades. My children have grown up coming here, and we have always enjoyed spending our evenings here. However, forcing every customer into one massive concession line, regardless of what they are ordering, is frustrating, inefficient, and takes away from the overall experience. I sincerely hope management listens to customer feedback and brings back the convenience of ordering meals at the side concession stands. Loyal customers notice these changes, and I would hate to see such a great local theater lose the community support it has built over the years.

The bar service was prompt, prices seem fair and the variety of beer selections is decent for a venue that isn't open every night (though no beers on tap, which is understandable for an event venue I suppose). The building is in pretty good shape, and really shows off the classic architecture well. It seemed to me like the stage area has been enhanced recently, though I couldn't be sure.
