The food here is beyond expensive. It's hard to enjoy the movie after spending all your money on snacks & pop

The Regal Cinemas Wilder 14 is a decent theater. I had been one time before and wasn't impressed, but since then they have renovated and updated to the awesome reclining seats. The theater definitely has an old school feeling to it..the lobby and hallways feel like a theater out of the late 90s or early 2000s. Inside the theaters, as I stated before, they've been updated to the state of the art reclining seats. They're really nice. I like how it's set up to where once you sit down you can pretty much only see other people in your row..you don't have to worry about someone in rows in front of you being on their cell phones or doing other annoying things. I did take note of two things: these seats recline back farther than any other reclining seats that we've seen..which is pretty cool..unless you're really tired, they're comfy enough to fall asleep in for sure. Also took note that the seats were pretty close together, which is fine for sitting next to people you know, awkward for sitting next to strangers. Not that big a deal though. The ticket prices seemed a bit higher than we usually pay at other theaters. Most have an early-bird special price for the first showing of the day..but this place doesn't seem to do that. Overall I liked this theater. It combines the nostalgia of older theaters with the new theater seating that has improved the movie going experience over the years.

Had I just ordered my usual cheeseburger, Cajun fries and Diet Coke I would have been great. But...I decided to switch it up and order an appetizer as well. I ordered the pulled-pork nachos and added the elote corn. Everything looked amazing until I found chunks of fat in my food. Server was great and had them remade. Kitchen receives a 0/5 for this remake. The pork came back tasting old and twice cooked from his 'crisping up' and all the other toppings gone. The kitchen manager also added a comment about the cut of meat - mmmkay but your food shouldn't have chunks of fat no meat. The pork tasted so bad I didn't eat them. The server had already taken them off my check, so it's whatever. Do not recommend. My burger and fries were great and hot. They had 3 servers in the theatre, which should have made for an easy time getting what I needed. I only received 1 refill that I had to ask twice for. They really need to tighten up the training. They are all so nice! I definitely feel it's a training vs a server issue. The Star-Crossed Spritz needed to be a sweeter drink. The St Germaine gave it too much of an Old Fashioned spin and wasn't the fun girlie vibe it needed to be.

This is definitely one of my favorite movie options. They've been going strong for 25 years now,…read morebut it's still all about two passionate movie buffs -- Tim Swallow the owner and his wife, who bring in movies we'd otherwise not have a chance to see here in Cincinnati. The laid-back atmosphere is evident throughout the experience -- from the low-tech check-in counter (if you buy online, you just give your name to the volunteer who checks it off the list & tells you to go in -- no ticket stub necessary), to the ice cream shop on the other side of the building (they let you bring the ice cream into the movie), to the relaxed way Tim comes out before the film to introduce it, and leads the discussion afterwards. The theater is clean and comfortable, and large enough for the large groups they attract. Their big event every year is the Oscar Shorts, i.e. the short movies that are contenders for this year's Oscars. I saw the animation shorts recently, but there's also action shorts and documentary shorts (I'll probably check them all out in the next few weeks). As always, what I did watch was enjoyable, unique, and seen in a great venue with fellow movie aficionados.

This cinema is wonderful. Everyone was there to see a good film. No distractions. People passionate about film. I believe the guy told us that the Cincinnati World Cinema has been around since 2002 but they just recently moved into the Garfield Theater. They've been renovating their space but it looks close to complete. They also work on a volunteer basis. If the place was closer to Louisville, I would donate my time here. For my Louisville friends, if you've ever been to The Speed Museum for a film, this place could be compared. The difference is this place is missing the museum part with a larger focus on the film at hand. One of the volunteers came out before the film and talked about the film. He offered up information on the director and the film. I've been in similar settings but I feel like the information and interaction here was much better. I won't go into how great the film is, 'Shoplifters', but you should absolutely see it. After the movie, the people that wanted to go across the street(to a restaurant-bar) could for an after-film discussion. From the talks, it seems they normally do this in the theater. Had it not been for the impending snowstorm and drive back to Louisville, I would've stayed for the discussion. After just one visit, I'll absolutely check their site regularly and make special trips to Cincinnati for films. I enjoyed my viewing here. Despite a snowstorm; 'Shoplifters' is also playing in Louisville this next weekend(at the Speed), it was totally worth the trip to Cincinnati to see this film.

I can tell you the excitement I had as a child going to school field trips here. You would pack a brown bag lunch and sit outside the museum by the fountains, and then enjoy whatever was playing at the Omnimax. What sweet memories! The Omnimax just went digital. In the past, before the show, you could stand outside and watch the film fly through the reels. You could even watch the workers reset the film in between shows. That area is still there, but there is now no need for film, as it is now digital. To be honest, I really couldn't tell any huge differences now compared to what it used to be. The volcano show was the first of their digital videos. The announcement before the show began reminded us that some of the improvements included more speakers behind the screen, a digital upgrade, and larger seats in the audience--all good things. Non-member pricing is nine dollars for the show. Member pricing is about 6 to 7 dollars. The show last little less than an hour. It is first come first serve, so try to get to the line about 15 minutes before the show begins. You can check ticket prices online to see how many seats are sold each showing. If you are checking out the museum, you must check out the Omnimax! It is definitely a good addition to your ticket.

A weirdly located little gem that I hope to visit again and again!…read more I went to see a comedian by the name of Greg Fitzsimmons. He had been plugging his upcoming date in "Dayton". Well, I kept checking his website and the website of the main comedy club in Dayton, OH, and couldn't find anything. So, I emailed him and asked. And that's when he said, "Sh*t, you're right. It's Dayton, KY. I need to tell people that!" That's when I learned there was a Dayton, KY and a comedy club in Dayton, KY. Using Waze, as I do, I set my course for Commonwealth Sanctuary in Dayton, KY. Fairly straight forward....driving along.... Waze says I'm almost there. A few turns later, I'm smack-dab in the middle of a neighborhood. There it was. In the middle of the block, on a residential side street, was what looks to be a former church. A small church, but obviously once a church. Residential houses on each side and across the street. But that was it. I walked up, confirmed I was in the right place and that was it. Upon entering, you're asked your name to get checked in. Then, someone walks you to your table. It's a small room. Very small room with a small altar....I mean stage, at the front. While walking up, the person seating me pointed out where the restrooms were and the exits, in case I needed either. She then pointed out their menu and order cards. She explained that each item has a number (kind of like ordering sushi) and said just write down the numbers and someone will pick it up. She pointed out they do silent ordering and silent check drops in order to not interrupt the show. THIS IS BRILLIANT! Every comedy club in the world should take note of this and make this the standard. There is nothing more aggravating that getting asked, or hearing the next table get asked, if they're "good" or God forbid order a bunch more drinks or food. Then, there's the dreaded check drops and payment at the table. I cannot think of a worse interruption than the check drop at my table and surrounding tables. Commonwealth Sanctuary does it right. They had quite a few hot food items, sandwiches, snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from. It was actually a nice menu. During this visit, I simply ordered a Snapple Iced Tea. The club is small and intimate. This is good and bad and I witnessed both. The good - the comic can easily do crowd work and go back and forth with audience members, if they choose. The bad is when you ALWAYS, have the person in the crowd who then sees this as an invite to be part of the rest of the show. The level of severity of these people is always related to their level of intoxication. So, there's that. No comedy club is free from that element. Would I go back? 100%! Nice little place. Weird location, but a very cool discovery. They have open mics, local comics and national touring comics coming through all the time. It is literally so small and intimate that it feels like you're at someone's house. But, that's not a bad thing. Ticket prices are fair and quite low as are the food and beverage prices. Commonwealth Sanctuary really has it going on. It would have been nice to see more people at this particular show, but you can't blame that on the club. It could be a number of things. My biggest hope is that word gets around about this little gem in our area because their friendly staff really go out of their way to make this a nice and fun place to come and see a good show. Check it out!!!
