My son and I sat down, enjoyed a beer and a couple brats. The owner was very nice and took very good care of us. The place is very clean and it looks like that are doing some remodeling. I highly recommend if you are in the area or just wanting something different. Movies, a full bar and good food. Parking is along the street, but it seems that there is plenty.

What's really cool is that they allowed people to bring in outside food from the nearby food court (although I'm not sure if that was because the snacks counter was closed, as it wasn't a usual movie night). Also I admit I wasn't expecting a bunch of college kids to be such a well-behaved audience, so that was a pleasant surprise too. I didn't hear one phone go off or any disruptive talking.

They've been going strong for 25 years now,…read morebut it's still all about two passionate movie buffs -- Tim Swallow the owner and his wife, who bring in movies we'd otherwise not have a chance to see here in Cincinnati. The laid-back atmosphere is evident throughout the experience -- from the low-tech check-in counter (if you buy online, you just give your name to the volunteer who checks it off the list & tells you to go in -- no ticket stub necessary), to the ice cream shop on the other side of the building (they let you bring the ice cream into the movie), to the relaxed way Tim comes out before the film to introduce it, and leads the discussion afterwards. The theater is clean and comfortable, and large enough for the large groups they attract. Their big event every year is the Oscar Shorts, i.e. the short movies that are contenders for this year's Oscars. I saw the animation shorts recently, but there's also action shorts and documentary shorts (I'll probably check them all out in the next few weeks). As always, what I did watch was enjoyable, unique, and seen in a great venue with fellow movie aficionados.

This cinema is wonderful. Everyone was there to see a good film. No distractions. People passionate about film. I believe the guy told us that the Cincinnati World Cinema has been around since 2002 but they just recently moved into the Garfield Theater. They've been renovating their space but it looks close to complete. They also work on a volunteer basis. If the place was closer to Louisville, I would donate my time here. For my Louisville friends, if you've ever been to The Speed Museum for a film, this place could be compared. The difference is this place is missing the museum part with a larger focus on the film at hand. One of the volunteers came out before the film and talked about the film. He offered up information on the director and the film. I've been in similar settings but I feel like the information and interaction here was much better. I won't go into how great the film is, 'Shoplifters', but you should absolutely see it. After the movie, the people that wanted to go across the street(to a restaurant-bar) could for an after-film discussion. From the talks, it seems they normally do this in the theater. Had it not been for the impending snowstorm and drive back to Louisville, I would've stayed for the discussion. After just one visit, I'll absolutely check their site regularly and make special trips to Cincinnati for films. I enjoyed my viewing here. Despite a snowstorm; 'Shoplifters' is also playing in Louisville this next weekend(at the Speed), it was totally worth the trip to Cincinnati to see this film.

The folks running the place up front are kind and informative. We saw the one-man show, Vincent. It was fantastic. Even though I was in the second to last row (there aren't that many rows), I felt like I was right in the middle of the action. The location on Monmouth is convenient to many nearby restaurants, so it's easy to plan a nice dinner-and-a-show evening out with friends.

We enjoyed our visit to the Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience. They did a great job…read morecompletely creating the forest out of the hosting camp - despite having been to the camp in broad daylight when being used as one, we could barely recognize it at night with all of the lighting and decor, making it easy to slip into the world of the Forbidden Forest. After we had our tickets scanned by a very friendly staff member, we entered the refreshment area. There were firepits available (especially great since we somehow ended up with one of the first bitterly cold nights of the season - 23 F). There were a couple of stands offering food and then several drink stands, though we noticed most of the stands said they offered butterbeer, not just the butterbeer stand. You then head through a small shop before entering the trail itself. Never fear, you still exit through a much larger gift shop at the end if you're not feeling like carrying your stuff the entire time and want to shop at the end. The trail itself leads you to various scenes and interactive experiences, where you can either watch others participate or queue up to participate yourself - they have done a nice job setting up queue areas to the side of the trail and leaving the main section of trail open to those passing through. A wand is not required for most of the scenes, though they welcome you to bring your own if you would like (and they also, of course, sell some in the shops). The one that does require a wand - dueling - they gave a special pair that a staff member will provide the duelers with to borrow for the activity. The other spelling stations, you can also wave your hand (hint: be sure to read the note/look where you need to wave your hand/wand, the sensors need to sense you for it to work. They are all pretty similar sensor set ups so once you get it down, you can pretty much nail the next ones on the first go). Expecto Patronum requires you to actually say Expecto Patronum and staff were there to assist as needed. Another note is that this is definitely a gravel, bumpy camp trail, so you may want to consider your/your group's personal needs as far as proper footing go. Some folks were having harder times than others navigating it, particularly in the dimmer lighting. A lot of the decorative lighting was awesome for the experience itself but not super bright for looking at the ground - we also benefited from some moonlight in that regard. The experience isn't cheap but you can save a bit if you're able to be flexible on timing/day, as they practice surge pricing. So you might want to click around a bit to see what works best for your availability. We opted for 8:45 pm since it seems the earlier timings were a bit more expensive on the days we were looking at, and that helped with the queues. We had very reasonable wait times at almost all of the stations, with the exception being a long wait for the Sorting Hat. We were there for about 60 minutes, which was right in the range provided by the experience FAQ so that was spot on. Note that parking is a separate fee and you can either prepurchase with your tickets or when you arrive.
