Two weeks in a row I get to watch my Herd;)
Michelle D.

I have been attending Marshall University football games at the Joan C Edwards Stadium since it opened in September 1991. When the stadium first opened there were no seats in the end zone and fans would sit on the hill in the grass. On this last visit I had not attended a game for several years. A few changes like the sale of beer and Austin's local ice cream. My tickets were located in the upper section of the endzone. The stadium was packed as it was the first home game of the season. I loved seeing the sea of green;) I feel there are no bad seats in the stadium. My view was awesome! I tried Austin's homemade chocolate brownie ice cream and oh my was it good! This was a great addition to the menu;) The bathrooms were clean and the staff friendly. After all it's Huntington, WV. We are some of the friendliest fans/people you will find in college football;) If you haven't attended a Marshall game at Joan C Edwards Stadium what are you waiting for? You can buy your tickets online and show them from your phone at the gate so you don't have to wait in a long lines.

Great place to watch a football game. Great atmosphere and has normally decent crowds and still provides a family friendly atmosphere. TV's around the stadium and a new store is super convenient. Bathrooms could use updating but not bad compared to other stadiums. Overall if you can catch a Herd game here do it, it's a great experience and one of the most classic things to do in Huntington.

The WORST volleyball venue in the Ohio Valley Region ever!…read more 1. Rent-a-cops inspect your bags, chairs and purses upon entry for outside food or "contraband". 2. The facility TURNS OFF the drinking fountains so you are forced to pay $3 for a 20oz bottle of water. 4. Concessions weren't open for early tournaments. 5. No HEALTHY food. 6. Dirty, FILTHY, disgusting courts. 7. And bathrooms! 8. No free WIFI

For a smaller venue, this wasn't bad. We have been to a lot of venues across the US and abroad in…read moreour lifetime and this was actually enjoyable. We stayed at the hotel right across the street from this so walking to and from the concert was easy. As this was the closest Chris Young came to our hometown in Charleston SC and we are up to try new new places, the 8 hour drive was nice; with little traffic the entire way. I do not know the seating capacity of this venue but would guess about 5-6k. We found getting in was simple; provided you come according to security protocol with little personal property. The drinks were reasonable priced at $7.50 per 16oz as were the tickets at $54 each. The restroom lines were a bit long but they supplemented with ports potties for those wishing to skip the wait. The seats were some of the best we have had for the price. The stage was supplemented with 2 large big screens off either side fed by at least 8 cameras that I counted. The sound was also good and balanced, compared to some places we have been. Overall, we will keep this venue on our radar for future events. Only drawback to this weekend getaway was that the town does not seem to cater to the events at this venue. When the concert ended, we could find several places to drink but no where within walking distance that offered food, with them saying the grills or the kitchen closed at 2200 or 2300.

The fact that this even exists is such a great asset to Beckley. I had been meaning to come here for years, but hadn't been able to make the time u til today. I purchased them tickets only through the website. The cost was between $7.50 to $10 per ticket plus some service fees. Not sure if the price would have been the same at the stadium. I had the option to either print my tickets or pick up at will call. When I got to will call they didn't issue me a ticket, they just said I could show my email to the people at the front to get in. There are several concession stands and food options which are more detailed on their website. The price varied a lot from very affordable ($2 for snow cone) to over priced ($3 for a bottle of water). However, the people are very friendly and the Eplings have created a family like atmosphere. There are no covered seating so bring an umbrella to block out the Sun or rain. Bleacher seating doesn't have backs but the "box" seating does. All seats have great views of the action and the field even over looks the mountains. Just don't park close to the stadium; there are several balls that leave the park and will hit your car if you're parked in the first 3 rows. Overall, I recommend this experience to locals and anyone just visiting!
