My good contractor friend explained to me that many systems leak slowly and that I shouldn't really be concerned with any type of expensive leak test especially if it's still cooling some and if it was holding pressure. I called Starners on a Monday and they got to us on Wednesday. They were upfront with their pricing, friendly, and fast. I really liked the old guy they sent. He checked my system at having 31psi and it needed to be around 60 which required about 2lbs of the old style refrigerant R-22 which is more expensive. Total cost for the out call and refrigerant was about $165. I was very pleased with their service and would use them again with any of my HVAC needs.

Their name and phone number is shown on my thermostat, so i called them when the A/C wouldn't work yesterday. The girl who answered the phone asked for my address and if they installed the unit. I said Yes they installed it and gave her the address. She then informed me that they couldn't help me. She said they were too busy to do service requests. They only do new installations and warranty service! Not that they couldn't get to it for x number of days or weeks. Just that they couldn't service it at all. I knew it wouldn't still be under warranty since it is 4 years old, but i never heard of a company that just refused to service a product that they installed. Very disappointed.

He was a nice, engaging guy to boot. He told me he's been plumbing for 22 years so, that could explain the expertise. Anyway, because there was on access panel to the tub, there was a charge for diagnostics, which was 1/2 absorbed into the cost of the job. The quoted price was about what I expected and he was a nice guy so, I hired him. He arrived on the scheduled repair day and communicated he would be late due to an emergency call. He arrived at the quoted time and got right to work. He made the job look effortless, which made me wonder why it cost so much, but then again, it is because he knows what he's doing! Before he took major steps in the job, he'd call me up to explain what he was doing. He cleaned up everything after his work was done and replaced the hole in the wall with nice moulding. Overall a clean professional job. It's warranteed for 1 year, but I don't think I'll be calling back with any issues. He mentioned in 22 yeard of plumbing he's only had to come back to a job 3 times. SECOND, the technician called me from the road and walked me through a fuse check, which worked initially, but later kept failing. One night I was unable to turn my garbage disposal off. The wall switch didn't work. They were extremely friendly and willing to answer all of our questions. We HAD some pretty severe foundation issues. The fix included installing piers and pillars. We also had them install a new downspout drain, and encapsulate our crawl space. This only took them about 3.5 days. My wife and I are extremely happy with the work they did for us. Side note: I highly recommended a crawl space encapsulation. It's noticeably improved the air quality in our house and as a bonus we have extra storage space.
